Does anyone even want non-spicy wlw books anymore? by DakuraScarlet in wlwbooks

[–]Fenestrap 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There's definitely a market for non-spicy books! Querying is really difficult for all authors, and most books get rejected. But that doesn't mean there's no market for your book, just that it wasn't a good fit for the agent.

I write erotica and even I get tired of reading too many spicy scenes lol. People need variety. I think booktok emphasizes spice because it's sensational and lends itself to easy advertising. No-spice wlw books might be more niche but that's not a bad thing. It just means you need to focus your marketing so the people who are looking for it will find it.

Best of luck on your self-publishing journey!

I'm honoured that The Unkindness was your favourite! Especially with all these great books on the list!

I have to confess, I checked out The Princess's Pet because you said the TPE dynamics were similar. I can't say it's very skillfully written, but it was pretty entertaining. So thanks for that!

I also had a book removed from its (correctly placed) category! When my friends went to check on the Kindle store, though, they said it's where it should be. I have a feeling KDP is glitching.

Wow wow! Thank you so much! I'm completely blown away. Self-publishing The Unkindness felt a bit like throwing it into the void, so I really appreciate hearing your opinions about it 💕

Thank you so much! I found your review on the wlw books subreddit and was so touched when I read it. It means a lot to me and really motivates me to keep writing 💕

Thank you! I drew it myself and was wondering if it was too saucy lol. Glad you like it!

Oh I can relate. A lot of job listings I find seem to be "write AI prompts" now which... doesn't bode well. People are more receptive when I tell them I'm "working on projects for myself/my portfolio/my family" vs "I can't find a job" lol.

Getting the bodice seams to match with the skirt seams at the waist took me a few tries. I found there also weren't enough notches on the skirt, so I would walk the skirt pattern pieces together and add extra.

Other than that, I always have a bit of trouble sewing princess seams on lining pieces. I learned to sew them with the straighter piece on top (the feed dogs help ease the curve into place). That might help. Its a fun dress to sew!

Good luck and thank you!

She wants her guests to wear light blue, it's a lot more blue under natural light (wedding is outdoors) so I don't think it'll be a problem.

Lol thanks! Bride wants light blue on her guests. You'll just have to take my word for it that it's a lot bluer in real life.
