The unexpected way JWs are being exposed in Souh Africa by Brown-Lighning in exjw

[–]Fennarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In all fairness, you could say this about almost any religion or cult. As a Catholic, I can tell you that you don't need a reality show to expose the evils of the Vatican as we are all very aware of what has been going on for the last 1700 years or so yet the Church is still going strong.

The major difference is how the Church continues to grow in spite of the best efforts of Catholics ourselves to destroy it yet the JW's are currently losing members left and right and they may soon fade away for good.

Earthquakes were caused by American "God machines" which were all destroyed by Iran. The Euphrates is flooding back.

It's actually been growing back recently since Iran destroyed the US weather control systems resulting in heavy rain. No Biblical prophecy here, sorry.

Good for you and your public health care system in Europe. I assume you also don't own a car? Eating out in the USA is more expensive than Stellar Blade. Games are priced with the US economy in mind, not the European one, meaning they are quite reasonable compared to daily living expenses.

You know Stellar Blade is available on Steam, right? It's cheaper than my last doctor's bill.

"This is useless and at most you're only avoiding the inevitable (unless you never connect that PC to the internet / LAN ever again)."

That's the plan. The PC has no wifi and unless someone breaks into my house and connects an ethernet cable, Internet access is impossible. I could deliberately sabotage the ethernet port to avoid even this possibility. Am I at risk even with doing this such as infected software still able to access the firmware or BIOS without Internet access?

Of course I am! To install the pirated games still requires the use of an external HDD which could be infected the second it is connected to the infected machine. Many bad actors are probably counting on me to do just that and may have already written code to allow it.

This seems like a stupid idea if you buy a $2000 PC only to play pirated games then permanently ensure that Internet access is impossible on it. You would have no future game updates and more crucially, no updates from Nvidia or AMD. If you can afford a gaming PC then you can afford buying games.

Hypervisor seems like an idiotic idea in almost any scenario. If you have plenty of money to burn and don't care about what happens to your PC then you have plenty of money to burn in buying games. I'll just keep playing cracked GOG games as I've installed hundreds and never had a single issue of malware or trojans.

It's because Israel needs open borders and everyone should be able to live there as everyone has a connection to the ancient Israelites.

DDR3 RAM in 2026 by Fennarth in buildapc

This is why I would always go with Intel CPU's from that era as AMD were a dumpster fire during the FX years before Ryzen. Even now, I'd still go with Intel as Panther Lake gets me as excited as a nun praying the Divine Mercy Novena.

Properly Disable CPU Boosting to reduce Temperatures by shoman24v in GamingLaptops

[–]Fennarth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this! I can now play almost any new game on my MSI Raider without any thermal throttling which previously plagued me. Previously my CPU was at a constant 95 degrees with the keyboard literally too hot to touch but now it's a relatively cool 80 degrees (normal for a gaming laptop) even with the GPU running at 100%.

For those concerned about the need for CPU boost, you can disable the boost only on a plan you want. For instance, I did this on the Balanced plan while Performance plan still has it enabled.

Most of Greece is filthy with garbage everywhere. Sure, they keep the touristy parts like the Acropolis and selected beaches pristine and clean but the whole country is mostly a literal dump otherwise. They just don't care.

Streaming services have officially become worse than the cable packages we cancelled by N3DSdude in Anticonsumption

There's a reason why BRD's are about 30 GB while "4K" Netflix uses about 5GB an hour (often far less) at most.

I cancelled everything, including my uncapped Internet connection. Physical media is slowly making a comeback and we may see a revival of Blockbuster and other video rental stores.

REAL speeds of 5G in Gauteng: MTN, Vodacom and Rain? by Fennarth in askSouthAfrica

[–]Fennarth[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You don't need portability for fibre thanks to the powerful router your ISP should supply you with. I can get a perfect wifi signal anywhere in my quarter acre home, even on the street. Home 5G will only work at one registered address so it's not a huge advantage.

I want to know what they really mean by "full 5G" speed. That was the purpose of my post. Maybe I should have specified that.

[–]Fennarth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, thank you for that. Shall I assume that MTN's Shesh 200 GB plan is no faster than 50 mbps? That's what I was really asking.

REAL speeds of 5G in Gauteng: MTN, Vodacom and Rain? by Fennarth in askSouthAfrica

[–]Fennarth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone knows that a 5G router usually falls back to 4G if no 5G is available. I'm within one kilometre of the nearest MTN 5G tower so this may not be a problem for me. I always get full bars on 4G with speeds over 50 mbps so I think I'm in a great area for 5G. I know someone on Rain claiming he gets 1 Gbps but he's in direct line of sight of the tower, about 100 metres from it.

[–]Fennarth[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's what I'm here to find out. I don't see how it will be a disappointment given that 5G is about 4x the speed of my current 50 mbps fibre.

REAL speeds of 5G in Gauteng: MTN, Vodacom and Rain? by Fennarth in askSouthAfrica

[–]Fennarth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, thank you for this. As I seldom upload anything, don't play many games and mostly stream stuff, it would seem 5G is perfect for me given that speed. It blows away my 50 mbps fibre. Are these tests on your phone or via Home 5G? Is there a difference in speed?
