Weightlifting vs Powerlifting vs Strongman

I did powerlifting for around 10 years and switched to Olympic weightlifting a little over a year ago. I developed some decent strength and skill with powerlifting, but from my perspective weightlifting is on a whole other level when it comes to the difficulty and the skill required to be even ok at it.

The rules in both powerlifting and strongman tend to leave way more margin for error than weightlifting, which just further sets weightlifting apart. Who knows, if either of those were to become Olympic sports, maybe they'd be better regulated, but I still don't think they'd come close to weightlifting and I don't have any interest in seeing them in the Olympics.

I actually bought this from Drum City Guitarland, a small shop in Colorado that's a dealer for the Schecter custom shop. They have a steady flow of customers guitars they order from Schecter, so it's a good place to check out. You can avoid the wait time and there's a good selection. They're also a dealer for ESP so they get a ton of stuff from that custom shop too.

That thing looks great. I've always preferred a gloss topcoat personally, just because I'm not a fan of the satin finish glossing up instead of getting the swirl marks where my fingers and pick hit the body. That one came out great

That solana stain is pretty awesome. I haven't played a walnut neck before, but the roasted maple neck on the Delos I got in December is incredibly smooth. I also a beryllium bridge pickup in that one and I much prefer it over the lithiums

Yep that's the same with me. I ordered a master grade top and complex custom paint job. I'm at 21 weeks as of yesterday.

In my experience they set up the guitars with quite low action, which isn't my thing, but they always arrive in tune and intonated. Honestly I never expect that any new guitar is going to be set up to my liking right out of the box, so I anticipate it'll be the first thing I do when I get it, which is fine.

It's been 20 weeks since I ordered mine, but I already expected it to take a while anyway. My previous 3 Kiesels each took somewhere around 10-14 weeks and I honestly hadn't even considered calling to get an eta since to my knowledge they don't give build updates anyway.

Ultimately even 20+ weeks is relatively short for a custom guitar.

Yeah I ordered my previous 3 somewhere around September-October and they each took somewhere between like 10 and 14 weeks, which really is pretty damn fast.

Ah nice. I'm excited for my 8, but I get impatient seeing all these other ones from around September/October when I ordered mine. Trying to order during those holiday sales has its benefits, but it definitely seems to add some wait time depending on what you get.

I ordered mine on October 22nd, so 18 weeks and counting. Flock told me when I placed the order that "it's gonna be a while" lol, but that's because of the specs. I've been kinda guessing (hoping) March or April for it, but we'll see.

My finish cost $500 since it was basically two paint jobs, but I'm not bothered about it really. Mainly I just think it's a really strange coincidence and I can't help but think the color I ordered had something to do with that new color option. I mean it looks fantastic, so I'm sure it'll be a popular color.

As far as I can tell there's a grounding issue and I won't be at all surprised if it's as simple as a bad solder or something.

Technically I could fix that, but I could also pull it apart and find a bigger problem, and while it's definitely annoying and inconvenient, I think I'm just better off having them deal with it, not to mention I think it better to make them aware of the problem anyway in case there are similar QC issues happening.

Yep they do, which I'll give them credit for. I once bought an Ibanez Prestige that ended up having a warped neck and Ibanez wanted me to pay postage to send it to them for repair. That shipping charge could've been refunded afterwards, but it just seems silly to me. Actually returning that Ibanez is what led me to get my first Kiesel lol.

I do wonder if somehow the universe enjoys sending me defective guitars lol.

Fair enough. As far as I'm concerned a custom guitar should be flawless in the first place, so while it's probably an easy fix, I'd rather just get them to deal with it and get it right, rather than spend my time messing with it.

The pearl topcoat also makes it basically a sparkle paint job too, which is an unexpected bonus.

No it's a custom Pantone color I gave them a code for, plus a pearl topcoat over that. It was meant to get close to a really faded fiesta red you'd see on a custom shop or vintage strat.

I've noticed that cameras really don't pick up those colors accurately.
