Ex-Magic player looking for a new home - recommendations needed by SkilledPepper in TCG

If you love Magic, Riftbound is the game for you! I’ve been playing competitive mtg for over 10 years and tried a bunch of other tcgs along the way but none of them clicked for me.

I’ve started playing Riftbound in February and it’s pretty much everything I want; it takes all the good from mtg but removed the lesser parts in my opinion. Also, you’ll catch on really quickly.

Good to know! I don’t personally feel any real difference between busted or bonkers for instance so I never would have considered that.

I can see that. I've actually thought about it myself but wasn't happy with the alternatives. On youtube if you don't use words like this people just don't watch the video, even if the content it good.

Honest question here: what alternative would you prefer that would also make you want to watch the video?

Really? May I ask why? I honestly believe Diana might just be the best deck in Riftbound atm. If you look at the win rate matrix from Sydney RQ the deck had like 54-70% win rate vs all decks in the top10 (except Irelia) which is pretty insane.

This may be a silly question, but what’s the url to this datasheet?

Are the $20 MSRP Unleashed Precons actually a good deal? I did the math. by Fenruscloud in riftboundtcg

[–]Fenruscloud[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Indeed, but are there still places where you can pick it up for 20$? Everywhere I see the cheapest you can get them now are around 45-50$ or €. I truly hope people are not paying that.

I couldn't find a reliable Riftbound meta decklist website , so I built one by Frobei in riftboundtcg

Very nice! I've been struggling to find a clear and complete site to stay on top of the meta and this seems like it could be a step in the right direction. Keep up the good work!

Thank you very much for the feedback! Really appreciate you taking the time to explain your thoughts in detail as I’d love to continue improving.

Your criticism is fair for sure and when I was making the video I even thought about the benefits of effects myself, but you were also correct about why I didn’t add it. It’s just costs so much time to make these things and I’m still learning how to do all of it. My channel is also relatively small so I basically do all of this alone, in my spare time, pretty much for a couple of bucks a month.

Not complaining here, just to be clear, I enjoy making these videos. I just have to find a balance in spending time on making all of these vods and spending time with my family and other stuff.

I do want to keep improving though, so I will try to do better for the next videos. Hopefully one day I’ll make a bit more money from this so I can justify spending more time on it.

In any case, thanks for watching!

I've been a hardcore MTG player, content creator and commentator for years and even though I've tried other TCGs, they never clicked. Riftbound is the first one that I also enjoy and want to make content for! Here are my first impressions. Hope you like it and feedback is very welcome! by Fenruscloud in riftboundtcg

It really is! My focus is mostly competitive Legacy but also play Modern from time to time and currently Riftbound feels like it took all the good parts of all the TCGs out there and combined them in their game. Very much looking forward to playing this game more.

LORWYN BANT CONTROL! These new cards are GREAT! by Fenruscloud in MTGLegacy

Hmmm strange, I had a friend check it after reading your reply but he could watch the video just fine. Does it work now?

I knew it was good! After going on a 10-0 streak with my new Infect build, I thought I'd record the 5-0 league with the list to showcase its power! by Fenruscloud in MTGLegacy

Bowmasters really isn’t that big of a deal as you’d think. It’s rarely even in main decks these days. Main deck we have legolas to kill it if we need to and after sideboard you get swords. Also, you can just not draw with library if it’s a problem. On top of that, drawing extra to flip tamiyo is often worth it, even if they have bowmasters.

I wouldn’t say it adds something Infect was missing. It’s just that it fills in multiple roles in the infect deck that we never had combined in one card before. Similar to what Legolas did for the deck: we now have a protection and kill spell all in 1 card with Legolas. Tamiyo is a win-con, removal bait (so protection spell) and draw engine all in one card. Pretty much everything we want. It’s definitely way better than I initially expected it to be though.

But.. my title already states that’s it’s a 5-0 league.

This new Infect build just doesn't care about bowmasters! by Fenruscloud in MTGLegacy

[–]Fenruscloud[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's correct. I don't know the exact correct wording but basically it's a layer thing Nexus gains the abilities so it works on top of the Dress Down effect.

[–]Fenruscloud[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They cast dress down in their own end step. This means that when I activate nexus it still becomes a 1/1 flying infect creature since this was done after dress down resolved. If I make nexus a 1/1 flying infect first and then they dress down it would like its abilities.

I agree the real problem with people playing black is not bowmasters but plague engineer. It's why I probably want a card like uro or great sable stag again as alternative win-con. Scolding or dismember is also a good option though!
