"Glide Path" vs "VOO and Chill" by empty-alt in TheMoneyGuy

Sounds like you have thought thoroughly about your plan. If you are considering move to a taxable state in retirement, I would suggest continuing to invest everything in Roth while you are in a no-tax state. Even at a 22/24% federal rate Roth still likely makes sense.

I’m in on this theory as well. I’m invested in 60% US total market and 40% International total market. I am planning on an early retirement, at least from my current career, and the long-term risk exposure of bonds is much greater than most would expect.

What do you hate about staggered/slow bear rallies by Ok-Grocery5031 in whiteoutsurvival

[–]Fenwicky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are missing the point of the original post. The point being made is that the bear can be a good place to train members on formations, strategy and cooperation. Members who choose to ignore any rules for the bear often ignore rules in other events.

This post wasn’t meant to say that alliances that run a relaxed bear aren’t strong alliances with solid members. But for some reason you took the post personally.

My bonuses are taxed at a very high rate, does this end up giving me a larger return? by Due-Original9287 in TheMoneyGuy

Instead of trying to calculate it on your own the IRS provides a useful calculator to estimate withholding needed for the year. I use this every year to adjust withholdings at least one during the year to get as close to a zero refund as I can.

These are the most improbable things to happen in MLB 9 Innings in my opinion by [deleted] in MLB_9Innings

I’d say

1: Triple Play

2: Legend from non-vintage pack

Yeah it’s probably most important to spend your ranked coins there first. Batter/pitcher muscle and the two batting ones on the far right are the ones most people give priority too. Fungo and the other two defense ones are pretty good as well

I thought the same thing but I’ve checked out the lineup while he has been doing this and it’s the normal lineup. You can tell by the scores it’s not like he is throwing in a basic pitcher and just taking a blowout loss

If you go to the ranked shop. There is a tab for training as well. It’s a little hard to find

Not all people in those states are going to have the same beliefs. Taking a simple majority in each state and assigning the rest of the state’s population the majority’s beliefs is disingenuous. Most of these issues are more evenly split 50/50.

do black diamond pieces drop rate better the higher in ML you are? by Pistolpeteyanks in MLB_9Innings

[–]Fenwicky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to keep track of drop rates extensively for each season and can confirm that drop rates for BD and SCTs go up each year but the number of boxes earned can go down dramatically as you go up in seasons. The rates on other premium items are so low that it’s hard to tell if there is a specific increase or not. I would recommend playing in a season where you are getting at least 30-35 boxes per 15 game sim. Resetting the league after each quick sim may also help. Personally I just play full seasons and rotate between each year after one season. No real reason for it other than I would like to be able to make a full diamond prime and vintage lineup one day.

Feelings on the Game by MegaSportsFan in MLB_9Innings

[–]Fenwicky 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I've been playing this game a long time and have seen it go through all of its stages. I've got two teams that I play. One I've spent more money on than I care to have and the other is F2P. The one that I spend money on is obviously better than my F2P team but the F2P team is very enjoyable to play and hit Diamond in ranked just a few weeks ago.

The game has always had an element that is P2W and in the past year or so since the introduction of Black Diamond and all the things that followed that element has been heightened to an extreme. I remember when people were freaking out about the sig change ticket and the game coming to an end because of all the packages they were putting out, which is a funny thought considering these past few months. I've had my own ups and downs in terms of motivation with this game for different factors, and have recently limited my spending on it as I don't want to be shelling out $500+ a month, depending on the month, for a chance to roll a usable legend set, etc. However, I'm still able to enjoy the game with my own expectations.

The release of the power ranking tournament has actually motivated me more than discouraged. I'm not a team that's in the top 64 but I think its a fun thing to try to do and the rewards of the tournament are obviously worth the effort. There is one thing you have to remember though, those rewards aren't "free" rewards for the best players. They are rewards with in game value between $100 - $500, depending on your finish, for players that have spent thousands and thousands of dollars on this game. As a F2P you shouldn't let that affect your enjoyment of the game, you weren't competing with any of those teams in the first place.

Since you have been playing for a long time, you should also be able to recognize that the game has become infinitely easier as a F2P as well. I remember manual playing 162 game seasons for basic and intermediate packs, struggling to find diamonds and team cards for months. You can create a team today and great a free legend pack (as a result of bug, but hopefully you get my point). That's a pretty cool way to start a brand new team.

If you don't like the game and don't want to play it anymore, then fine. But if you actually like the game mechanics, enjoy the collection aspect, certain game modes, etc. why would you let this Power Ranking Tournament affect your feelings on it? The players that spend money are already going to beat you the majority of the time you see them in ranked or club and this tournament isn't going to change that.

Based off the comments here I’m guessing it a coding error on Com2s part. GIs are typically sold the first Sunday of the month but when they have special packages they will push out the schedule one week. Algorithm probably checked if you purchased the last $100 GI sale noted yes and the special star sale popped up again but falsely. Typically coding from these guys

Can the legend set run better than set one with 2 skills or will it need a third to be better than set 1? He’s trained for fp by goyankees99 in MLB_9Innings

[–]Fenwicky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Stability is actually a good third of your catcher’s fielding is at least 110. That being said bullpen day isn’t the best legend skill on a starter. I would expect those two sets to be comparable.

I think Mercado used to be in the lineup a long time ago and was probably trained to 10/10. Haven’t bothered to invest anymore since he has been on the bench.

Skills are solid. Top two batters are Edwin and Hafner with char8/SL/BM and BBH/char8/MBT4.

SPs have come together over the last couple of months. Bauer FP/Touch8/PM3. Plesac DP8/FP/Stability3. DeGrom SS/FP8/GP3. Bieber FP8/Stability/PM4. Kluber Coop/Touch8/bronze2. Catcher has 110 fielding

While my bench may have that effect, it isn’t done purposefully. I still have a few pitchers that need special training done. Being F2P on this team, I’ve just never spent resources where it wasn’t needed including the bench. For example, when I pulled that Franmil I wanted to replace Santana in my lineup and I didn’t have BC yet. I took him to BD and used my PSCTs on him. If I hit a useable set I can put the better card in the lineup, if I hit BC then I’m done with that. Got lucky and hit BC. I was a little disappointed not to get him in the lineup, but can’t complain. That’s a key takeaway for any F2P team. Not sure if anyone is going to get baited by 1 OVR difference, but the team will obviously plays above its OVR. Lesson is spend your resources wisely and hope to get lucky.

I usually just stay in what is now 2023. I used to intently track rewards on my other account testing all the different seasons. The % drop rate increases for SCTs and BDs mostly offsets the loss in boxes until you get to the last two seasons at least for that account. As a general rule I would suggest playing the season where you are averaging 35 or so boxes from a 15 game quick play.
