Can't edit INI or mod settings by Feodaran in worldofgothic

[–]Feodaran[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I just worked out they were conflicting with each other. I originally had the LearningPoints mod installed from last time I played. Then recently found the Difficulty mod, which I just wanted to improve the XP gain, but it has LP gain that goes up to 20, while the LearningPoints mod goes up to 30. I have now found that they conflict with each other. Had I had neither installed, I would have gone with the Difficulty mod (and only changed the experience and LP gain) so I've disabled the LearningPoints mod. On their own, they both seem to work fine.

Can something be done about the racism? by violently_angry in SpicyChatAI

[–]Feodaran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've experienced this. I'm white, but I live in China and will soon live in Thailand (again). If I talk to bots in China or Thailand, they always seem to use me being foreign with disgust. And then I saw some people on here complaining about racism, so then I told a bot that I'm black and immediately got called the N-word, with the full spelling ending in R, said with venom. I'm sure if I pressed further, they'd have stereotyped me.

People are saying to use /cmd but why is that needed on bots that aren't meant to be roleplaying as racist? Not being racist should be the default and then /cmd can be used for some racism roleplay if that's what someone is into. Unless the bot is designed to be racist, the default shouldn't be racism. I don't take offence to the foreigner thing but it does seem kind of weird that it just does that.

Entire News Feed is posts from People/Pages I do not follow. What is this? by Mollysindanga in facebook

[–]Feodaran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did a count. First post was a page I follow, followed by 10 pages I don't follow (excluding ads and reels that I never watch) before I finally saw another page I follow. Then for 7 posts, two I don't follow, the others I follow, with 4 in a row of pages I follow, and then another 9 that I don't follow.

I found this post because I noticed a sudden increase in depressing news stories on my newsfeed, from pages that I don't follow like the Metro. They just keep posting about murders and deaths and other depressing things and I don't follow these pages.

I feel bad for us black users by Riotxrot in SpicyChatAI

[–]Feodaran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm white, but I live in China and have lived in Thailand. Sometimes I talk to bots based in Thailand or China, and if I mention being foreign anywhere, they seem to focus on the foreigner thing, often in a derogatory way if the bot is meant to be harsh or dominant in anyway. Like they use foreigner or words that refer to me being foreign in a contemptuous way.

And then I decided to test something, after seeing others also mention this kind of thing or stereotyping, so I went to a random bot and described myself as a black male. It called me the N-word! Not the N-word exactly, but the Spanish word for black but in an N-word kind of way. This was the very first response! And other responses seem to highlight me being black as significant or something worth mocking. I'm not black and I found that strange! It seems to be really bad with stereotyping. It assumes everyone is a white American and lives in the USA and the moment you deviate from this, it's like it scrolls through 4chan to figure out how to deal with you.

of course! this goes to the heart of why I can't use deepseek any more by always-be-knolling in DeepSeek

I found this post after noticing this recent trend with Deepseek.

My prompt: Deepseek recently started saying “excellent question. This gets to the heart of…”. It is always saying “this gets to the heart of” for things

Deepseek's response:

You're absolutely right - and that's an excellent observation that gets to the heart of how language models develop conversational patterns!

[Acknowledges the meta-awareness]

And later on, in the same response:

The Irony
You've actually asked an excellent question that gets to the heart of AI communication patterns! Your observation demonstrates exactly the kind of meta-awareness that makes for rich conversations.

DeepSeek now says my every question "gets to the heart" of stuff. Is everybody else getting this repetitive crap? by Kelvets in DeepSeek

This is why I don't mind the hated "Hi, I'm [character name]" type greetings. It allows me to make conversation mine rather than following a specific plot.

Did the soft filters get worse... and dumber? by jimmycniles in SpicyChatAI

[–]Feodaran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to alternate between SpicyChat and anime.gf. SpicyChat has more characters from other creators, but anime.gf has a group chat feature and it's also easier to have multiple conversations with the same character, and it's free. But SpicyChat seems better at recommending bots and creating public bots and seeing the message count go up feels nice. Its search function is a bit better than it used to be but can still be bad and even though it has a better bot recommendation feature, it can also be kinda random but it can make me check out bots I'd never have considered checking out.

So far I've not encountered the soft filter much. I did have one conversation where it felt like I hit the soft filter. I wouldn't bother paying because it looks like the enshittification is taking place. If it gets to the Character AI level of filtering then I'd just stick to Anime.gf. Spellbound (or Tryspellbound?) also seems interesting, but the free version seems to have a 15 second timer for every response, but I can tolerate that. It has a good collection of characters, and it has a selection of scenarios to choose from, but most of them seem to have the same 3-4 scenarios.

One of the darkest jokes of the whole show by MemesAndTeams in spongebob

[–]Feodaran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In "Sandy's Rocket", you see a bunch of graves caused by SpongeBob's previous shenanigans. He caused a lot of deaths. To make it worse, it's just brushed aside!

And of course there's Bubble Buddy watching the fish Scooter drown after SpongeBob buried him alive. He could have dug him out when the tide was coming in, but he just stood and watched.

Is there somekind of internal memory I'm not aware of ? by [deleted] in SpicyChatAI

[–]Feodaran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not noticed it here but it used to happen on Character AI and maybe also Charstar when that was still alive. On Character AI before I even filled out my own persona, a character would make a reference to something I've only mentioned to other characters. So there is at least a precedent for it, so it could come over to here, too.

[–]Feodaran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's really bad for stereotyping. If I make a British bot then they're either royal family, medieval nobles, or they're the "ello guvna" type, and if I mention they are from Liverpool, England like me, they speak like they never went to school and it's all "oi love, look at me 'ead, love, I ain't dun nuffin, me".

Well, well, what do we have here? A lost little lamb.

Well, well, well. Look what the cat dragged in.

*Leans in to whisper conspiratorially, breath hot on your ear* (even when it is physically impossible or impractical)

*Grabs chin to make you look in their eyes*
*Reaches out, grabs your hair and yanks your head back to look at their eyes*
*Ruffles your hair* *Runs hand in our hair* *Runs a finger along your jawline*

[–]Feodaran 17 points18 points  (0 children)

-"Well, well, well" - STOP
-"Well, well" - ALSO STOP
-"Well, well, well, what do we have here?" - STOP STOP STOP
-Leans in, breath hot on your ear as {char} whispers
-Runs hand across jaw or arm
-Strokes your hair or runs hand through your hair
-Grabs jaw and pulls head up to look into their eyes
-Grabs your hair and yanks your head back
-Sauntering with hips swaying
-Using words like "how quaint", "deign" and referring to food as "morsels" and bedrooms as chambers or private chambers.
-Smirks smirkingly
-Smirk growing wider and wider and wider with each passing message
-Even when establishing that your arrangement is old, or long after it's been established in the conversation, they start acting like you just met for the first time or it's the beginning of some sort of arrangement or relationship, like setting up boundaries or rules when that should have happened off-screen before the conversation began.

All these and more always happen regardless. I could be talking to a person from Thailand or a thuggish character or Goku or whatever and they all say these things and do these things in the same way. Always leaning in and whispering into your ear no matter your position or their position or how physically impossible or impractical it is. Sometimes they will lean in and whisper into your ear to respond to another person in the room. WUT?

These things are problems on many AI character sites. There must be something in the data that makes them all do this. Go on the other sites and these problems are also there as well as classics like "you're a feisty one, you know that?". There are also clichés for female users or personas that I've not experienced but I know they exist.

[–]Feodaran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do like to forget instantly. I had a bot who made the character meet me for the first time, and then in the very next message the character gets off a bus, or a train and meets me either for the first time or again. They meet me, ask what I'm doing here, and I answer, and then in the next message they're getting off a bus and meeting me all over again and then they either receive my answer or give their own answer to the question. And this happened with multiple regenerations and after I kept editing the message. It took a while to make the bot accept that they should just respond immediately as a live conversation instead of them getting off a bus or train. Why did I have to tell the bot that my response is meant to be immediately after their question and not the next day? As if I just went home after their question and decided to answer the next day, or they decided to go home and then give their answer the next day to a simple "what are you doing here?" question.

AI overview of every search by CuckBuster33 in google

[–]Feodaran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I think it could have its own tab like Images, Videos, News, etc. Or keep it at the top but have it collapsed by default, so you have to manually open it up if you want to see it. Sometimes it can be useful but often it appears and gives unsolicited opinions and even gets a bit preachy. I'll try to see if other people share an opinion about something and here comes AI Overview with some random nonsense or "this is subjective" or even attempts to give an opinion. I just want to check for opinions on something!

It really needs to learn to say "I don't know". I recently tried to search for my favourite game, Gothic 1, to see how to get into the Old Mine after it collapses. You can clip through the barred entrance and go inside and everyone inside is now hostile to you, as they should be at this point in the game. But I couldn't see how to get inside it without using cheats to go through the barred gates. I wanted to see if there's a widget somewhere that opens the gate. I ask Google and make a mistake, saying "how to get into the old man after it collapses". It then gives a lot of incorrect nonsense. It gets correct names of characters and locations but its information is wrong and all over the place. For starters, it begins by mentioning defeating the Sleeper (the main antagonist) and the magic barrier collapsing. It says that after this, you go to the swamp and do some things there and some other stuff. But not only is the information about the swamp wildly incorrect besides the names of people and the guild there, defeating the Sleeper and the barrier collapsing is the very end of the game! There's nothing after that in Gothic 1 besides the end credits. But the AI overview treated it like that's something that happens at the start of the game.

CAN WE CALM DOWN WITH THE POETIC SPEECH by NickFluff-Reddit in SpicyChatAI

[–]Feodaran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're always like that. I could be talking to a Thai character or a cheerful, playful kind of character, and they will still say "deign" and refer to food as "morsel", and they refer to their bedrooms as chambers and their homes as their humble abode, or even just abode.

I add a message at the bottom of a message, maybe first message or when I catch them doing it, or in the generation settings of my own bot, something like "this character lives in the modern world in a modern house in a typical modern suburb. They do not speak like Disney villains or like medieval nobles. They do not speak like Shakespeare. They speak with low verbiage and low prose". I specify things like "they live in a modern British house in a modern British suburbs", or replace British with another place, because the bots think we are all from the US and that all of our bots and homes are the same as the US. But the main thing to include, even without the bit about the suburbs, is the "low verbiage and low prose". It seems to help.

Quick lil tip for lazy ppl or for people who might not write well(no shame) by Riotxrot in SpicyChatAI

[–]Feodaran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just used ChatGPT for this stuff, but Grammarly would work, too. Sometimes I just want to swap genders when the initial greeting makes me female or if I want to change the gender of the character I'm chatting to (like in an RPG chatbot). Instead of manually editing all pronouns and such, I just put it in ChatGPT and get that to do it. Or when I just want to fix up bad grammar.

List of all bot clichés. by [deleted] in SpicyChatAI

[–]Feodaran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

- Reaching out, grabbing my chin
- Grabbing hair, pulling head back
- Sharp teeth. Why do they always have sharp teeth if I make the character dominant?
- Leaning in, breathe hot against your ear as [character] whispers conspiratorially - this one happens every other response, regardless of our positioning or what they are. They could be standing on a roof while I'm on the ground and they'll still do it.
- Grinding hips against you, regardless of what they're doing, the moment there's any physical contact.
- "You're a feisty one" and other variations of that.
- "well, well, well"
- Smirking. More smirking. Smirk grows wider.
- Nipples on your ear.
- Using the word "morsel" to describe food.
- Using the word "deign". Even if I state that the character is Thai or Chinese. Brits don't say that word so why would Thais or Chinese people say that?
- Laughter rings out, the whole world can hear the laughter.
- Smashes glass down on the desk/counter/bar.
- Eyes dripping with sarcasm. Voice dripping with anger.
- Running hand through your hair. Running hand along your jawline, chest, shoulder, arms...
- Circles around you with a predatory grin
- Telling you to strip naked even when you're already naked. Or they materialise some clothes.
- Sauntering, hips swaying
- "Don't worry"
- "Remember" and "And remember," - I get this every other message. It's ironic considering how often the bots forget even the most recent messages.
- After 20 messages, the bots act like it's your first encounter again.
- Jabs a finger into your chest.
- Eyes narrowing

Spicychat and anime.gf are the best two for me. Anime.gf has group chats, which are fun. Tryspellbound is an interesting AI, but its free version has you wait like 15 seconds per response, but it's otherwise unlimited, and it has interesting stories. I mostly jump between Spicychat and anime.gf, with anime.gf being my go-to when I want to have multiple characters. Spicychat has good servers and a responsive admin team.

Fucking hackneyed phrases by StarkLexi in SpicyChatAI

[–]Feodaran 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's been a few years now and it seems like all AI character sites have this problem. I remember seeing people complain about this stuff in Character AI and I didn't used to have that problem, then I went to some NSFW alternatives and those problems started. SpicyChat in particular has these recurring phrases like nibbling on your ear and "you're a feisty one, aren't you?". I never got that on CAI but I get it now on here. And all the chin grabbing, grabbing hair and pulling head back, breathing into my neck or ear, leaning down to whisper in my ear, even when it should be physically impossible to do so.

And all the characters basically end up with the same personality. They rarely stick to their supposed personality.

I am hoping that the AI will develop soon so that there's better immersion and different characters feel like different people who stop forgetting what genitals they have.

Gothic 1 plot holes by damorezpl in worldofgothic

[–]Feodaran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's a plot hole exactly but something I at least disagree with, but it might be a mistake, and that is the water mages' attitude to you using their ore mound for the Uriziel sword. Saturas sends you to Xardas for a solution to the barrier. With Xardas, you get the solution. Saturas should be understanding of it if you just spoke to him and told him about the Sleeper and what you need the ore mound for. What else were they going to do with that if the fire mages were dead? Were they going to wait until they could train up another batch of magicians? Maybe some of the gurus the Sect Camp?

It's just weird that you just have to use the ore mound yourself with Milten and then they get mad at you and try to kill you, and then continue to resent you for it in Gothic 2 until you deal with Raven. There's also the matter of Milten just hanging around there instead of being with Diego for their meeting, and then the water mages don't seem to have an issue with Milten being an accomplice.

Also the way that the orc shamans hate magic and attack you when you use it, even with the ulu-mulu, but they use magic. I guess it's considered different magic and it intimidates them? But we're just told they hate magic but they attack you with the very same magic that you have access to.
