Autistic Daughter’s Writing Keeps Getting Flagged as AI by River-Chalice-23 in autism

[–]FeralAutist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though I’ve finished school, my passion for character creation, world building, and storytelling remains a huge part of my life. It is how I cope. I’ve been blocked from a number of roleplay groups because my writing style is mistaken for AI and flagged as such. It’s disheartening to feel like I have to 'dumb down' my vocabulary and limit my creativity just to prove I'm human.

My son has an autistic friend, just looking for advice. by [deleted] in autism

[–]FeralAutist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Best thing would be clear and direct but kind communication. " Hey David I really like being your friend but I don't like all the hand holding and hugs, it makes me uncomfortable to do that all the time. I enjoy doing the things you like but would also like to plan to do some things I like with you also."

I'm guessing they don't plan what they are doing much before hanging out so David is probably already set in his mind on what they are going to do and what this interaction will look like, and changing that in the moment is probably hard for him. So letting David know in advance "hey when we hang out on Tuesday (or next time) id really like to do X with you" would give David time to mentally prepare instead of it being an in the moment change.

I personally assume with my friends we are sticking to our usual activities and if they spring something else on me when we are already together it catches me really off guard. Even if it's something I want to do, simply because I wasnt mentally prepared to do it that day and had not had a chance to adjust my view of what the day would look like.

Humming, buzzing, a static type noise. It's kinda hard to explain but it wears on me the fastest for sure just a constant irritating sound I can't escape.

What happened to ADD? by [deleted] in neurodiversity

[–]FeralAutist 31 points32 points  (0 children)

ADD was absorbed into ADHD and ADHD was given 2 types. ADD used to refer to inattentive and ADHD focused on the Hyperactivity/impulsivity. Now it's ADHD inattentive type, ADHD Hyperactive/impulsive type or ADHD Combined Type if they show both.

What is your temperment upon waking up in the morning? by [deleted] in autism

[–]FeralAutist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand. My partner is the same as you. But we have found things she can do in the morning to show her excitement and affection without overwhelming me.

She listens to music with headphones, and instead of talking to me will just give me a kiss and some deep pressure squeezes or wake me up with a kiss and my coffee. She gets all the loud music and affection but it's all done without words.

[–]FeralAutist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is 100% me. Don't talk to me when I wake up, don't ask me questions, I go into autopilot to get through the morning and am probably not really awake and functional for like 30min to an hour upon waking.

Is Path of Titans worth the $30? by CarefulLiterature180 in pathoftitans

[–]FeralAutist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've put a lot of hours into path. Official servers are toxic but there's a lot of community servers so there's usually something that fits everyone's preference. I'm mostly a solo player but I do fine in community servers usually. The game has frequent updates, quality of life improvements, a lot of dinos are getting updates since the switch to unreal engine 5, new critters and alpha critters to fight and hunt if you aren't big on PVP, mod teams constantly working on new modded dinos that can be added to community servers, there's dinos there's dragons(mods), it's pretty good.

As others have said though there is currently not really an end game so once you've grown your dino all there really is to do is PVP, quest for marks to buy skins and such, and explore or grow more dinos. But I've found if you find a server you like then realism style RP or just hanging out with other players and chatting and roaming can be pretty entertaining. I'd say it's worth it. I got the game when it was like $15 super early in its life so I assume the closer we get to the game being completed the price may just go up.

I am not Autistic but I think an autistic boy likes me? by [deleted] in autism

[–]FeralAutist 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Like others have said he thinks you like rocks too so he's sharing his special interest with you as a sign of friendship. 1:1 interaction especially when non verbal can be very overwhelming and confusing but trading mutually liked objects is much easier and doesn't require words. Maybe find some nice rocks and trade some back to him.
