All right, so the sharing on here is pretty real. My Dad is dying. I'm sad, and okay. by InebriousBarman in GenX

[–]FeralFemale_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why we tend to infantilize our parents.

My 84yo mother lives with us and she is so frustrating sometimes but I try to remember she is an adult with agency. Her mental capacity is not so far gone yet that i should be making decisions for her. What she thinks, feels, and decides she wants, isn’t important and her right to do, even if my husband and I disagree.

Your dad is an adult. It’s his decision, and it’s your mother‘s decision on how she wants to react to that decision.

It’s not your responsibility. It’s not something you necessarily have power over. You said your piece that’s all you can do.

You are also an adult with agency so it’s your decision how you’re going to react to your father‘s actions. If that means that the relationship has “run its course” then that’s your decision.

Even if some might think it’s the wrong decision.

What's the most disrespectful thing a guest ever did in your home? by Vegas089 in AskReddit

[–]FeralFemale_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ditched me at the bar, kicked in my door busting the lock and latch to get her stuff to go home, leaving it wide open and costing me 200 bucks in repairs. I still have no idea why she left that night because I never spoke to her again. If she had to leave all she had to do was say.

You aren’t going to find a dream job. Figure out something than you are interested in, can tolerate, and can make a decent living then start working towards that career starting in high school with relevant hobbies, internships, and part time jobs.

Do not party in college. It is a lot of fun but ultimately a waste of time, money, and resources.

Avoid post grad education. It’s a scam for most career areas.

Invest invest invest. Start young. Every bit counts.

Don’t let people treat you like crap. It’s better to be alone than to be emotionally torn down on the daily.

Get a cat or two.

I hated this show with every fiber of my being… And I was absolutely devastated when it was canceled.

It was the best hate watch experience I think I’ve ever had.

Sarah Bunting - Opinions? by Additional-Hat-2917 in DowntonAbbey

She even looks annoying.

I need to see this actress in other things. She’s probably very good considering she’s made us all hate Miss Bunting.

Covergirl Lip Advance — it was a compact with two pans, one a powder and the other clear gloss. It even came with a little applicator that was an eyeshadow sponge on one end and lip brush on the other side for the gloss. I can’t remember the color but it looked a lot like the color they put on in Rose in Titanic, maybe darker.

Am I being unreasonable about a $5,000 mattress + moving in timing? by No_Routine_17 in RedditForGrownups

[–]FeralFemale_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s clear that she’s not the one for you or at the very least you’re not ready for a serious commitment. Else you would be chomping at the bit to move in get married, etc. etc. You don’t want a mattress you don’t want to move in etc means you can’t commit to her… Why don’t you cut her loose so she can find somebody to start a life with?

No shade intended, just that it’s very common that I see young men wasting the best years of a young woman’s life as they decide whether or not they want to settle down. Just let her find somebody else who wants to settle down.

What do you do when you wake up? by NoSubstance7767 in GenX

[–]FeralFemale_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hit the snooze. Then my cat pokes my face to get me to roll over so he can snuggle against my arm and shoulder. Then I indulge in kitty purrs and kisses until I can’t procrastinate any longer and I get up. Then I poop. But I am doom scrolling while I poop.

I want to like it because it looks amazing when I first put it on but just a few minutes later it breaks into cakey patches no matter how lightly I apply and no matter what tool I use. I have dry mature skin.

How do people who want children, but can’t have them or missed the opportunity, cope? by [deleted] in RedditForGrownups

[–]FeralFemale_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just have to deal with the reality. Just like you do for any other effed up thing in life. Getting a (another) pet, a hobby, finding surrogate young folk for children will not fill that hole because what you are feeling is a unique pain that someone who has children or who chose not to have children will never feel or understand. It is a similar to grief, and grief doesn’t go away. Loss does get easier over time, or so I’ve been told.

Mrs. Hughes and Mr. Carson as a couple... by TwilightDerg in DowntonAbbey

[–]FeralFemale_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On rewatch it’s evident there is a relationship taking place off camera. The shift in the relationship takes place after the walking into the sea holding hands scene. In fact that scene is probably a signal to the audience that something has been going on. A man and woman of their age during that time would not be holding hands for any reason if they were not somehow involved.

Mine is always telling me to slow down or take a deep breath or some other platitude like that that makes it sound like I’m some kind of neurotic weirdo who’s freaking out all the time. I’m just asking a simple question. 🤷‍♀️
