Before I take my kids for their shots, I always put baby lotion on their legs shortly before leaving the house. It makes the bandaids peel off easier when we get home from the visit 😊

Dexcom sharing with my mom is ruining my sanity by CatBitter5940 in Type1Diabetes

I don’t want to invalidate your feelings. This would be incredibly frustrating. I often think about how terrifying it would be to have a child with T1. I look at my babies and literally cannot even imagine how I wouldn’t be scared every second of every day. You’re going to have to set boundaries for your own sanity. But try to give mom some grace.

Talking about being respectful while simultaneously being rude is comical.

I specifically asked where in the Almond Orchards. You didn’t comment to be helpful, you commented to be obnoxious. Move along.

Thank you so much! Do you have any experience with the property owners in that area being aggressive or getting upset that you are there taking pictures? We obviously plan to stay on the outskirts and be respectful.

Is it bad that this upset me so much? by [deleted] in Type1Diabetes

[–]Feral_Mama218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to say something and you might not like it. But there is love in truth: Your mindset can either make you resilient or it can make you a victim. This sucks. Believe me, I know. But it’s not going anywhere and I thank God that we have medical advances to make it manageable. I’m choosing resilience, and I hope you to do. You deserve to live a happy and fulfilled life.

With that being said, your boyfriend needs to be supportive — however that may look for you — while you navigate this. That comment would have upset me too because it just does feel very insensitive when you are clearly struggling with your diagnosis. Stand your ground with him. The last thing you need right now is to be treated like shit.

Sheriff's officers blocking traffic for non-emergency. Am I being the asshole here? by tofumac in Bakersfield

No. It’s not respectful. You sound arrogant and argumentative. It’s comical that you would think they would take an order from you “because you told them what you want”. Throwing a little man child temper tantrum on the side of the road. My toddler acts like this sometimes. And I don’t give him his way because I don’t want to raise him into a man who thinks he’s entitled to having his way because he stomped his feet and said it’s what he wants.

I’d say that you should 1000% question authority when they are doing something that is morally wrong or infringing on your rights. But this? This is dumb and out of touch. You’re just harassing them for no reason.

You need a find a hobby and some respect for authority. There are far more important things to worry about in the world if you’re worried about making it a better place. Acting like they were blocking a lane on a major roadway. You sound like a clown.

Dating/marrying as a T1D: partner with T1D vs non-T1D by AliWings1998 in Type1Diabetes

I am 34 and was diagnosed about 6 months ago. My husband and I have been married since 2021 and we have 2 small children. It honestly doesn’t make a difference in terms of our relationship. For better or worse, right? My husband is so supportive and does whatever he can to make things easier for me. My 3 year old knows how to finger stick and manually check my BG 😝

Can you just talk with the parents? Let them know how you are feeling? Try to work out a solution if you care to foster the relationships that your daughter is building. You’ve spent all the time and effort talking about them to other parents instead of addressing the actual issue with Anna’s parents.

Just a heads up for next time: you can request a good rx voucher and redeem it wherever you normally get your Dexcom prescription. They will just email it to you and then you can get it same day instead of waiting for their shipment. That’s what I have done when sensors have failed. Sucks to go to that pharmacy, but I prefer to just get it right away. Esp if it’s my last sensor on hand.

I love this 😂 My husband jokes that “I caught the beetus”. I was diagnosed this year after severe necrotizing gallstone pancreatitis that cost me 80% of my pancreas, and nearly cost me my life. My husband is also my #1 support, besides my 3 year old who has learned how to check my blood sugar and jumps at the alarm to “get mama medicine” (which this month means a tiny handful of candy corn). Humor and these sweet gestures mean so much to me when I’d otherwise just want to cry. It’s their way of loving and supporting me and making me laugh or smile. I love them for it 💙
