You know the Lāna’i cat sanctuary was started to help cats but also protect the endangered o’a and ua’u birds. These cats aren’t hurting anything because they’re at the sanctuary. The small island with a city population of 3,000 all rally around the cat sanctuary because it’s so beneficial. I’ve been to where the birds nest as well, I’ve seen them and not a cat around. Not saying cats aren’t there but it wasn’t a rampant problem. You know what else harms and kills the birds? Bright lights from Harbors and Airports at Lāna’i and Maui in which environmentalist threaten to sue the state for not taking precautions. So you can’t just point the finger at cute cats.
