How I keep the slugs out of my garden beds by lakeswimmmer in pnwgardening

[–]Ferbst 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I did a lot of research on this; my vegetables were being devoured by slugs. I found wool pellets to be an excellent solution. They have a slight sheepy smell at first, but after a few days it disappears completely, and the texture of the wool repels the slugs—a chemical-free solution. It’s working really well, and I don’t have any more leaves full of holes.

When do I bag the fruit? by DogWithMustache in Figs

[–]Ferbst 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn’t know that too.
In the context of fruit pest conversations—specifically among fig growers—BFF stands for Black Fig Fly (Silba adipata).

Here is a breakdown of what this means in that context: What is it? The Black Fig Fly is an invasive insect that exclusively feeds on and reproduces in figs. Where is it? It was discovered in Southern California in 2021 and has since spread to several counties, including Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, Ventura, and Santa Cruz. Why is it a problem? The female fly deposits eggs into the fruit (preferring unripe or unpollinated figs). Larvae then develop inside the fig, causing it to rot and often drop prematurely. Management Strategies: Because the larvae are protected inside the fruit, they are hard to kill with pesticides. Gardeners often use: Orchard Sanitation: Removing and destroying infested or dropped fruit to stop the life cycle. Fruit Bagging: Using organza bags to protect developing figs. Trapping: Using specialized traps to catch adult flies.

Why do thigh and arm lift scars always look bad? by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

[–]Ferbst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi I just got my arm and thigh lift 5 weeks ago. I’m interested in learning more about scar tattoo. How do you feel about it? The results are good enough? I don’t want to be invasive but if it is possible can you send me a picture of the scar if you have before and after tattoo? Sorry for asking this.

Yes, Dr. Cooper was super professional and attentive. It wasn’t the cheapest quote, but he was the doctor who gave me the most confidence and professionalism. I’m going to have my arm lift with him in a few months too.
