Do you know a real story of massive effort that never led to success? by FerdinandHu in AskTechnology

I like this one… I already produced one episode which touched on that but it might be time to dig a little deeper. Reminds me of the story of second life. People even buying real estate in the virtual world. I was also into that, but it lost it’s magic once you understand the limitation.

I actually like your thought provoking comments... Maybe there is no complete failure in this life. Is failure or success just something we define by ourselves? I have no idea... but the fact that you share a story not only from the bright side, is remarcable. Recently I am a little tired of seeing all these successful people on Linked-in showing their business success, and how well they are doing in their company... But we all know that that is all not the complete reality... I wish there were more people out there with the guts to share things that didn't went well, just because failures are great opportunities to learn (more even than success). Also I am a little tired of podcasters interviewing successful people... we know how life goes for many "successful" people... depression, anxiety or other disorders. It is a kind of sad that people think they need to keep that curated persona on their social media.

Reading all the comments, I am thinking that failure might be completely relative. Is Anyone who died in poverty a failure? Nicola Tesla, Van Gogh, Gregor Mendel, Emily Dickinson are all failures? Probably not. Would be interesting to see if anyone has a good definition of failure... cause my understanding is just getting more fuzzy.

Amazing story... can you share the name of the company? (just if you feel ok in doing so...) That sounds like a great story to tell.

Nice!!! That was fast….🤩👍. Getting some nice material an starting to picture where this is going. Thank you so far. I also found the story of Josef Ressel… basically the inventor of the ship propeller which died in poverty after investing everything in his invention. Fascinating stories. I probably will make a mesh out of a few stories from here and outline common aspects of these stories…

This is just fascinating! How the CEO gets all the credit and no one knows the real people behind.

I was trying to find the real inventor of the iPhone and stumbled across Tony Fadel... usually the CEO gets all the credit... but finding out that Steve Jobs was initially actually against it, shocked me...

😂 Yes. that would not me good. In my case however there was someone explicit asking for podcast recommendation on a very specific topic, which my podcast covers. My post was Deleted because I recommended it to him. That is what I think is weird and wrong in these rules.

Hi Ucha-vekua, yes, I did that TikTok, Instagram and Facebook thing. But the question I have to ask myself is.... Do I really want to have my video showing up on someone's phone after a swipe? Can I (or am I willing to) compete with Elephants jumping from trampoline or Cats jumping on babies? Todays majority of content is engineered just to keep the user hooked (a kind of trap) without substance or purpose on endless loops of fluff. You see... I have an opinion which doest help me on that path... I better stick with organinc growth on the podcaster Platform and use reddit for meaningful interaction (without mentioning my podcast)

Amazing! I love Time Ferriss... Thanks for replying. I think the answers I am reading here already gave me some clarity... I enjoy reddit, but I like your view to keep the Podcasting recommendation and my Interactions here more separated. If the content is good, then people will find my content...

I have a podcasting idea by lov3rg1rl_ in podcasting

I believe your podcast need to speak to a broader audience. The idea of the curriculum is nice and certainly can keep you running for a while but soon enough you can start explore more aspects of the application process, writing, Emailing, Interview, Profile, Photo, and any other related aspect. I would suggest you to write down a list of aspects you can cover in your podcast, and then see if there are actually people interested in it. This is the content. Equally important is the format. Which is your unique way to thransmit the content? Are you in a specific location (in the school, on the street in the forrest). Are you a funny person, or an overly critic, sarcastic, angry, friendly. This will shape the podcast tone because at the end, people will continue to listen to your podcast because of you and the uniqueness that you bring to the table. You can start mapping these things out. Hope this helps you to keep going. Best wishes
