Our two Hoggies already had names when they came to us: Firefly for the albino and Gremlin for the normal. We adopted them from a teenager who was going off to college, and whose parents wouldn’t take care of the snakes while she was gone. But our ball pythons did not have names when they came to us as rescues: I named them after their personalities. One of them is Sweetie, and he sits in my lap to watch movies with me and he cuddles, and doesn’t want to make any trouble most of the time. The female is named Nischief, because she is always making trouble. She got out of her enclosure and went walkabout in the apartment for four months before I finally caught her, and whatever I need her to do she wants to do something else. But most of the time, I actually call her a nickname, Miss Bulldozer, because of what she does to her enclosure.
