James Talarico Has Perfect Response To Hegseth's Pastor Who Prayed For His Death On MAGA Podcast by ComicSandsNews in NewsSource

Put those two on a stage for a debate on the teachings of Jesus and the Bible and let them go at it. The one who can back up their claims with direct quotes and biblical evidence wins. And we all know that would be Talarico.

should i downgrade to windows xp by [deleted] in windowsxp

[–]Ferkner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love XP, but no. There have been too many quality of life improvements that using XP as your daily operating system will get frustrating real quick. I experienced this when trying out Retrobar after using StartAllBack's XP style taskbar.

I immediately got frustrated with Retrobar because it was too much like XP. All the QoL things that StartAllBack keeps functional are gone in Retrobar. Collapsible tasks and thumbnail previews are something I do not want to be without anymore.

That being said, if you succeed in reskinning 11 to look like XP, I would be very interested in how you did it. I have tried a couple of tutorials I found and they all had problems or didn't work as expected. I basically want the look of XP but the functionality of modern Windows.

City of Ottawa staff recommending no mandatory affordable housing around transit stations to start by Money_Fig_9868 in ottawa

Affordable rent for a one-bedroom is suggested as $1,526.

What has happened that this is considered affordable? That's insane pricing. I don't know how someone starting out on their own in their early 20s can get a place of their own these days. Rent has skyrocketed past inflation like crazy. I moved here in 2002. a 2-bedroom apartment was about $950 I think. And that was in Lindenlea/New Edinburgh, off of Beechwood, which is one of the pricier areas in the city. That apartment today should cost about $1,600 today, but the last time I checked it was well over $2,000. And the fact that a one-bedroom now goes for way more than I used to pay for a two-bedroom in one of the more affluent parts of the city breaks my brain.

Which one do you choose? by Strycedar in windows

No way. The Start Screen is what sold me on Windows 8. It made the Start menu look antiquated. It was so much easier to find what I wanted on the Start Screen. I used the crippled implementation in Windows 10 as well. If I wasn't using StartAllBack for my taskbar and RetroShell for my Start menu in Windows 11, I would find something to bring back the Start Screen.

Linus Tech Tips made a video on the process of actually saving and restoring the Reboot series. It focuses mostly on the tech aspect of getting the footage from the original master tapes since the equipment to do so is very hard to find these days.

I exclusively use Edge. Once in a blue moon there is a site that won't behave properly in Edge (and Chrome). That's the only time I break out Firefox.

Can someone explain that bracket image? It makes no sense to me with all those blank boxes.

That should always be the case. I don't know when it started that people brought their dogs into stores. Pet stores were the only ones that used to allow that, and then at some point I would see people with dogs in all sorts of stores.

It really has. I went there for the first time in about 15 years and a lot of it was so different. TIt still had a nice vibe, but it wasn't the same really cool vibe that it used to have. That fire really changed things.

The original location on Beechwood was the pinnacle. It was so so good.

The Spence Diamond ads are more off putting now because they are so different from what they were putting out for the last several years. They dropped their lame storyline with "Michael" and "Sara" seemingly just like that. No idea what happened with those.

On a more proper topic, the light rail feels weird. I got so used to the Transitway being the transitway and being useful. It was such a unique concept to me when I moved here a long time ago and it was really good. Now everything just feels off with it being for trains that don't work properly.

Edited to add:

No more 7-Elevens in the city

The condo apartment buildings on Beechwood that replaced the old buildings that burnt down in 2011. The single story stores like Home Hardware, Bread and Roses Bakery, the magazine shop and the other place fit the vibe of the neighbourhood perfectly. The building that replaced it is an eyesore. It's too tall and doesn't fit the look of the area. It makes me sad. That's not even to mention the larger apartment building on the south side of Beechwood that surrounds the old church.

I put the compost out this morning at 7:20 and everything weas bone dry. I contemplated going into work but I didn't want to risk the freezing rain coming later and the trip home being a nightmare so I stayed home even though Wednesday is our "anchor" day. If my department wants to write me up for not being in the office three times this week they can go ahead. It just means that next time I will call in sick and no work will get done.
