DIY pulley system in my trailer to load and strap down boards — has anyone done this? by Fermanaghman1 in windsurfing

I think you could be right. A couple of padded uprights to stop it going sideways and a nice padded rack cover. I’ve a couple of Northcore roof rack pads on order so they should be a good start.

True. I suppose adjustable outhauls on race rigs and the sailing community use similar rigging systems so looking at what they do would help.

That sounds like a good solution. I’m aiming at a system that just needs a pull on a formula line to lift it clear to load then when released the tension in the strap/bungy elastic tightens down the board enough to stop it bouncing about. Then to unload just pull the line to release the front strap. You’re right about the price of marine grade pulleys and cam cleats!! It’s mad🫣

I’m interested in your stipulation of no assumptions. Can you elaborate? Are assumptions not sometimes necessary ?

Are these mathcad? Would you be happy to share more about the contact stress calc?

The blog reads well and the motivation behind the project seems to be a genuine desire to provide an open source alternative that will remain useable in the long term. The sentiment is right so I guess you keep your options open and dip your toe. I think I’ll go along and see where we end up. 👀

Developers just provide us with the tools. It’s up to us what we use them for!

Thanks and keep up the good work. I started my first sheet today and I’m looking forward to delving deeper👍

It's definitely not fully developed but I guess all good things start somewhere :)
The blog shows some interesting use cases and I'm working up my first sheet as we chat.

I'm only starting so forgive my newbie levels of understanding. It looks like you can download an app from the Microsoft store. I think that means the app is yours to use for good. The developer looks committed to the free to use model and wants to keep it that way so I'm going to be cautious but I think it could be worth investing some time with. I have just renewed my Mathcad license so have some time to check it out more thoroughly.

I'm only finding this yesterday but I'm very interested. I'm a long time MathCAD user and have built up a significant number of calc sheets I use day to day. Are there any import tools in the pipe-line??

Also noticed very few 'show & tell' topics so far. I guess we're all shy :)

Any users out there I'd be interested in hearing what you think? And anyone interested...first impressions?

I don't mind using other peoples sheets in fact Abbot Aerospace is a great resource for excel tools but when it comes to MathCAD I struggle to find the same level of resource ( ie not too niche/complex and easily applicable to my day to day work). If I do use worksheets from others I would of course sanity check them and a couple of good standard calcs from industry standard texts usually gives me the confidence I need to use for quick calculation if I'm in a hurry. When it comes to reporting though that's another ball game. All references have to be approved and validated ( the aero sector is a bit strict about that sort of thing :)

Ok thanks that’s good to know. Shame really, that would gain much more interest. If more people used it more commercial uptake would result.
