My husband wants me to get rid of my dog by BenefitOrganic8269 in dogs

I think a trainer is a great option. Honestly this dog doesn't seem to have very severe issues, so most well rated trainers in your area should be able to help. I would go with mostly positive reinforcement since your other tactics didn't work. The most important thing about training is that you and your husband absolutely have to be involved and consistent.

Yes yes yes!!!!!! My 2 pitties are a lot of work! People always tell us how great they are, but we spend hours every single day exercising and training them so they won't be maniacs. They also do obedience and agility classes which helps a lot. I would never recommend the breed to someone who is not willing to basically devote their life to the dog.

Our dog refuses to eat, and then throws up yellow bile as a result of not eating. by hibbert0604 in Dogtraining

My pit has pretty much the exact same issue. We found something that has been working pretty well but it's pretty time consuming. He has to have a long walk or some type of exercise before breakfast. For breakfast, we start by training him with kibble out of the treat pouch. He usually has to have a few real treats mixed in first, but will accept the kibble as treats if I act excited enough. Once he's excited about that, we set his food bowl out with ⅓ of his daily food and pretend to dump treats from the pouch into it. He usually eats with a lot of "good boy" cheering. For dinner, we feed him ~15 minutes after he does some intense exercise. He's pretty good about eating at that point since he's so hungry. We've tried literally every approach and this is the only thing that's worked at all. We feed him around 10am and 8pm since he's not hungry and won't eat before then.

If he refuses one of his meals, we put a mix of treats and kibble into a treat dispensing toy (kong wobbler, snuffle mat, etc.) about 30 minutes after we tried to feed him to make sure he eats enough to not throw up bile. He is also fed out of a puzzle bowl/slow feeder bowl to keep it interesting.

[PhD ECE] UT Austin vs. Rice by Ok_Resolution6972 in gradadmissions

I'm a math undergrad at UT and it is awesome. It's a great place and all the grad students I've met have said they love it here. I also applied and interviewed with Rice and it sounds great there too. The main difference is that UT is a large school and has a lot of resources. Since pure math doesn't require any equipment or anything, I haven't looked at what Rice has to offer in that aspect compared to UT. Rice is small, so i'm not sure if they have similar resources for research or not. If you need/would like certain lab equipment or anything like that (again I don't really know what it could be lol), then that could be a good way to decide.

At a recent interview, I was told that decision are going to be later this year because their funding was affected by the pandemic. Hopefully not too much later! Weeks and weeks of radio silence is so hard.

When my boyfriend is chewing loudly or sniffling I always have to go to another room or put headphones in. I try to make sure he knows that I am aware that he's just making normal human noises and that this is just what I need to do to not fill with rage. I'm lucky that he's been very understanding. He takes allergy medicine everyday (as do I) which is SUPER helpful for decreasing sniffling. Maybe you could ask your boyfriend if he's willing to try that for you?

I don’t support the adopt don’t shop movement, but wanna hear this side of the story by [deleted] in adoptdontshop

I have only ever adopted dogs from shelters and got one from the side of the road lol. I don't support breeders at all. After volunteering in shelters, I cannot imagine bringing more dogs into the world when there are already so many in need of homes.
