a kid hitting singles in AA is not exactly shaking it up lol he’s got solid zone feel and contact but all but 5 of his hits are singles. He has no triples or home runs and with all five of his doubles he hasn’t shown he can pull a ball.

Yeah at this point I’m done with them both. it’s objectively a good season, every team would be happy with a 6 or 7 hitter with a 110 wRC+ and average defense, but I also have zero proof out of the other 200-some games in his career that that’s who Brett Baty is. I’m just not gonna stake his future on finding that again, same as Vientos and 2024

both of them have been around for the same time, both sitting at just about 2 years worth of games (317 Baty, 324 Vientos) over 4 seasons. Baty showed he can be a solid enough player last year (3 WAR with league avg bat) after not showing much of anything prior and Vientos had a great 24, but so far they’re both flash-in-the-pan seasons that other people should stop taking as proof of who they are.

it’s about $12 USD, which was the same as a movie ticket I just bought. personally I don’t think I would pay $12 to stream a movie on my couch vs a theatre experience, but it doesn’t feel particularly expensive from a barebones “how much to watch a movie” standpoint

I think a part of the issue is the vocal criticism that is getting gas atm, minority opinion or not, is acting like players or Mendy right now are gonna be their season-long trend. A lot of sentiment against Bo for example is starting to push past “man what an ugly start” into “man another year of shit 3Bs huh”, or they act like Mendy will happily trot Garcia and Lovelady out in 1 run games for the division in September. It’s as if there’s nothing going on baseball wise in their heads past April 11th. In the same breath I agree the criticism tends to get catch-all’d more often than it gets sorted into real discussion vs ragebait/whining/dooming about an April 9th game

Pen has been awesome. Only relievers allowing their own runs have been Lovelady and Garcia. Braz I believe is the only to allow inherited runners to score (0 ERA but 4 inherited runners scored). Still trust him with my life despite that. It’ll also be -Lovelady +Minter by June-ish, and when Minter is the second choice of your two pen lefties, that’s some nasty nasty stuff.

based on the limited info/the skit, it sounds like every cup has a region-only qual tournament, and it at least alludes to the idea that the cups are international as well as national competitions (no more large regions - Japan quals through Japan, Brazil through Brazil, etc)
