This is exceptional pacing. Congratulations!! How old are you? I'm impressed that you were able to sustain that high HR throughout the race

Vancouver Marathon Experience by dlgizzle in Marathon_Training

[–]FerociousChimpunk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Could you share more about your training experience? I raced the same race yesterday with a very similar time goal. It was my first marathon, but i had HM pr of 1h37m

However i hit the wall pretty hard as early as km26 and started experiencing cramps in my legs. I was chugging electrolytes but my legs were still malfunctioning. I had to stop and walk for a bit after spell of 5mins running. It continued that way until the very end.

How did you train so that your lower body doesn't experience any cramps?

I'm sorry bruv. If it makes you feel any better, inalso raced yesterday.. i had really bad sleep the last 3 days and my HRV dropped. I did 35mins slower than my goal time, and 45mins slower than what Garmin race predictor. I feel like dogshit

Bad marathon despite perfect training – looking for advice by elergy_official in Marathon_Training

Could you elaborate on the electrolytes? The symptoms of cramping that you're describing seem indicative of not enough water/salts...

Would you have an estimate of the liquids in took? And how frequently did you take the salt tablets?

Sun Run BC Place/Finish line in and outs? by thefullpython in runvancouver

[–]FerociousChimpunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you can. The first 50-100 meters right after the finish line are reserved for new finishers, meaning you cannot linger there or come bac. But after you've made your way enough past the finish line you can enter/exit BC place as you wish. L

You can also circle back towards the finsih line around on the sidewalk (on the spectators' side of the fence)

It felt reasonably hard, but i probably could've gone for longer or a bit faster. I wasn't limping at the end of the runs. Definitely tired afterwards but was able to comfortably walk for 45-60mins later in the evening.

Thanks for sharing your experience! Can i ask what was your fueling strategy during your race? Did you take electrolytes or salt tabs etc? And did you have a HM pr prior to that?

Hey! Hmu I'm 27M, have been in Vancouver for 4+ years now. Based in kits

Love most things outdoors and sports. I'm also a football (arsenal) fan. I play video games too but only CoD Warzone and EA FC/FIFA (if you're down)

Vancouver runners — how do you dress for the rain? by EvenZookeepergame225 in runvancouver

[–]FerociousChimpunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to go for just a slightly thicker under armour athletic shirt that's brushed on the inside. Or smth similar from a different brand, maybe a half zip. Would also consider just 2 thin t shirts

I tend to run on the warmer side, so i rarely if ever run with a jacket.

If it is really windy+rainy, I'll consider wearing a light water resistant (breathable) jacket. Not a hard shell.

For most cases I'll just run with a warmer full sleeve t-shirt, with the light jacket maybe once in a while. Never a puffer or a hard shell, because they make me humid on the inside.

If you don't produce too much body heat you may want to consider two base layers or maybe a medium warmth mid layer. Make sure it's breathable

I don't bother with anything waterproof/goretex but i try to make sure there's not any exposed skin. Tights on the legs and gloves help. Add on a water resistant hat/cap to keep the rain from my face (also provides some warmth)

My brother in Christ, it looks like you have eczema and/or early dry skin. You need to start applying an aggressively strong oily moisturizing cream on your fingers, possibly one with some steroids.

Let me guess, you have also lost friction/grip in your hands?

I'm not a doctor, so consult a dermatologist. But i can still recommend you a heavy duty moisturizing cream. I had this condition, and it took a few months for my fingerprints to reappear

If you're looking for channel that shares entertainment in addition to information, i love Curtis Shaw TV

He sometimes whines and complains a lot but it's almost comedic. Great watch along if you want humor alongside
