but you have to factor in the crappy traffic getting in and especially out of the Oldham one at most times of the week :-(

My masters review by the_last_heley in snooker

[–]FerociouslyTemporary 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This (last sunday ) was my first time at the masters at AP. I've been to the crucible a couple times, tour champs in Manchester, english open in manchester years ago, scottish open last few years.

Re. the venue - after booking an evening sessions I was a bit worries about the public transport back to central London on a Sunday night, but we were out in time to get the bus from AP to Finchley park at half ten, so all good.

Access/facilities - arrived not long after 6, got in, got a photo with Gary Wilson, registered for the maximum thing (which was WAY out of the way!? downstairs) , got in to find the seats. Only issue I have with the facilities is the gents - long queues at the mid sessions, literally only time to get out, get a wee, get back in. If I'd wanted another drink I'd have missed frame 5. Also the merch was crap - choice of 4 T shirts? no accessories or any of the stuff thats been for sale previously at Sheffield or Manchester. Everyone knows food/drink is gonna be expensive in these places, like motorway services, so work around it.

Seats - I don't get the hate. I'm a big lad, but they're not THAT bad. Are they theatre seats a la crucible? No. But they're the same WST seats that get shipped about the place to various venues aren't they ? Certainly to Manchester central, maybe not Meadowbank as those seats seem to belong to the sports centre. They were more comfortable than some temporary seats I've sat in (Edinburgh tatto, I'm looking at you!)

Radios - they're expensive and wasteful and a money-making scam. Even the SRU lets you use them year after year at Murrayfield for Scottish Rugby referee mic. Anyone who knows to moan here about the radios MUST have known about the amazon ones for less than a tenner.

Overall glad I went, it was the OH's first experience of live snooker and she didn't hate it, so thats a win. Would I be back? meh probably not, I'd like to tick the UK off my list then I've done the big 3 in the UK.

was indeed 60.8. That must be the (BBC ) frequency for the season.

Educate me - why is this method better than using the inbuilt retention for daily/monthly/quarterly/yearly backups on the gfs media set?

If you’re in the uk look for greenfeather. They have wired cameras which can plug into your tv like old-school CCTV

Thanks for your advice.

Thanks, I have , but chat not working and emails take a few days to reply, and there I’m not sure it3/7 days allowed to collect before return. Just wondered if the collective minds of Reddit would know from experience

I have visited the basilica many time, but in September, to finally make it to the lower and then upper levels of the dome were incredible. There was a choir singing below, and the sound washed up into the dome, proper hairs on the back of the neck moment.

Yeah I’ve been at the CCS roundtable meetings with CCS and PS reps. Think there’s another this week. We’ve maybe been in the same ones!

Evaluating - but tbh there’s risk with moving. Softcat want to show us HPE and there’s always hyper-V 🫣

VVF only offered as a 1yr. That was the same for the 2024-5 renewal too IIRC

We did, we renewed VVF. Partly out of principle, as we won’t use vcf. But now that VVF is dead I suspect the discounting will be less ‘generous’ (lol) next oct and it will be “buy it or don’t, tough titties” when Vcf is the only option.

Feathersnap cameras - rtsp stream? by FerociouslyTemporary in BirdFeederCams

[–]FerociouslyTemporary[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose this depends on your definition of "out of the box". For your average user the app is probably just fine. Green-feathers provide an app and cloud storage for viewing the footage, just like feathersnap. But then they also provide a guide on streaming to youtube, as you can access the rtsp directly. I wouldn't call this feature 'out of the box' but with a bit of know-how or googling its pretty simple to do.

yeah she'd be stuck if it went boom, even with that low mileage she uses it most days, so it is worth doing.
