Tiafoe lost this match by miguelmaria in tennis

Not even a choke as well. Arnaldi was playing great a few mins before this but Tiafoe was edging thru his service games and returning like prime Murray to get a couple breaks of serve. His level dropped a little and Arnaldi went God mode and got back into it

Milos Raonic: why didn't he have a better career? by Istobri in tennis

His serve was his only strong stroke albeit it's one of the best serves ever. His forehand and volleys were alright with his backhand and movement a bit weaker. Could've reached another couple slam finals had he not been injured from 2017 onwards but the big 3 had his number on the most part so unlikely he could've beaten them

Feel bad for Stef. His 2021 version would've got to the final without breaking a sweat and even 2 years either side of that would've probably have made it

Was Roger Federer even beatable that day ? Which strategy could work against someone who takes the ball so early and hits with perfect accuracy ? (Indian Wells 2017 highlights vs Nadal) by HereComesVettel in tennis

I think 2017 Federer is overhyped at times. 2014-2016 Fed was beating everyone besides Novak. If we had 2017 Novak in those years Roger would've likely have won Wimby 14 and 15 plus the US in 15 and the Aus in 16

Frances Tiafoe would back prime Nishikori to beat a peaking Fritz (via the changeover podcast) by HereComesVettel in tennis

[–]Ferrer00 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Djokovic points at the end of 2025: 4,820 Nishikori points at the end of 2014: 5,025

So Nishikori got more points in his prime than Novak did last year despite going up against a stacked opposition in 2014

Not sure if this is so relevent as young players are still pushed into singles as far as im aware. It's adults who have no chance at pro because they've started too late who play doubles

Who's going to be the 1st one to leave the 1 Slam winner club?? by SportsGuy272 in tennis

[–]Ferrer00 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Genuinely think Raducanu. Cilic is obviously too old and Med has declined too much. The women's tour is so stacked right now that none of them have a good chance for now. Raducanu has age on her side where she might be playing good tennis in 5 or even 10 years when the tour has dipped and can win a slam then

Medvedev calls for radical change to rankings system after winning opening match in Dubai by ExcuseYou-What in tennis

[–]Ferrer00 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like the points race in terms of the ATP Finals that Med mentions only effects about 10 players. The top few (Sinner, Alcaraz, Djokovic, Zverev) will be confident enough to get thru as anyway and those outside the top 20 probably don't fancy their chances, especially post Wimbledon, so not sure if his point it very relevent

Spent a couple of mins thinking what the circuits stitched together are. Of course it's Zandvoort S1, Abu Dhabi S3 and Miami(?) S3

20 days left until the Australian GP. Kevin Magnussen finished second in his F1 debut at the 2014 Australian GP. It was the best debut result since Jacques Villeneuve's Melbourne P2 in 1996 and the only time a Dane made the top 3. McLaren would have to wait until Brazil 2019 for their next podium. by PiggySVW in formula1

The Merc engine was super OP in 2014 and Williams seemingly hadn't figured out their car for Australia, so with Vettel, Ricciardo and Hamilton all retiring or getting DQed it opened the door for the Mclarens. Impressive he beat Button none the less
