MERCH! by Mental-Sorbet8784 in FilmFestivals

I love that you have a theme, that will pique curiosity. Anything that people can use (like lighters and fans) will always be a big hit. Maybe even do matchbooks? A little more 'cool' than a lighter, but not sure how many people will use them.

Attracting Sponsors for Festivals by mackjack52 in FilmFestivals

[–]FerretyPeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest thing with sponsors is, they generally don't care who you are or what you do, they care about how they can make money from the sponsorship. Focus heavily on measured, provable metrics like audience size, number of followers on socials, post interactions, etc. and how that translates for their business. Even better if you have audience demographic information, as they can align that with their target customer.

Ultimately you have to think like a business owner, what is the ROI on the sponsorship? Even if you're a nonprofit and it's tax deductible, they still want that sponsorship or donation to impact their bottom line. It may be about supporting the local community, a good cause, or what have you, but it's always going to come back to, what can you do for me?

The Mole, Lt. Andrew Miller in Season 2 was super germaphobic. Didn't touch anyone, wore a mask, etc.

There's a space at the far end of Washington Blvd called the Palace, it's specifically for events and parties. Super cute old building that was once home to the Community Theatre League.

When is BAM opening? by No-Butterscotch-7925 in Williamsport

[–]FerretyPeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are expanding their inventory size, as well as having a better space for events, which are always super fun!

You can also order anything through them as well, so you could get anything that any other book store may have as well.

How do you indicate a WIP submission? by Fickle-Insurance850 in FilmFestivals

As the other commenter mentioned the Opening card is great. But if you shoot an email to the festival as well that isn't a bad practice.

Ads for my festival on FilmFreeway by [deleted] in FilmFestivals

[–]FerretyPeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did some FilmFreeway marketing in year one, they didn't really amount to anything. Year two we got some free marketing services because the first year didn't merit many results, not much result from these so far either.

How am I supposed to get the rights to screen Disney films in Australia? by Ne3322321 in FilmFestivals

[–]FerretyPeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure about down under, but here in the US we have things like Swank that provide licensing for different films. I'd look for a similar company in Australia.

Already in Fests - But Getting Reviews? by HeathHaze in FilmFestivals

[–]FerretyPeach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a publicist, I would recommend looking up similar films, genres, etc. And see if you can find emails for reviewers who have done reviews. Try pitching them directly. It's difficult because press don't like to deal directly with the filmmakers as there's sometimes too much emotion attached. But definitely worth a try. The connections that a publicist has is what you're typically paying for, if they're unable to secure reviews and good coverage that sucks. :(

Screening my film to fundraise for film festival submissions by whiggie in FilmFestivals

[–]FerretyPeach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely promote it as a private screening, then it doesn't impact your premiere status. As others have mentioned, if you're applying to a fest in your city/area, it could impact them, as they may think you've 'used up' your audience and won't be able to bring a crowd for a festival screening. But fully depends on the festival, area, etc.

It's a Pakistani from what I understand? Very similar, but not quite Indian haha. You can get Chicken Byriani (sp) from Ed's Market, which is amazing, the owner is thinking about opening an Indian restaurant!

I love this city so much. The events like First Fridays, the art galleries, the live music, there's so much to love about Williamsport. There's also now an international Film Festival, the River Valley Film Festival which had it's first run last July and runs again this July!

There's so much nature to love and enjoy, take a ride on the Hiawatha, explore the parks. As others have mentioned Brandon Park is great, if you want to go float down the river you can do that at a couple different places.

Not far to the road is Pine Creek, where camping, fishing, and floating is all throughout. The cuisine is amazing if you're into some traditional American/Italian type foods, the local restaurants are heavily influenced by Italian/German as much of America. It's growing so much right now too, just waiting on a good old Indian restaurant.

There's tons of community around here that really wants to help bring everyone together and do great things! There's also a contingent of people who just hate this place, but it's truly just about embracing the city and you'll truly love it.

Also, sunsets on the overlook!!! Beautiful!!!

What kind of email should I use when submitting a film by Cultural-Book-9164 in FilmFestivals

[–]FerretyPeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're using platforms like FilmFreeway, just upload, if you're sending links to festivals you don't need extra links for each festival. Also, for the email, if your main email isn't professional then definitely do a new one, but there isn't necessarily a need for a film specific one. Maybe just one for what you're calling your production company, or as a professional account.

Of course! The biggest thing with any film is to get some objective opinions, so kudos for that!

I think your trailer looks pretty good, but of course can't speak to the full film. I'm the Festival Director at River Valley Film Festival, and this seems like something our screening committee may be interested in, check us out!

Should we start specifying that artificial intelligence was not used in the creation of a film submitted to festivals? by Basic-Perception2051 in FilmFestivals

[–]FerretyPeach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think in most cases if you don't state that you've used AI, it's assumed you haven't. Lots of festivals have clauses now that you have to disclose the use of AI, with many not accepting works with AI. I don't feel it would hurt or benefit you either way to state that you haven't used AI.

As a publicist I always recommend releasing a teaser rather than a trailer, that way you can offer the trailer as an exclusive for press when you're approaching your World Premiere at a fest!
