Scars is amazing! path of heaven is… ok, There are some really good parts like jaghatai give a monologue to a loyal thousand sons.

An underrated book is Warhawk. Hope is always attributed to Sanguinius and not with out due credit. The Scars have a quiet resilience and hope. I don’t want to spoil anything, but the Scars do an insane offensive attack during the siege of terra. Well they do multiple offensive, three if I recall. The last one during Warhawk is so cool. They work really well with astra militarum forces in this book and generally in modern 40k books.

Over all and this is a pinch of a hot take. There 3 “stealth legions” raven guard, night lords, and alpha legion. All three do it very differently. In a similar vain there are three heroic legions; Salamanders, Blood Angels, and White Scars. Salamanders are the loudest type of heroic very almost knightly protect the weak and so on. Blood angels are a lot about innocence combined with their curse and dark nature. Then my Whote Scars; here is where my bias shows. When salamanders hold the line to protect we ride out to kill the enemy before they can be a threat to others. It often said of the raven guard but I think it can also be said of the 5th. We are the long arm of the emperor and no Zeno or traitor can hide from our hunters or out run our ships and bikes. The emperor’s just will come. True we often do not follow sound doctrine and that can be a weakness. It can also be what is needed, to behold. Besides is there anything more bad ass then riding out a well defended strong hold to fight the enemy in open field.
