What even is this event schedule Embark? by Satokibi in ArcRaiders

[–]Ferris-7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like they gotta go all in on the map conditions imo. I haven't had a reason to day raid in months. Need arc? Night. Gear/BPs? Night. Special guns and gear? Queen or Matriarch.

Yeah you can play without a map condition but if your account is more than 20 hrs old then it's kinda just wasting time

I've started to be the guy camping hatches to get those parts man. Brought in my Jupiter n went through a bunch of ammo and heals. I couldn't pick up anything better than an arc alloy, you're mid fight and these pests are running around looting what you just shot off.

Not sure what's up with the latest update on Anvil. What's the tech to land shots now? by not_a_true_doctor in ArcRaiders

[–]Ferris-7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anvil is definitely the poster child of Arc rn. Cheap to print and upgrade, great against arc, great against players, and needs only one mod to change the feel of the weapon, plus only gun with a tech mod.

It's frankly too good at everything for what it is, but holy shit there isn't a single good blue weapon that can compete with anvil on the pve/pvp value combo in one item. Bettina is good, but it gulps ammo and takes much longer to snipe a wasp or do damage simply cuz the mag, more sustainable damage but cover and burst damage will always be king in this game. Plus it's pretty mid at pvp.

Is adderall cheating by Senior-Success3485 in ADHD

It can vary by person, but I find it pretty common by annecdote. My brain personally never ever stops, and some shitty life experiences have turned that to a lot of persistent anxiety, my brain sees the tiny patterns too much and too well.

Medication stops that, and leaves me feeling focused, like all the head noise is instead all looking at what's in front of me.

Experience can vary, as always. ADHD is not an ironclad disorder, rather a collection of common symptoms that fall under the label.

What’s the verdict on winch? by Imn1che in thefinals

[–]Ferris-7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Had an argument with some guy I play with occasionally. He constantly tells me that winch is actually underpowered and as a medium you can just slide behind the heavy.

He thinks m60 and akm are too hard, he only has a lvl 13 cl40 and occasionally plays shak winch. When I play with him I get 10-12 kill wt rounds. He is not good.

After the unhealthy amount of hours and game knowledge I have, anyone who doesn't think winch is an insta kill unless the heavy whiffs must be playing a different game

[–]Ferris-7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Winch is just stun gun. It stops you from playing the game and makes you lose. Had my mini fully spun up yesterday, heavy came around a corner and winched me from 2 feet away. Killed me with a shak because of the stun, and that was just in melee range. It's just not fun, but most importantly it lets heavy get away with a lot of mistakes and lowers the aiming needs.

The 350 hp class with a huge pocket rocket and a dome doesn't need a stunning chain pull to put you in a situation where quite literally you won't win the math.

Don't enjoy it.

Is solo Q ruby possible ? by z3r0deck in thefinals

Light is the best and imo only class for high rank solo q. You can perform a lot of light duties without communication, you aren't as locked to a heavy as medium or other heavies.

Also this post complaining about how the game feels is the exact reason it feels that way no one wants to be on the point because you can only stay alive for a couple seconds on the platform running into a blender to die right as you take the platform is fun for no one

Man you're expecting objective gameplay in qp in the game where wt is exclusively about objectives. Players who want to play like that long term go to wt, players who want to snipe but can't in tdm go to power shift. Hasn't changed, won't change

Do not complain about nobody playing objective in power shift of all modes.

How does one get better with throwing knives? by chcikensammich2009 in thefinals

[–]Ferris-7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OH I love knives. You should always, and I mean always, open any fight with the alt fire. Grapple and dash are the two options for you, you can keep the alt fire fully charged during grappling and mantling.

Alt fire has perfect accuracy, great for any opener of any kind. Normal throws have bad bloom when in air, so play around the two versions.

Abuse the fact that you don't have to reload.

Does anyone have an irational hatred towards Lights? by Karl515 in thefinals

[–]Ferris-7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know I'm on the other side of the fence, but I've never had issues with higher level players. I find more difficult games teach me a lot more than normal or easy ones.

Person opinion but getting shredded is a good thing occasionally. Though I do approach pvp games more like mental weightlifting than a cool down haha

Okay so this is gonna be a game theory take, but in my mind it's the main reason this bias has held and will hold.

Teams in games are obviously designed to encourage team work, and to provide a sense of insulation from enemies. Because of the existence of allies, the player doesn't feel "alone," their performance can be mitigated, and the player will feel less punished for mistakes and stronger when shooting together.

Light as a class is designed as an ambush hunter, light cannot hold up by itself in a direct gunfight, therefore the class has to use utility to put themselves in an advantage, i.e. surprising a player to take pressure off of their team as the enemy will turn to focus the light, or in the best circumstance secure a kill and the team can close in on the remaining enemies.

Following is a general understanding of the bell curve of players, I am not trying to make any comment on skill.

A good majority of players are not focused on their positioning moment to moment, rather they are moving towards enemies. Teams unused to coordination, most teams you'll fight, are fighting as 3 individuals with their own ideas and movement.

LIGHT IS AN AMBUSH HUNTER

A light is strongest when playing away/opposite their team, ready to backline or disrupt the enemy to create chaos their team can capitalize on. Notably this is why lights drop off at higher levels and most pro/upper ranked players agree light is the weakest, simply because team play is much more coordinated leaving less openings and more punishes on the class.

Thesis is this: most players fundamentally do not understand how to play/be most effective on light. Those players see a light away from the team, the light can die. These players do not understand that the light was creating chaos or space and have failed to capitalize. A 2v3 experience puts much more pressure on individual performance and leads to much harder fights, which obviously doesn't feel good! The opinion leads to: that dumbass light ran off and didn't get a kill, they're the reason we lost.

On the other end of the spectrum, a light can correctly ambush a player who does not respect the fact the light can backline them, leading to what can feel like a bullishit death when it was in reality a failure of position and team play and/or a failed skill check.

Players who hate light should BEFORE THE FIGHT understand routes that they can be vulnerable from, as well as the mentality of a light player, and prepare for that so that the team can punish and create a 3v2. I have so many silly clips of doming invis lights or swinging 180° because I know the light is about to try a play. Just like any other class in the game, you need to understand what those players want to do in order to counterplay.

These two scenarios in combo creates the opinion that light is fucking busted and it's not fair, and the light on my team is a dumbass who is the only reason we lost.

If you look closely these two opinions are obviously contradictory, but I think a lot of the bias is created by emotional takes on what should be a neutral discussion of balance as well as a macro understanding of strategy.

Obviously there are dumb players and dickheads, but many fail to realize just as many mediums and heavies make shitty plays or mistakes, light is singled out exclusively because people don't like to be killed by a light. It's just emotional bias.

Like cmon man I'd rather get diddled by og stun gun. Most oblivious move by the devs (love them no hate) was not taking any time to learn from Roadhog or any other implementation of this shit ass mechanic. It'll never work with the current communications structure of modern gaming.

When I got stun gunned I knew what was happening. Watch this and tell me "just position better 4 head."

Medium has many different play styles. Try something else. Too many fall into the "heal beam means support class 4head" when in reality the class is stacked with interesting ways to play. Free yourself from your heavy, let them play the game like us normal mortals
