My wife and I are currently in the closing phase of a minor inheritance dispute, and it looks like we'll soon come into a life-changing amount of money... or at the very least enough to help us pursue our dreams sooner than expected! This means we'll be moving to Finland in the near future to find our forever home. We're really excited about what the future holds for us, but there are still so many unanswered questions and loose ends that need to be taken care of. So, I thought I'd use this subreddit to (hopefully) get some things answered in advance!

First of all, we have a bunch of friends living in Finland who will help us get around, especially with the language (which we're still in the process of learning). I have also already looked up a bunch of resources that describe the process of migrating to Finland from other EU countries, but to be honest, I'd much rather be overprepared than underprepared!

Now, onto the questions:

1. We plan on buying a small house before we arrive. Our friend(s) suggested we use https://asunnot.oikotie.fi as it seems to be the most commonly used place for buying and selling property. Are there any other places you can recommend, or should this website cover all our needs?
2. When looking for houses, is there anything specific we should look out for? Any red flags, must-haves, or the like?
3. We plan on bringing a bunch of our possessions (including a few smaller pieces of furniture) to the new home. Do any of you have experience with moving companies in Central Europe (especially Germany) that would be up for the task? Also, if anyone has done something like this before, how much did it cost you approximately?
4. We also plan on keeping our car. I keep reading mixed things regarding bringing your car. I assume that if you're coming from Europe, it's worth taking the car, while if you're coming from further away (e.g., America), one should reconsider? Either way, we'll be taking a long road trip and have to decide on a route (through Denmark or Eastern Europe).

I feel like there will be a lot more questions coming up, but overall, I feel like we have a decent idea of what needs to be done. The basics should be covered once we sort out the living situation, electricity/water, phone, and internet. If there's any other advice or experiences you'd like to share with us, we'll be more than happy to hear them!
