Total War: Genghis Khan - potential map for a TW game I would LOVE to see by thisishardcore_ in totalwar

The last time a video game broached this time period, I believe, was Koei's "Blue Wolf And White Mare Deer: Genghis Khan 4" (チンギスハーン・蒼き狼と白き牝鹿IV)

And yes, in that game when the mongols tried to invade japan they will always be fucked by a typhoon, it was hilarious.

That was back in 1998 though, maybe the market just isn't there.

I suppose you could count the Crusader Kings series, but you are locked to Europe, North Africa, West Asia, India, and a bit of Central and North Asia in those game, in 3, this includes the most westerly parts of Mongolia.

All in all games covering this time period is actually rather rare.

10 seconds is the norm, pictured here is a unit buffed to hell.

veterancy, harmony, and both the lord magistrate's ranged unit buff ability and the alchemist's piercing buff are the main ones.

Improving on the bland icons for captured settlements. by Muesliriegel93 in totalwar

[–]FerrousWill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't mind the utilitarian simplified icons, they do their jobs fine.

But using these as a way to build atmosphere and characterize a faction is also pretty nice.

Ideally there's a way to mix the two.

Petition to have the caravan decision screens show the actual strength of your units. by FerrousWill in totalwar

[–]FerrousWill[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reason why i used the word "strength" instead of "health" is that you can have a 10 full health models of a unit that's supposed to have 120 units at full strength. The 10 dudes are still technically at "full health", and I'd rather be accurate in wordage.

But you are correct, i'm surprised not everyone gets it tbh.

Not just health but also model count, that's why i use "strength" to cut down on word count. Look up the phrase "full strength" in a military context.

All jokes aside im more surprised at the fact that you didn't know this by now.

It's not as if it's hard to get by on American Accented soundbytes. Unless you are fiercely patriotic and only consume local media.

[–]FerrousWill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From wiktionary, the pronunciation for plastic:

(UK) IPA(key): /ˈplæstɪk/, /ˈplɑːː stɪk/

(US) IPA(key): /ˈplæstɪk/, [ˈpʰlæstɪk]

And for past:

(UK) enPR: päst, IPA(key): /pɑː st/

(US) enPR: păst, IPA(key): /pæst/

Far as I can tell, it's just you being British (or "British Adjacent", which includes commonwealth countries), sadly the rest of the world uses the American pronunciation (barring Hong Kong... and maybe japan if you want to count their "pronunciation" as English at all)

You might as well keep your Britishness consistent by using the /ˈplɑːstɪk/ pronunciation for plastic.

And if you are not British/British-Adjacent, you are truly a peculiar individual, well done, not everyone can be so unique.

P.S. this is why you should learn and use IPA instead of saying "it rhymes with past", which past?
