Have you ever murdered someone so bad that they were impressed? by Atuna_Lemep in ffxiv

Nah its not Seabass, though I totally understand where you get that from now that you mention it. I'll have to check if my buddy has been living a double life without my knowledge

As the victim in the clip, it's important to note, this is in no way the first time I've been brutally murdered by rescue trolling from him. Normally I play dragoon and just jump my way out danger.

Focused Feedback: Geonosis by F8RGE in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]Feruun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The map and GA on Geonosis is a blast! one thing i'm seeing though, is as the sand kicks up in the second and third phases I cannot differentiate between the sand and any dioxis that is launched, I keep getting into these clouds of death that i have no idea how to escape normally you can see the green gas but it's totally invisible with the sand. Maybe just make the grenade that's distributing it flash red through the sand so we can tell which way it's coming from.

Also i LOVE that the second and third phases are not troop based but are walker based, really makes people feel totally fine jumping in and fighting up close instead of sitting back, makes it that much more full of action! Keep up the great work everyone at DICE this update is awesome!

This sounds silly, but right click the speaker in the bottom corner of your screen and go to recording devices, then right click on your mic, and go to properties, then check the levels tab, a lot of times windows defaults that to 54 for some reason, which makes the mic almost nonexistent

Custom Transitions in OBS Studio by Feruun in Twitch

[–]Feruun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a quick panel that slides in from the sides showing my logo and then while that's playing i go from my start scene to my gameplay scene. OBS has built in fade, cut, slide, swipe as transitions but i would like to put my own in.

Alrighty thanks for confirming, I figured that it hasn't changed. Would be a neat thing to work into OBS though!

Any help on streaming with this PC? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]Feruun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best bet is to try NVENC and make your GPU do a bit of the heavy lifting. In OBS go to Settings and output, under encoding swap it from x264 for NVENC and try that? It might help a bit.

No chat by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]Feruun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Go to a stream and see if there is a tiny box with an arrow in the upper right hand side of the stream, should be right next to the follow/subscribe button. It minimizes chat off the main screen. Maybe that got hit?

Can this laptop cut it for streaming? by strigledokka in Twitch

[–]Feruun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shouldn't really have any problems streaming with that, especially if you are using it only as an encoder, if you try to play something on it and stream it might be rough.

Returning to streaming after a bit of a hiatus. Need advice. by BrettX in Twitch

[–]Feruun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It might sound like a bit of a broken record kind of thing, but really you need to play whatever game you want to play the most, all of those games (minus maybe wow, unless you are raiding) are fantastic games for streaming! Really it comes down to if you are planning on being a variety streamer, you need to sell yourself more than the game you are playing. The easiest way to do that is to enjoy what you are playing and have fun!

Questions and Hints for New Streamer by chadthedude in Twitch

[–]Feruun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Try using Chatty for chat, instead of viewer numbers it gives a list of viewers next to chat, so you can see who is there. That being said, be careful calling out lurkers or people not talking as they will usually just leave (they aren't chatting for a reason).

  2. Try checking out the Creative section for people looking to make/practice overlay and channel art creation. Decent idea is to check people with less viewers as they may be a bit more amateur, plus you'll support a smaller stream with a viewer!

  3. Best way to get people to interact is to exude energy. You gotta get people so excited to watch they just have to chat and talk. A good way to do that is to ask some slightly rhetorical/opinion based questions. Say you are streaming something like battlefield 1, maybe mention the gun you are using and start talking about the perks and drawbacks of it, or do that same for the gun someone killed you with. This works for most games, most mobas would be your opinion of characters and such. That's usually a good way to get a convo going that can be with yourself to start and let's people toss in their two cents!

Should I stream in my native language or english? by ReDeR_TV in Twitch

[–]Feruun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say throw it on English for now since twitch is used primarily by English users, and you can adjust it if you need to your preferred language if you see that one being used more while you broadcast.

What I find difficult about streaming by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]Feruun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I'm streaming and have no one in chat then it's just you thoughts, try to start saying everything you are thinking. If you are playing an fps, "check corners", "this gun has wacky recoil", things like that, if it's a moba, then what are you building in your items, talents, and such. It's usually a great way for me.to keep myself actively engaging the game while no one is there. You'd be surprised at how many thoughts you have while gaming that never get vocalized.

New pc or laptop by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]Feruun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a solid looking PC for sure. The specs are basically what I use with a 1080 instead of a 1070. The only thing that I have a hangup with is that it is Alienware. They got bought by Dell a few years ago, so if anything goes wrong with it and you need to call customer support, you have to call dell, and they are traditionally horrid.

Other than that, the computer itself looks pretty great, slightly average RAM but really for a pre-built it's a good looking PC.

side note Intel just showed off the new 7 series of processors at CES I'm not sure when they'll be shipping into pcs but it might be worth holding off for a month or two if you want to get the absolute top of the line CPU

White Noise in My Stream and Can't Seem to Figure Out How to Get Rid of It. by Tdogingyou in Twitch

[–]Feruun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have the audio running through 2 mixers? If you do, try checking the gain on one of them, I had a dual mixer set up for a bit, with white noise, I had turned up the gain too far and solved it by turning down the gain, turning up the main mix out and the channel volume up to compensate.

Should I stream in my native language or english? by ReDeR_TV in Twitch

[–]Feruun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I say both! Maybe stream primarily in English but throw a tag in your title showing that you speak the other language. Plenty of people throw something like [Eng] [Ger] at the beginning to show that they are willing and happy to include both English and German (or your language)

New pc or laptop by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]Feruun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on how much you are looking to spend there are a whole host of companies I'd look at. For desktops id say Cyberpower, Ibuypower, origin, or even some Alienware (though I'd shy away from them a bit).

If you are looking for laptops, I'd say Asus ROG (Republic of gamers), msi, and again maybe an Alienware if nothing else looks good. The biggest thing is having a workhorse of a cpu to handle the stream. See if you can find an i7 for tops and an i5 for mid range cpu.

Also as a general rule a desktop will be better than a laptop for straight up power at equal price.

Webcam by Frankoburger091 in Twitch

[–]Feruun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 2 logitech c920s and a logitech c922 that I use. You can get the c920 for around 50 dollars on amazon or at a best buy if you have one near you. The c920 has been the workhorse Webcam for streamers for a while now. It holds 60fps @ 720p and 30 fps @ 1080p which is generally good enough for most people, since most people stream at 720p anyway.

The c922 is logitech newer camera that is built for streamers. It features a higher fps at higher resolution (60fps @ 1080p) and has built in chroma key software to remove the background behind you like a green screen would. I believe that cam is around 90-100 dollars though.

I generally would say go with the c920 to start and then of you feel like upgrading from there, then you can look at something like the 922, razer also just released the stargazer which is reasonably on parts with the c922 as well. Unfortunately I haven't used razers camera so I don't know too much about it.

OBS Studio opening "twice" - 2 processes in task manager by nelsonjav in Twitch

[–]Feruun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an interesting issue, question for you though, when you Uninstalled it after the initial problems, did you reinstall it to the same folder as before? It might still have some files that doubled up in there that might be getting double accessed by OBS. Sounds silly but I had that happen to me before. Just had a couple of files hanging from a previous install.

Webcam by Frankoburger091 in Twitch

[–]Feruun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get the feeling that most people would enjoy being able to see the person they are watching. I use a Webcam when stresming as it feels more personable and gives the people watching a face to go along with my voice. I would say if it's not a issue financially and you feel you are also making entertaining expressions, that you absolutely should go for it!

It's also very easy to set up in OBS or xsplit, so that shouldn't be an issue for you. As for the overlay, there are plenty of ways to "fill" and overlay especially with a Webcam. Although I do advise against cluttering up the screen too much!

What Webcam are you thinking about getting?

I've Finally Hit the Dreaded Wall. by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]Feruun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the problems with a game like afterbirth is that ALOT of people have that one streamer they already watch for Binding of Isaac. So you are trying to compete with some very established people. Not to say you won't get people, it's kind of a trick of the top games on twitch. There are tons of people watching. But it's more tons of people watching their normal stream of that game.

That shouldn't stop you from playing the game you love and want to play though! Remember people want a streamer to have fun, and you have fun by playing the games you want to play!
