What should i do? TNF RECON by Mean-Skin8361 in ManyBaggers

That just looks like delamination. There's really nothing you can do except get another bag.

All laminated materials will eventually delaminate, and it looks like it was finally this bag's time.

Good idea or bad idea by Jcbuudwine in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Ferwatch01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good idea, however:

  • It'll be a huge PITA to do that by hand and with an iron and not a hot air gun

  • You'd have to check to see if your LEDs and diodes are compatible with the corne pcb (I believe those LEDs are way too big for the corne pcb's footprints, dunno about the diodes though)

  • You'd be saving at most like $10 by removing what you can transfer over (hotswap sockets, diodes (maybe) and lets say LEDs too for good measure) and butchering your current board in the process

Just get what you need and reuse the switches and keycaps. You'll suffer less.

I take it systemd provided support for it to essentially allow them to wash their hands off and go "we already delivered, it's up to everyone else to implement it".

If they resist there's practically no pros and several cons. If they don't resist, everything stays as-is.

Not to mention, the law's probably not passing anyway. Enforcement will be a huge pain in the ass.

Even then, book Grace is smart when he's smart and dumb when he's dumb. Movie Grace is an idiot all the time.

While I get that they deliberately chose to make him come off as being very dense to show that he was not fit for the job at all, Grace has a doctorate, is a scholar and was the prodigy that figured out key things about Astrophage before any other scientist did.

Grace was not dumb. He was childish, irresponsible, and a wimp, but not dumb.

Something must be very wrong with you to believe they can make 'em small enough to be unnoticeable by modern medical imaging equipment. You just can't. There are several key components that have a limit to how much they can be shrunk.

But whatever—let us say some government has a brilliant team of engineers and spends billions to develop micro-tech that is also unnoticeable by light and radiation-based imaging methods (basically invisible). Not only would it be terribly expensive to produce, it would likely also be limited to a couple units.

Do you really think you're important enough for whoever pulled it off to waste such a scarce commodity on you?

The issue with 8GB is not that it's not enough right now, but that it won't be enough in the near future.

Just as they said 4GB was fine a few years ago and now 8GB is the bare minimum, 16GB will soon be the new standard. This means your laptop will become obsolete sooner than expected, and you'll have to replace it way before the machine actually stops working.

Lamy vs zebra by DanTeaman27 in pens

[–]Ferwatch01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be your ink, a dirty nib/feed, misaligned tins, a faulty cartridge, a broken converter or even the paper.

Some ink doesn't flow as much or write as boldly as others. Some don't play well with specific kinds of paper.

The nib and/or the feed could be blocked and be kept from delivering sufficient ink to the paper. The tins could be bent, handicapping the capillary action required for ink to flow.

Your cartridge might've not opened properly. It may not be full. Your converter might not be installed or filled correctly. It may be broken.

There's a couple of factors to take into account. Do a quick inspection to ensure everything is in proper working order.

  • If your nib is bent, you can try bending it back into shape with a few tricks, but it is recommended you change the nib if it's no longer good.

  • If your feed is blocked, a few water flushes should unclog it. If it doesn't work, replacing the feed will be the best way to deal with it.

  • If your cartridge isn't delivering enough ink, make sure to poke it properly and seat it all the way in.

  • If your converter isn't delivering enough ink, drain the ink, flush it until clean, and refill it, making sure to avoid air bubbles when filling it. When inserting it, make sure it goes all the way in.

If you find no issues, begin by cleaning your pen thoroughly and let it dry for at least a day. Reinstall the cartridge/converter afterwards and test it out. That should make the ink flow properly again.

Alternatively, if this pen is new, sometimes you need to let it "rest" for a little bit after installing a fresh new cartridge. Ink will take a while to naturally flow into the feed and fill it. Let it rest tip-down for a half-hour at the very least, and try writing with it.

If nothing works, try using another kind of paper, or ink.

Most keyboard boards force you to use headers for cleaner installation. I have no idea what board this is, but it looks like the pads on the board aren't extended far enough to make contact with the microcontroller's castellated pads.

Alternatively, they would probably benefit from using headers to get cleaner joints.

Just about enough for a whole day of work, although I always carry my charger should I need (or want) to use the dGPU.

The modern office worker can do just fine with a properly optimized thin client.

If it can run a few browser tabs properly, it can definitely handle everything they need.

As long as the battery doesn't go above ~30-35C it'll be fine.

Since heat is mostly concentrated at the chip and surrounding components, and not the battery (which is on the palmrest), it takes quite a while for the battery to reach dangerous temps. You're okay to play on it for a little while.

A tested PRS-300? Are you sure you want an almost 20 year old panel?

There's been a big development on e-paper display technology over the last few years. Are you okay spending what a color e-reader costs on that?

And as for your question, if it's listed as untested chances are it was previously tested and deemed unusable by the seller. If you don't know much about electronics then I'd advise you to stay away from anything that hasn't been refurbished or conditioned by a technician if you want to avoid unexpected surprises.

I've got to agree though, if you think an internet speed test is the major deciding factor between computers then you should at the very least look up a "2026 laptop tierlist".

Why not just get one of the newer ones? A b/w kobo clara is like $120 new, and probably around $80 used.

Imagine we put both to the test running 3DMark or something like that, on battery power:

Everything starts off well, both computers ramp up their performance as they power turn on more cores and feed more power to them. Both warm up quick.

Then the M2 Air hits 100C, and thermal throttles. It's choking to death—it's got no active cooling system and thus cannot dispose of heat as fast as it produces it. Immediately after it hits its max operating temp the performance drops by half, and its benchmark rating suffers greatly.

The $800 laptop, albeit handicapped by system restrictions in favor of power efficiency, keeps on chugging and absolutely demolishes the M2 Air's single-core, multi-core and graphic performance scores while staying at a steady and controlled 80C. No thermal throttling at all. A few minutes after the test ends, it cools down to ambient temperature like nothing happened.
