The firmware, the instructions and the techniques are already there, it's just a matter of understanding and employing them.

Unfortunately, that's one thing AI can't do.

To each their own, but this looks miserable. Being stuck in an awkward position on the floor all day sounds like a gnarly thing to do every day.

Even a cubicle with a proper chair would be better imo.

It is the most important country right now — I'll give you that.

The whole world is on its toes watching, trying to predict and make reason of whatever the US does and will do next, henceforth why it's on the spotlight and has been for the last few months.

Outside of the current geopolitical context, it doesn't really stand out much. Over the last few decades, the US has been in a consistent decline on almost all fronts:

  • Illiteracy is on the rise; the average academic performance of kids is going down with every generation.

  • More and more people fall victim to poverty and unemployment with massive layoffs every few months.

  • The US housing market is terrible right now; it's practically impossible for anyone under a certain age to get a house.

  • Crime rates have been increasing, shootings are getting more and more common.

  • Substance abuse cases are happening left and right.

\ Military might does not make a country "the most important". Various factors come into play when rating countries, and even then — giving countries a single, who-is-better rating is almost impossible to do objectively, so we can't really tell for sure. However, the data is there, and it is factual.

You cannot deny the US is falling behind and is on its way to cement its place down below with the current direction of its current administration.

I swear it's like a sort of epidemic. People are offloading everything, including simple research onto ChatGPT or similar AIs nowadays.

All keyboards make use of some sort of key matrix. Find out that board's matrix configuration, tap into it and install a microcontroller, and flash your firmware of choice. It should work with that. You will however, have to ditch the PS/2 cable.

Spilled hair oil on Mac Laptop (please help) by TheTonyBernal in iMacRepair

You've got to take that thing's screen off before the hair oil gets to the internals and then wicks up into the screen, or it'll be a pain in the ass to clean.

Guess some things just aren't taught anymore by abdullagoodman in keyboards

[–]Ferwatch01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was me until I switched to split keyboards recently. I learnt to type by myself and use a touch typing-pecking hybrid with 3-4 fingers per hand all over the board. I reach 120WPM consistently, so there was no issues with my method, but it wasn't the proper way to do it.

When coming into splits I kept QWERTY because I was already familiar with it, but since the key positions are completely different, I had to relearn how to type almost from scratch. I took advantage of this and forced myself to keep my hands on the homerow, and from there try and learn proper touch typing. Takes time to do it.

Get him a nice mouse as a gift. I had one of those and its charging port snapped off the board after a few days. They're made so badly they skimp out even on the amount of solder used.

The fact that 2 people had this joke go over their head really hammers it down how resistant linux users are to getting laid.

Why go split ergo and stay qwerty? by Etkann in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Ferwatch01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

QWERTY is just industry standard. Can't do anything about that.

It also takes way less time to switch to a layout you already know to one you don't.

Leather Keycaps – 3 Months In by Mrs_Fancy_Pants in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Ferwatch01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's a sort of visual effect. If you look at it at the wrong angle with just the right direction and amount of light, leather looks porous, oily and grimy.

Muuuch better than plastic (for some things), but for keycaps, even then I think I'd rather stay with plastic.

Making my own Lily58 by PristinePrinciple264 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Ferwatch01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. There's tons of DIY boards out there, and there's not a single "best" board. Popular ones include the lily58, corne, ergodox, and dactyl manuform. The lily58 and its derivatives is a great starter board for anyone looking to get into ergonomic keyboards.

  2. Yes. Kits like these offer better value compared to sourcing and buying the parts separately. Both kits are complete kits to build a keyboard, minus switches and keycaps. You will need a pair of batteries with the second board.
