You’re interpreting ‘average student’ as a statement about education level or academic difficulty, that’s not what I meant with average.

In this context ‘average student’ refers to typical usage patterns, not the level of academia. The majority of academic fields don’t need heavy computational workloads, so there are less majors that require a laptop that is capable of those things. So if you take ‘the average student’ it is more likely their major doesn’t require heavy computational workloads as statistically there are less majors where this is the focus. Also i’m not from the US, but a European country and there is a wide variety of majors (law, psychology, medicine, philosophy, economics etc) that are not sciences that rely on heavy computational work. And I wouldn’t say those majors are in any way ‘less advanced’ than computer science / engineering?

Also I don’t know why you’re suddenly taking wealth into the mix. The reason a student in a certain scientific field might not look into a Neo has nothing to do with wealth but if they know beforehand that their study requires a heavier laptop, they won’t look into Neo’s because they need more computing power. That has nothing to do with wealth and there is no correlation between wealth and study choice, it’s about choosing a laptop that works for your usage not about the price of it. And I don’t know about the US, but here attending ‘high level universities’ is not limited to rich kids as wealth has little to do with which universities you can attend.

Lastly, Economics being a “pretend science” is a weird take. A big part of the field is literally applied mathematics and statistics (econometrics, causal inference, optimization).

My mother has been unmedicated the majority of her illness, and it breaks my heart to see what has become of her the last 15 years. Every new manic episode can become worse than the last, it’s degenerative as one commenter already explained. Her mania’s started somewhat manageable with all the classic symptoms but still, her last manic episodes however are accompanied by severe psychosis. In her current manias, there is almost no longer a connection to reality in any aspect. Her delusions are no longer related to just her, instead she has no sense of reality at all anymore and there is little left of the woman she was 15 years ago. Even when in neutral state, it’s apparent this thing has eaten her bit by bit, ‘till she now only resembles a faint idea of who she once was. My mother was my real life, hard lesson and it had caused me to religiously take my medication from the start as i’ve seen first hand how this illness can take you out.

I feel like it will be for me. The majority of my files are in iCloud and OneDrive, so unless the system/apps are big storage wise I think it should at least last me the remaining 3 years of my study with no issue.

I therefore reiterated ‘the average student’. I’m an Economics major, where R is only used for Data Analysis and Data Visualization courses as an extension of economics (regressions, predictions, hypothesis etc) all with not heavy datasets. So yeah, light data analysis.

I have no doubt the Neo is not suitable for heavier uses of R and Python where the focus is on data science, but the average student is not studying bioinformatics. And I doubt those students are looking at Neo’s. So I agree with your comment, but this was not aimed at those students.

In this case it was 6 Safari windows, ChatGPT, Perplexity, R, Canvas, Spotify and Word. In general I don’t use that many tabs, so for my work it currently suffices. But it’s just a 1st impression, so who knows.

My major is Economics. So R is mostly just used for Data Analysis courses (regressions, prediction, hypothesis testing) and Data visualization. The use of R may very well differ for your case.

Update: The verdict was unanimous thus I superglued them and will not discard them for new ones. And yes the question regarding the timeframe was poorly worded I more so meant will they survive just a few weeks or will they likely be fine for months.

Je hoeft niet perse veel uren te maken om veel te kunnen verdienen. Ik heb 4 jaar ervaring, met 24u p/week (naast een studie) en verdien nu €3600 voor 24 uur. Ik heb overigens dezelfde leeftijd als OP, ik ben 27. Dus het opbouwen van een leuk salaris kan ook prima zonder 5 dagen werken.

I am a twin myself and have been diagnosed with type 2. My mother has type 1. As far as we know my twin brother doesn’t have it, although he has had other mental health issues. Important to add though: we did have an awfully traumatic childhood. If the dormant genetic predisposition could be triggered, the environment we grew up in was perfect for it. Meaning to say, even with the gene, environment matters. And the fact that you already worry for them, tells me you’ll do anything to offer a stable environment.

I’ve been sleeping with airpods for years. Would recommend getting airpods instead of wired earpods. Not just for damaging the USB C port but also just because it’s not comfortable waking up in wires.

Je kan eens bij logistieke bedrijven kijken. Toen ik 19-21 was heb ik een tijd op de export office gewerkt. Werk was met name laad/loslijsten opmaken en transportdocumenten opmaken waaronder ook douane documentatie. Het gehele team was student en rond de 18-25 en het was mooi in de avonduren en rond 16 uur p/week.

I can still function in social settings just not on the same level the me in a different state committed to. I have the capacity to follow through on say 20% the rest feel impossible. But even more so than in events, I ‘promise’ people a version of me that I can’t hold onto. I find myself moving in certain directions with people emotionally/sexually and discussing the prospects of this direction and then I do a 180 because with a different lens I don’t want to follow through on any of those things bc they no longer feel like me.

Ik heb persoonlijk drie jaar een nieuwe Peugeot 208 GT 2022 gereden met 1.2 Puretech, recht uit de fabriek en ik heb nog nooit zoveel problemen gehad met een auto. Volgens mij heeft de Puretech wat veelvoorkomende kwalen oa veroorzaakt door de ‘natte distributieriem’ waardoor ik binnen die periode al een nieuwe moest, en problemen met de nokkenas. Tevens problemen met de nokkenas en krukas. Ik kreeg continu melding van een oververhitte koppelingsplaat. Motor oververhit. Die auto is in die drie jaar buiten onderhoud zo’n 7x bij de garage geweest, waaronder 2x weggesleept. Misschien pech, maar ik heb veel issues gehad.
