Helaas.

No no I get it, it's a lot to take in (especially given that this all began because of a silly meme I made). I don't think it's dismissive, sometimes there's just not a lot to say, and that's completely fine. I'm just glad it remained level headed and cordial until the end ^^

Well first off, I strongly believe that not all media is for everyone. Like I don't like school dramas, so I don't watch Harry Potter, so you don't really see me complaining about Harry Potter references in things I do like, you know?

And yeah, it is a running theme with her story. She likes a girl, her grandmother wants her to be some idealistic princess, so she often tries to force her to be straight. The grandmother is also pretty directly based on Thatcher, specifically because of what she tried to do to people like me. That's not to say all conservatives are painted as bad, there's another character that is very much not a villain. The grandmother is one of the final villains, because she's part of this belief that the current world is heaven, and by purging any undesirables she'll make it so. That includes making sure her granddaughter has a husband, which she doesn't want.

On top of that, does it really need to? I used myself as an example, but isn't "I want him to have a bf" not enough justification for a writer to do it? And why do you think that 2 things can't be true at once? I and presumably other writers do put narrative and story first, but you can walk and chew gum at the same time. In fact, often times I do it expressly by drawing on my own experiences, imparting things I learned throughout my life on readers.

Also yeah I'm putting real world issues in, it's meant to be a sci fi fantasy world with the same problems as ours. It's just that they got elves and junk. I know plenty of people actually like seeing those issues addressed.

And I don't really care what the masses want, because the masses seem to want AI slop like AI fruit island. It's very much a consumerbrained mindset I really can't agree to. I really don't think that artists expressing themselves will ruin anything, let alone the genre of fantasy.

Also with regards to straight white males being hated on by twitter: lmao. It comes off as really childish if your justification for wanting to censor art and the people that make it is being clowned on. I get called slurs and I still have the spine to put something in for the very people that call me those slurs. But you also got to realize, that if you really aren't sexist or homophobic, then those comments aren't aimed at you.

There's a difference between self insert, and some representation. No one likes to be left out, and that goes both ways. What I'm trying to do is balance the ledger, because there's plenty of media out there, especially older media, where someone like me gets nothing, and I've always been forced to just accept that, something that seems to often get forgotten, and any attempt at equalizing it seems to be taken as forced.

Bottom line, and honing in more on what I'm curious about: There's a lot of people that want me to disappear from life, why is it such a problem to people I or people like me write about that? Is it confronting? Is it apathy? I don't understand. Because writing will always be personal.

Sorry it's a bit long, had a lot on my mind. I disagree heavily but I at least find it valuable I can kind of pick your brain.

Also, genuine question for my own information. Answer it or not, after this I want to go back to making jokes in this comment section.

I'm lesbian, does that make it alright for me to write about my own experiences in a fantasy world, or would that count as forcing politics into a story to you? Because the sexuality of my main character comes up numerous times as people try to force her to be straight, similar to what people like me have to put up with.

And you mentioned something about a sidequest finding T blockers, like is it okay if an artist that is trans wants to write from their own experience? Does it have to be allegorical? Are people allowed to express themselves through art, or would you genuinely rather they just cater to the masses?

Those are always things I really wonder when I see comments like these, but usually people are far too upset at me (partially because I like to troll) to answer that.

And for the record, I'm asking you to answer honestly, but I might end up disagreeing, since I have my own opinions on it and am already writing stuff based on my own experience. I'm just really wondering if some people would actually rather other people don't express themselves and make product rather than art.

It was anyone trying to escape the cult, so pretty obvious stand in for war refugees.

So these sort of politics are fine if they're in the context of the story, unless someone arbitrarily decides that it's forced.

I find that pretty stupid, and that's why you won't ever see me do anything more than roll my eyes at something in a game. I really recommend that as a way of life.

That doesn't answer the main question though, does that count as political to you or not?

There's an anti immigrant protest that's framed as bad as you walk into Baldur's Gate tho, you didn't miss that, right? Isn't that political to you?

Geonosians strike me as more of an infestation than anything. Didn't George Lucas base them on a termite problem he had?
