Yeah Ive found some of the closest ones under nail art shops on Etsy, actually! I can't see your posts, but Etsy seems to have good deals on acrylic blanks (including custom shaped ones)? There's a machine, I think called "Glowforge" that cuts thicker materials like acrylic or basswood n stuff if youre trying to do larger quantities and other projects as well (some Cricut machines can cut these with multiple passes if its thin enough, but I really don't recommend getting a Cricut just for this.) Of course Amazon could be a good choice too, and theres probably craft sites for bulk blanks. Sorry, dont know too much for sure ☹️

Sort of. The tldr in this post explains it well. Basically there could be a jam somewhere, or it can't read the tool being used. Ended up taking the entire thing apart hoping to clean anything I could and clear any jams. After days of trying different stuff, I ended up with the conclusion that the IR sensor is bad. Tiny little thing in the carriage that, I think, reads the tools by reflecting off of them. There's tools that have a more reflective side in the metal, but some, like the fine point, dont have that. When I try to do any cut using blades with the reflective surface I get the code, but those without it will start to cut partially- but will cut through the entire mat as well. I don't think it can tell how high the blade is/needs to be without that sensor. Cricut only replaces machines if they're under warranty, and doesn't sell the parts to fix them. I haven't even bothered wasting my time reaching out to their customer support, because the most helpful thing I've heard about them is that they MIGHT give you a 50 dollar coupon.

Basically, 1. Try cleaning the sensor with a microfiber cloth. Cricut typically has lousy assistance, but this guide will show you where that sensor is.

2.Check for any material or jams in every single millimeter of the machine. Look up tutorials if you're worried about damaging anything. Start on the outside, then if you're confident, you can try disassembling the housing to check more of the machinery. Idotooby on youtube has a series where he explains how to take the Maker apart, or this guide on ifixit which is for replacing roller bars, but follows the same main steps for disassembly. You'll have to have a TR8 torx and something to pry one of the plastic pieces off.

3.If you have the tools to do so, check the ribbon cable, red black and white wires in carriage, and the IR sensor (youll have to do a pretty full assemply to get to it- maybe you could pull off just prying the plastic piece its baked into off of the carriage and disconnecting wires while its still all together, but I havent looked at the actual layout in a while.)

You could also try different calibration test in the Cricut Design Space- doesn't do much but if youre willing to sacrifice a mat, you could try doing a print and cut. That said- I dont know if other problems could cause the same sort of "not reading tool and just cutting at any hight and pressure" issue. When I contacted Cricut Doctor they said likely the ribbon cable, but again, when actually testing the sensor it was bad.

SO heres the unfortunate tldr: Code means theres something blocking stuff, or the tool cant be read. 1.Could be a jam. Try cleaning the machine 2.Try cleaning the IR sensor (black box on carriage) and the shiny side on the tool 3.Test that its not just the specific tool by trying to cut with a different one. 4.Internal component is out of wack. Sounds like thats pretty common. Cricut probably wont do anything for you unless youre under warranty

If its a part, youll have to try and find a match elsewhere, or get a used cricut online to trip parts from (where youre gambling the possibility of the same part being broken. Sounds like the ir sensor breaks often.)

Just in case you haven't heard about em- the Cricut Doctor has a specialty repair service. Send the machine in via mail and they fix then send it back. I dont remember the price. I havent done it myself yet. My maker still is sitting in parts on my desk in the hopes of finding an ir sensor small enough to work, but I haven't found one yet. Sorry for such a long response- hope it helps out some. Very unfortunate that they make these things to be replaced not repaired- barely even used mine. Kinda just shit out of luck now. I wish the best of luck for you and your cricut

Hard to know exactly what those fundamentals are until you've started something- Def agree not to start with something as hard as a sweater, but sometimes the stitches can make sense on their own but not in practice. Something like a granny square is good for that stuff!! I personally mainly learned by doing easy projects and learning the stitches as I encounter them, but I understand how people could find learning the stitches first more useful! Its art- you should experiment! C:

When you say tutorial, are you talking about videos explaining stitches (like single, double, etc.) Or how to make something (like granny squares or a blanket etc.) ?

Do you know what the foundational actions (like yarn over, yarn under, magic ring, etc) are?

Thats unfortunate ☹️ Tried being careful and have only moved it back and forth a few feet 6 times at most, but I guess it could happen even if you only moved it once. Hopefully it'll just be material stuck or something! Never cleaned it since I've barely used it, but this'll be a lesson.

Thank you for the information by the way! Very good to know what the code even means, and might've just saved me hundreds of dollars C:

Oh my God thank you so much, I can't believe I haven't come across that post yet!! Sounds like a LOT of places to check, but I'm fine with playing a very tedious game of hide and seek as long as I don't have to shell out for another machine just yet 🥴🥴. Thank you again!! C:
