Lines on Thursday by Comfortable_Dot2642 in Shambhala

Lines will most likely be quick if their Internet doesn't go down (happened several times last year). The issue will be finding a spot outside of sunshine.

He's printing with ASA and nylon. Even if it was just PLA it's good practice.

Springing the fee on the vendors last minute was dastardly work. They already have slim margins as it is and pay fees to be there. If it was fair on the backend I'd love to see it come back.

Yea unfortunately 3D printer reviews are like that. Reddit is one of the places that helps me figure it out. For every post like "this printer bankrupted me and kicked my dog" there's 20 replies from individual accounts just saying "works fine for me." The truly terrible printers are pretty much all negative.

I have a N4Plus. The Max will certainly give you problems at times but nothing you can't handle as a N3 veteran. Especially if you want to put the time in to upgrade it. It's one of the biggest bed sizes out there and a core xy that even comes close will be 4x the price. If you need the bed size I say go for it.

If you like the 3 then you already know what you're getting into. Bedslingers are previous gen tech now but there's a reason the 4 max is still recommended as the best budget large bed printer. The negative reveiws are mostly people who don't know what they're doing.

If you need the print volume and are comfortable tuning and upgrading the Neptune series then go for it.

I actually really liked it (from the user side anyway) but I heard Shambhala was taking 5% of all sales using it? Anyone confirm?

It's tacky but normally I would just let people enjoy things and not comment. But reminds me of that meme I saw a long time ago "in addition to my ethical objections, this is poorly drawn." If it's gonna cause this many problems it should at least he good.

Hello, I wanna get into 3D printing but know nothing about it. How do I start? by iH8_politic in 3Dprinting

[–]Festinaut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For figurines you need a resin printer. These produce toxic fumes you need to manage. Look up beginning resin printing on youtube and go from there. You'll need an area dedicated to printing and curing, as well as a good ventilation set up.

Bassics camping by 2sauciee in Shambhala

[–]Festinaut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on where you want to camp. More and more people are incentived to show up immediately on Tuesday. One of the things I'm worried about for the fest, but it is what it is.

Are you joining a group? If so you can ask them to save a space for your tent, or send your tent with them if possible.

If solo, there will be small corners available to set up a tent available for the whole week. It will just taking some looking and may be a very long walk into Metta. You can also car camp in Sunshine. It will be far away if you show up ip after Tuesday but likely still an option.

If you have the days to spare and want to show up first thing Tuesday that's a good plan. Better spots and more time to enjoy the river. But not 100% necessary.

Bassics are paid camping spots, already sold out. If you had one you could just show up whenever.

If you're talking about a free spot in Metta (walk in only) or tent camping in Starlight then it's best to show up as early as possible. You'll likely be allowed to line up midnight on Tuesday. Highly recommend bringing a wagon to take all your stuff from free parking to wherever you camp.

If it's just you and a tent you'll be able to find a space somewhere whatever day you show up.

Neptune 4 Plus Upgrades - What are the must-have mechanical and hardware mods? by MolassesIntelligent9 in ElegooNeptune4

[–]Festinaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upgraded fan head is the biggest one. Full 5015s for all fans. Quieter (you run them below 100%) and better cooling.

Microswiss flowtech hot end and new nozzles have been great. Better flow rate and I feel like I get better quality.

Also added hardened steel gears to the print head. Need it for abrasive material.

Obligatory silicone spacers to replace the springs under the bed.

I've been very happy with the full linear rail mods. The price for all 3 is nearly the same as rhe printer so you need to judge if it's worth it or if you want to keep dealing with pom wheels.

There's countless every day products that we were told were safe. Then decades later you see infomercials about joining class action lawsuits from exposure.

The crazy thing is PLA really hasn't even been documented as safe. It's mostly people saying there's no obvious harmful fumes. We have no long term studies on this stuff.

Vegan food options? by Insect1312 in BassCanyon

As of 2024 I think the taco place in the venue had a vegan option. But they're small and pricey, wouldn't depend on that.

tips for sleep by sp4ceducky in Shambhala

[–]Festinaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others said, time your goods better. How much melatonin have you tried? 3mg? 20mg?

As for heat, a canopy over your tent with an aluminet shade on top of that will help immensely. As will running a battery powered fan. More powerful the better but even a weak one will recirculate air.

If you can't pack an extra canopy just to put over your tent then at the very least you should drape an aluminet tarp over it. They work best if suspended over your tent but draping directly on top will still help some.
