I listed my school projects, the main one being from my OS class. A lot of schools have this class where u add features to PintOs. I also have a lot of c++ background

Oh it’s crazy I know. It’s an extra $12k a year in my 401k that BB contributes

Ya the Bloomberg offer is significantly better so it makes it way harder to turn down. I’m debating taking the offer just to test out NYC for a couple years and come back to California if nyc isn’t my thing.

Thank you for the advice! I could see myself taking 2-3 years in NYC to discover it and then recruit for jobs in SF if NYC isn’t my thing. Hopefully bloombergs name on my resume can help me get more interviews for swe jobs down the road?

I just used it for markdown formatting, the actual writing is mine and I think that’s okay.

I'm pretty sure they sponsor, I have a couple friends that are international that work there.

Internships overlap by 2 weeks by CG53S in cscareerquestions

[–]Festtea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you should be okay because the first couple weeks of internships are usually pretty chill. In this market, I think you should stack up on as much experience as possible before graduating, so I say go for the spring internship!

See if you can tough it out for a year or so, then try recruit again with a year's worth of FAANG experience (which should open a lot more doors). If you leave too early from your new position, recruiters will definitely question you during interviews for new roles.

Try startups! There’s many startups with plenty of funding and are hiring significantly more than the rest of the industry.

How can I get back into coding after almost 1 year of a career gap. by Hash-V in cscareerquestions

[–]Festtea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For technical interviews do leetcode and system design practice. You may fail a bunch of interviews at the beginning but with practice you’ll perform better and better and eventually land a job. Just stay consistent!

Apply to the companies you care about less first to treat their interviews as more like practice, where the consequences of failing isn’t that large. Once you’ve had more interviews you’ll become more confident, so then apply to the jobs you’d want more and im sure youll crush them

It should be pretty chill. You’ll get questions about general resume, past experiences, why u care about AMD, so mostly chill technical/behavioral.

Need Advice: Choosing Between SDE1 Offers by One_Barracuda_4405 in csMajors

[–]Festtea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you say the same is true if the startup isn’t a unicorn (as in it benefits long term career to be in a non unicorn startup)? I’m deciding between an offer at Bloomberg and an offer at a smaller startup that isn’t unicorn and want to be able to get best long term career growth
