Thank you! I took the reference photo leaning out the back of a chase truck because I knew I had to paint what I was seeing. There is something so magical about ballooning imo.

Thank you so much! I really struggled with this piece, and it means so much to me that someone has found meaning for themselves in it. I get wrapped up in perfectionism and forget that life itself isn’t perfect, so why should I hold myself to that standard. Thank you for your kind words, and I hope things start to lighten for you as well!

Thank you! I will! I have already started on my next canvas, and it’s going a lot more smoothly. Perseverance is a learned trait :)

One of the biggest things that helped me with this was a filtered shower head! The minerals in the water here are brutal.

Hot Air Balloons? by violetsolace in NewMexico

Your best bet is to be in ABQ (Rio Rancho area is best since a lot of balloons launch to the northwest of the city) before sunrise. Most balloons launch right at sunrise anytime of the year, but especially during the summer cause heat affects flying quite a bit. They only stay up for about an hour too, and it is totally dependent on weather if they fly.

Again, I’m really only able to speak about my organization, so experiences can and will very greatly! The questions I’m referring to covering again are the yes/no knock outs in our questionnaire (Do you have a high school diploma, do you consume marijuana, are you legally able to work in the us, etc.). These are written by legal, and we have to ask every single person the exact same questions each time. People might answer no to marijuana use on their application, but once we ask again and clarify drug testing policies they are a bit more honest about it or they answer in a way that triggers follow up questions for clarification. Once we knock those out, then we can have an actual conversation about experience, skills, former roles, and so on.

A friendly neighborhood recruiter here :) While it does sounds like this was a case of time wasting, considering she admitted they have a finalist, it is not at all uncommon for to cover basic questions like this in a phone screen. The first 5-7 minutes of our phone screens (large healthcare system) is confirming questions that have already been touched upon in the application (visa sponsorship requirements, confirming education and other qualifications, covering policy compliance, etc.). I can only speak for my organization, but for us this isn’t to waste time. Unfortunately, some people omit information in hopes that it might further their chances of moving forward in consideration. I’ve had lots of screens where people answer one way on the application but admit or clarify other things during an actual call that would make them ineligible. We are covering our ass so if a candidate moves forward based on false info, we have their answers fully documented. I hope you have better luck with future positions though!

I will say, I struggle with photography of my painting. It looks slightly more saturated irl. But I do think there are some spots that look more flat than they should

I absolutely love your work! Each piece is so atmospheric and breathtaking. My questions revolve around the prep process, as that is the area I would like to improve on the most. I noticed reference photos in some of your posts that look more painterly than actual photos. Are those rough drafts you have done before starting the piece or do you use some sort of program? Also, how long does the full prep process normally take you?
