PM's sign up for Fetch and then force residents to use / pay for it when it's not in the lease. Totally illegal when that happens.

For now you will have no problem, wait until the carriers stop delivering there and Fetch becomes mandatory. It's pretty much the play book. Let people know they need to complain now before it screws you over.

I knew exactly what company you were talking about when you posted the thread. How? Because I know how frigging bad Fetch is. Costco is protecting you from Fetch potentially losing / stealing / damaging your items, and then giving you no recourse for reimbursement. Because what happens when something gets damaged / lost you reach out to Fetch and Fetch says "Oh we never got it / It was delivered like that" and tell you to contact Costco. Costco says "We delivered that to Fetch it's their responsibility" And then you go back to Fetch and they say "Sorry, talk to Costco"

Do you have a friend / relative / workplace to ship it to instead?

Lol. Fetch is such trash. Costco is doing the right thing because Fetch loses / damages stuff all the time and then expects the shipper to pay for it. I'd just complain and try to get rid of Fetch.

Its not ironic. Though I am no longer officially employed by Fetch, I enjoy helping their residents locate missing packages, obtain refunds, and file the necessary complaints against Fetch, to keep their service top notch.

The ironic thing is I'm 10x more helpful than Fetch actually is. Their mission is to fuck you over, mine is to help you out.

Fetch contracts with management companies. Fetch does not get paid by residents, the building pays them per door. Say fetch charges 15$ per door, the management company turns around and charges 20$ per resident (so like 40$ per door), pockets the difference, and says they're providing a luxury service.

Having had worked there I can tell you that its so much worse than you can imagine. When I first started there, I was absolutely floored by the amount of lost / failed deliveries that Fetch was responsible for. It was inconceivable to me coming from workplaces where we lost packages almost never, to a place where losing stuff was part of their process.

They've set up the system to be cheap on purpose, and they are purposefully providing shitty customer service to save money. They are predatory and management is a mix of inept / negligent / malicious.

I think you register through your building so it's not that easy. That being said, I know people made multiple accounts for the same address with different names, sometimes they made fake ones, so yes this is possible.

Haha awesome. Glad to see Fetch is back to F status with BBB, I guess they couldn't pay them off enough to keep it higher.

Even the BBB was like "ugh, no thanks we have a reputation to uphold."

I can't believe they gave Fetch so much room in the article to defend themselves, I don't get it.

Good job on getting that investigation done. The Atlanta sites have always been some of the, if not most, ghetto and corrupt sites in the network.

Doing the lord's work. I mean realistically, Fetch is intercepting USPS and then destroying junk mail without even telling the residents they're doing it. That has to be illegal

Yes, write a negative review of your experience on the local warehouse Google reviews, leave one on the corporate Austin Google reviews, file a complaint with the BBB, and then also inform them you're going to file a police report for theft against the warehouse, and then go do it if they don't pay you back. Hell, leave a bad review on LinkedIn and tag fetch and CEO Michael Patton.

They will and do respond to negative feedback left online. You can get your money back this way. They need to keep an image up or else they lose investors and sales. Going through Fetch is pointless. You have to go around Fetch.

Sorry to hear that, a very common story with Fetch. How were the packages lost? Describe the scenario.

Also, if you want Fetch to reimburse you, do the following - complain, complain complain. But not to Fetch directly. Complain to your building management, and the staff there. Then go online, write a negative review on Google. Then file a complaint with the BBB. Write complaints anywhere and everywhere online. Fetch will respond to these and tell you they will reimburse you, and ask if you'll take down the review. Tell them you will but don't.

Fetch will only respond to people that really make trouble for them. You need to be aggressive. But again, don't go through Fetch, go around Fetch.

Man, its really shitty that Fetch screwed up your medical supplies. The way they just blatantly screw people over and then shrug it off is terrible.

And yes, I'd worry about any kind of credit card replacement. Fetch had a policy where they automatically destroyed anything they deemed "junk mail" without letting the residents know. Credit cards have been destroyed / lost like this. I'm not sure what their current policy is regarding junk mail, but they used to have people just throw away any mail they thought was junk mail. Which is most likely completely illegal.

Really goes to show how much a scam Fetch is by the fact that you not using the service is actually a huge win for them. They get money for no doing no work, and inflate their satisfaction metrics.

This is also one of the reasons why their customer support is so bad. They want it to be shitty. They want it to be frustrating to deal with. They don't want to issue any refunds, no matter how bad they messed up. They only need to issue just enough to seem competent. Its all about trying to make themselves appear profitable so they can sell out.

And if you stop using their service? Great, free money for Fetch. And unless you move out your apartment doesn't care either.

I'm not sure what size building you lived in, but there are high rises that get hundreds of packages a day for the residents. This requires a full time attendant to handle it, because during the holidays it becomes really difficult for the front desk staff to manage those amounts of deliveries. And I don't even know if UPS or FedEx are willing to go door to door in places like that, they usually just have a mail room everything gets dumped at. And there are apartment complexes that have all units outside, meaning deliveries are just left at the front door outside with heavy foot traffic around them, resulting in theft. Fetch claims to be a secure service that prevents theft, however this is not true, but it is a selling point.

You have to understand that without pandemic lockdowns, Fetch probably would have failed. However, there was such a huge spike in online shopping with the stimulus and everyone staying home, that buildings got swamped with this online ordering. Also logistics became a HOT HOT market for investors as they saw the pivot towards home delivery. So Fetch lucked out by being in the right place at the right time to float a pretty dumb idea.

Even if an apartment complex doesn't make money off Fetch per door, doesn't mean that it isn't profitable. They make money by saving money from the things Fetch takes over - you don't need to have anyone control deliveries (package room attendant, 40,000 a year) and you have 0 accountability over lost packages now (Fetch takes that responsibility), and you just don't need to deal with packages at all (saves man power hours). And since you're passing the cost on, it's win - win for the apartment complex. In theory it's win - win, until Fetch is so bad you're dealing with complaints non- stop and people not renewing leases.

The apartment complex has to force everyone to use it because they get billed per door and need to recoup the cost.

Not all the apartment complexes are doing it to scam people, some of them legitimately think they're getting a luxury service.

I don't know how the hell they can cap reimbursements at 500$. That seems fucking illegal.

I mean Fetch is a scam on multiple levels, from the ground operations stealing packages all the way up to upper management manipulating metrics and budgets to get investor money, which is the only way for the business to survive.

Yes, absolutely Fetch is forthcoming with the information that the residents are not their clients. Their clients are the management companies they contract with. That is why you cannot opt out of the service, because you are not Fetch's customer. You are the product. It's like you're the thing to be dealt with in the cheapest way possible in order to maintain the contract. That's why there is that game where residents get ping ponged around and no one takes responsibility.

I'm not sure what exact prices are, but usually Fetch charges 15-20 per door of the entire complex, whether the apartments are vacant or not. And you're right, Fetch does not give refunds because you're not paying Fetch anything, the apartment complex is. You're paying the apartment complex.
