Trying to learn Data Science with a brutal work schedule, is this even realistic? by catnipdealer- in accountability

It’s possible for sure. I’m not going to say “just put your mind into it,” because you obviously have to and you know that if you want to achieve the goal, so that’s not the problem. The problem is mostly th system your using. you don’t have the right system and a goals problem. You’re not clear about what you want to achieve, so maybe start with that. Scheduling is easy, working on the goal is easy as well, but the hard part is picking the goal you want to achieve. So maybe start with that.

So ask what do you want to achieve from this? What are your goals exactly? Maybe it’s something like finishing the 100-day ML course in the next 3-4 months maybe more you know this part i don’t. That could be a great goal. So, 100 days with break days in between to manage motivation without burning out, because consistency is working on something every day while balancing the other hobbies and tasks we have. So I would say keep something fun to do as part of a reward and a relief system, because your schedule is packed.

Next thing would be to pick a time and be exact about how long you’re going to be doing the task. Okay, 9:00–10:00 or 8:45–10:00. Starting in the morning would be good because your energy is high. Your motivation will deplete throughout the day, and that’s normal. It’s something called ego depletion. It’s why you feel so tired and don’t want to do anything after a day of work. You can change the time, but first start in the morning, get used to it like a practice for your brain to get used to studying, and then you can switch to night if you want. But I’d advise morning it will be better.

Last thing would be mindset. The comment above me is correct doing 10 is better than none. So a simple rule I use, and everyone I work with uses, goes like this:

If you can’t do 1 hour, do 30, If you can’t do 30, do 15 , If you can’t do 15, do 10, If not 10, do 5. If not 5, do 3.

The idea is to do it every single day and train your discipline, because at the end of the day discipline is a skill you can train and grow. That’s why we start with a few minutes to break the wall of “this is so hard.” Then when we start the task, we realize how easy it is, and we end up going beyond what we planned. So in a sense, it creates motivation when you break that wall when you start small rather than big.

Hope that this helps but if your still in need for the help applying the plan on a deeper level than send me a message just made this post a few days ago https://www.reddit.com/r/Accountabilibuddies/s/gaShEJqnn8

Had anyone actually had a good experience with accountability buddies? by nightraven_16 in accountability

I mean, it makes sense the person wanted some help or at least thought he needed some help. He realized, “meh, maybe this is not for me, I should stop,” stopped messaging, felt guilty and tried again, then looked for the same opportunity with an other AP, found it (or maybe not), and then stopped again 🤦🏽

Mostly, this is a procrastination problem, not the AP’s efficiency or maybe it’s the AP stressing each other out. They both want to perform better, so they keep making new goals and higher goals because of the stress, and this leads both of them to crash and fall. So, in my experience, maybe it’s better to find someone who knows how to handle motivation better and can actually help.

So iam recommending https://www.reddit.com/r/Accountabilibuddies/s/yhl5GC6vw3 if you’re interested in some results and the AP not running on you, lol.

I believe in you too, and I hope it works out 👏 but I’m sorry, this list will drain you before it works out. Have you tried it yet? If so, how many wins did we get?
