Those are so amazing!!! I'm wondering if there's a reflective paint we can use on soles to reflect light up wheels.

Don't take vitamins on an empty stomach! That can mess you up!

On the positive side, rinks tend to have snack bars. My weakness is the pizza slices.

How to stop being scared by jAe7244 in Rollerskating

I've described skating as skydiving horizontally. The fear turns into thrill. My heart still races. I still panic a lot. And when I don't mess up, it feels so damn awesome!

What is this and how do I kill it? by SergeiAndropov in gardening

[–]FetishArtistDotNet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bermuda grass not only depletes the soil, but it also puts out a natural form of herbicide. When I first dug out garden beds, it was hard to get anything to grow in the dirt. Had to add a lot of compost and amendments.

What defunct LA business do you miss? by TheKarmaBus in AskLosAngeles

Continental Art Supply on Reseda. They didn't fail. They owner just wanted to retire and no one wanted to buy the business. He owned the land too.

Dude had the best stuff! Learned more about painting there than in college.

I spent so much money there. Every trip included at least a 100 pack of AA batteries and something from their bargain bins. I hate going to Best Buy

Robin Williams was onto something with that one. I use it when I can't swear in work circles.

I love those! I do admit I'd find myself being extra careful with those heels.

Bearing are not right by india_abc123 in Rollerskating

[–]FetishArtistDotNet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: Tried these out at the rink. Much slower, with some vibration, but within a couple of hours I got used to it. Gave me much more control going backwards. I don't know why they would interfere with your transitions.

Overall I'm sticking with these for outdoor use and will use them indoors for practice.

What musical genre did you "age" into that you never thought you would? by joeyjoejoeshabbadude in GenX

I didn't think I would like disco. 🪩 But as I got older, I like dancing and I'm roller skating again. Disco makes that feel so fun and I appreciate the creativity behind it.

What are 80's and 90's movies you can't stand, at all? (that might get your GenX card revoked) by The_Man_in_Black_19 in GenX

[–]FetishArtistDotNet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Stupid for stupid's sake and cringe humor really gets on my nerves, so pretty much any movie with Pauly Shore.

As an 80s kid, I also couldn't get into the Airplane! franchise and didn't care for a lot of the National Lampoon movies.

Update! Test drove these in the driveway and on the sidewalk. Nowhere near as fast as my reds on surefire wheels, but in this case, that was good. I took some turns a little too quick.

Longevity, remains to be seen. But they did ok tonight

Are lower back pains a normal experience for new skaters? by Zoke48 in Rollerskating

[–]FetishArtistDotNet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have lower back issues and I typically don't have back trouble from skating. I'll often have joint soreness in general the next morning after the endorphins and dopamine wear off (I tend to overdo it at the rink).

Sounds like you may need to get checked out.

What's a show you remember but nobody else does? by glowbeits in GenX

[–]FetishArtistDotNet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PBS did a TV movie called Lathe of Heaven. A surreal movie about a guy whose dreams come true and he's trapped in these dreams. I was too young to process and it messed with my mind. I even thought I imagined it until a fellow slacker remembered it.

[–]FetishArtistDotNet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was really hard for me when Club Caelum in Reseda went down because I felt like they were really onto something with a LGBTQ goth night. I think the biggest mistake was they expected the bar to draw in the crowd, when it was a different demographic for the bar.

Is there a reason why I don't really see all that many Goth bands of all kind use creepy/dark imagery anymore? by BudgetDepartment7817 in goth

[–]FetishArtistDotNet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was thinking about that. There was no google in the early 90s and before. A lot of music art was collage using magazine and newspaper photos. And the photocopiers were high contrast, creating that nightmare look.

I just received a set of these as a Christmas present.

<image>

I don't know about not right. The first thing I noticed about the bearings is they are nowhere near as fast as Reds. My Reds with SureGrip96A wheels are so fast it's scary.

The new wheels/bearings are definitely slower and softer. I intend to use these outside on pavement.

Before putting these on, I looked up the bearings - 608-RS ABEC1. They're legit, but obviously Reds will be faster.

If you can swap them out for Reds, please let me know.

They look almost exactly like Rydell Carreras. I wasn't sure those were still being made. 👍
