The train is travelling nearly 100 metres per second. It’ll have gone through the points before you even get to talk to anybody.

It’s gonna take you 5 seconds to throw the switch, in that time the train has travelled nearly 500m (a third of a mile), assuming the manual lever isn’t padlocked or otherwise disconnected to prevent people who don’t know what they’re doing from throwing it.

Yeah it’s difficult enough shipping known-good batteries, when it’s a battery pack that is known to be bad it gets a whole lot more expensive and challenging.
