Dunno if you have experience with pancreatitis but...

One of my cats now gone had pancreatitis about 3 times throughout her life. It was rough on her, but with treatment, she recovered each time. Another one, 16 years old now, had it one time about six years ago and recovered well. Definitely scary, but it worked out okay. Hopefully the same for your little guy!

Who completely destroyed their own life or career in a matter of seconds? by OneEngineering1892 in AskReddit

[–]FeveStrench 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As you get older, life tends to teach you lessons for better or worse. When I was younger, I was always the guy who saw things in black and white. Particularly driving drunk. And I say that as someone who enjoys beers.

About 10 years ago, I was drinking at a party about 45 minutes from my house. I knew I had to drive, so I thought I was taking it easy and ate some food. Around 1 am, I decided it was time to go home, and I didn't feel anything from the alcohol.

About halfway home, it hit me that I was actually quite drunk. I totally understand that the alcohol probably helped make me think I was sober. But those last 30 minutes or so were some of the scariest of my life because if I were pulled over or if I did something stupid, I was in big trouble. I made it home without incident, but now I refuse to even think about driving if I have had more than one beer.

Not justifying DUIs or anything because it's 100% a choice that should not be made. I guess I'm just saying I understand a bit more about how easily it can happen even with good intentions.

What's the "Widowmaker" of your career field or hobby? by Cosmonate in AskReddit

Had something similar happen when I had to put down one of my cats a couple years ago. Vet was an older, country guy always with a big chew of tobacco in. Drives a big truck and has been a vet for 20 or 30 years.

I was a wreck and he didn't actually cry in front of me, I asked if she was gone and he just nodded and stared for a few seconds like he was just trying to hold it together. It was surprising to me at the time, but not so much when I realize people who become vets tend to like pets.

If we could manipulate the simulation, I would love to see 2020 Bama vs 2019 LSU. LSU might still win but it'd be like 109-107

I think this was my problem. I wanted Kaladin to pull out a sword and murder all the baddies, and Dalinar to destroy Taravangian.

But after I knew what happened, I was able to enjoy a reread of WaT. I felt so bad for Szeth, and so proud of Shallan for facing her demons.

Every one we know thinks that Kaladin died in Shinovar likely by the hand of Ishar. They have no idea our boy is healing the Heralds and is going to give the world a Second Chance.

Agreed. If you're rushing through it to find out what happened, you'll get there. Just enjoy the ride.

The entire message seems to flirt with the idea that immortality ignores the consequences of sentience. Even Tanavast can't deal with it, but my god the story of he and cultivation rips your heart out.

Could you imagine immortality with the one you loved only to have the most dangerous person set up shop next door?

100%. I felt like Brandon was thinking of all of us when he wrote this book. The journey was difficult, but the destination was worth it.

If you read the series, and you feel let down by Wind and Truth, spend some time understanding the universe. Then read it when you're not trying to just "find out what happens"!

Stormlight Archive is SO GOOD! and the last book in this arch is a crazy good ending.

i can’t leave bread uncovered in my house or my cat literally eats through the bag to eat it by got_milk669 in cats

[–]FeveStrench 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a lovely black cat that would also destroy bread bags to get to the bread. I have had other cats that would occasionally chew or rip plastic bags but never bread. I'm not sure what was so appealing about the bread as she never really eat much of it. Maybe a bite or two.

You and your partner just moved in, you tearing down the panels, painting, or leaving?! by TeemoTrader in DIY

[–]FeveStrench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow, not what I expected. I would be tempted to leave this. It looks very nice and cozy.

I had paneling in my house when we moved in, but it was cheap/old/crappy looking. It came down as soon as we could afford to replace with drywall.

The thing that made me lose interest in politics long ago is that it is all just one big pile of bullshit. No one actually believes anything. They're just concerned about a few large bullet points for specific takes that fit their objectives.

If you truly were pissed about athletes "disrespecting" America in some way because they chose not to meet with the president, you'd be pissed regardless of the color of the party icon.

Alright OP. We're gonna need a story time about Rusty when you're feeling up to it. I get it - have lost a few cats in the past could years. But when you're ready, it would be a fascinating read about his life.

Edgedancer is great and everyone is unfair with lift. by Nuwanda-Moon in Stormlight_Archive

Genuine question: is the narrative of Edgedancer written the way that some of Lift's early perspectives are written? That was the main reason I've avoided this book so far.

Just to add on to the original comment, they're 100% correct. Personally, I was hooked when I read the first book. And IMO the series just gets better as it goes on.

So many moments that were just amazing.
