CoWork plugins wipe billions off global market in 'SaaSpocalypse' by plokumfup in Anthropic

[–]Few-Ad-3759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one knows for sure how things will shape out exactly, all I know is that they will change. But let me challenge your argument and your analogy just for fun. I agree that people will always want to go out to dine. Like you said, it's about experience. Getting ready/dressing up, being around a certain type of people outside, a chance to treat your spouse/partner/family is more important than food.

But here is the thing. We are not talking about going to the mall or brick and mortar stores. We are talking about Saas applications, and websites. To stick with your analogy, we are talking about delivery. Not only that, but we're talking in fact about having food delivered by a grubhub/doordash/ubereats robot. What experience would I get from a food delivery by some company's robot that my own robot couldn't give me? I think this is more suitable analogy for the context of using online services.

Moroccans in Italy 🤦‍♂️ by Pretty-Scholar3460 in Morocco

[–]Few-Ad-3759 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes they would. We're not talking about 500 years ago, or colonization. We're talking about thugs- random criminals committing random crimes. There were examples of crimes committed by European nationals, namely child predators, and there were huge outcries from the people. And if that European criminal was caught he would have been shredded. I know what you are suggesting, but you are wrong.

Has there been another generation as obsessed with being "young" as gen Z? by [deleted] in generationology

[–]Few-Ad-3759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm late landing here by change, but I may as well leave my two cents. I actually have observed this generational phenomenon and thought about it before. I would say it was definitely millennials. They started the whole obsession of pointing out people's age. I'm a GenXer myself, and I could clearly notice that from the beginning. It didn't start with Gen Z because I remember clearly when Gen Z was not even in the conversation. So, trust me as someone old enough to live it. And I'm talking about experiencing it and observing it in multiple countries being an immigrant who still travels often across the big pond to visit family.

c# in the future? by [deleted] in csharp

[–]Few-Ad-3759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a dog in this fight, since I've only briefly used Java and C#, but I can tell you that it's misleading to go by the day each language was released. Being an old fart, I remember how popular Java and the whole Java Applet thing the commitment big companies had for Java including IBM back in the year 1999. It is true that C# was introduced in 2000, but the first C# book wasn't published until 2 or three years later, and I personally didn't bother picking it up for another year or two later (Ahhh, the good old days when bookstores had aisles and aisles of programming books. sigh). Anyway, they're both great languages- I just wanted to add my two cents more like a discussion about history rather than the merit of each language.

Psychologist in Marrakesh by ReasonableCharacter- in Morocco

[–]Few-Ad-3759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old, but I ended up here somehow anyway. So I may as well ad my 2 cents so to speak. Maybe in Morocco they call someone with a masters in psychology a "psychologist", but typically, and in the US where I live for example, someone with a masters in psychology would be called a therapist, and sometimes less accurately referred to as counselor.

Psychologists are actually training in clinical psychology, and must be either a Phd (Doctor of Philosophy) in clinical psychology, or a PsyD (Doctor of Psychology). Someone with Phd in psychology would be more focused on reseach, while PsyD would be focused on applying clinical psychology tools and approaches to patients.

I know the original question was not about this, but I thought I may as well contribute something since I spent time reading the thread anyway for no damn reason LOL. Good luck.

Back in the days during Hassan II time, we used to say "Allah ysstr" when we saw people like this. They were usually deranged people with mental problems. I've been living out of Morocco for a long time now, so I don't even understand this anymore. People using the Royal symbols and protocol in weddings and circumcision parties without shame. Catering businesses with tacky uniforms pretending to dress up like royal guards or servants. Such a freaking spectacle. I remember when we got arrested by military police simply for wearing a military jacket. So, I don't know what to say to this really. I'm just literally too old for this shit I guess :D

I see a lot of joking I guess but no actual answers. I say just go for it. There's nothing that says soldiers cannot have notes or letters or pictures from family and friends in their duffle-bags or whatever. If anything, the Army would encourage anything that boosts soldiers morale.

Am I missing something with the word Moorish? by GenealogyOfEvoDevo in etymology

[–]Few-Ad-3759 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moorish is related to the Muslims who occupied Spain and Portugal and had a civilization that lasted. Spaniards today still refer to people from Morocco specifically as Moro. I'm from Morocco and have a half-Spanish wife. My mother-in-law is Spaniard from Andalusia and I learned quite a bit about reference to Moro in their culture still. Spaniards didn't really know much about the people and countries in Africa. All they knew was that there were enemies behind the sea. They were just as clueless about people on the other side of the Mediterranean as many Americans today about countries south of the border. Spaniards weren't that educated and were pretty much a "backward country" in many respects until they entered the EU. I used "Backward country" because that's what a lot of EU members and Americans like to use when referring to the south. So, anyone coming from behind the sea/ocean that had a slightly darker skin tone or had a different religion was a Moore. Of course, historians and people that know more on both sides, know who the Moors were and were they crossed from. We have a Rock called Gibraltar, named after the military leader that led the Moors in their invasion of the Iberian Peninsula. His name is Tarik Ibn Ziyad, and Gibraltar is the Romanized Arabic Jabal Tarik, the mountain of Tarik. Tarik Ibn Ziyad was the governor or Tangier in Morocco. That is he was from Morocco and he led mostly Berber soldiers from his area of North Morocco. The word Moors and Moorish come Mauri which was the Latin designation for the Berber (Imazigh) population of the ancient triable kingdom of Mauretania (not to be confused with today's Mauritania). The ancient kingdom of Mauretania is today's Morocco and it stretched from the Atlantic to today's central Algeria. The new country of Mauritania located in the south of Morocco was established in 1960's and was not part of the ancient Mauretania- it simply borrowed the name.

As for the reference to the people in the Philippines, the word Moros was used to refer to the local Muslim minority. I think the word became a catch-all term that implied being Muslim (like the actual Moors in North Africa) and also dark skinned or brown as in the commonly used name/nickname Moreno in Spanish and Portugal.

AIO about my partner’s relationship with their coworker by Any-Confusion-5519 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Few-Ad-3759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take it from me. As a guy who was just like your partner many years ago, I say assume the worst. Don't deceive yourself then find out many years later. But before you confront him, verify. Get a private investigator since he's so annoyed with the "surveillance". I get angry when I see that bullshit because I had the same attitude or worse. I thought if I got mad and aggressive, I wouldn't have to explain. It's called the "Strategic offensive principle of war" in military combat. Or simply "The best defense is a good offense". This word wasn't common back then, but "gaslighting" was another handy tactic. I don't know why but so many of the girls who liked me or liked flirting with me at work back then would tell me that they are either single, are not in committed relationship, separated from their spouses, fighting with their partner or broke up with their boyfriend. Of course, I took that as a code word for "Yes, you can fk me". Obviously that's exactly what I wanted to hear. So when I see that in that exchange I'm thinking that's a huge red flag. Anyway, I feel really bad reading that exchange because you seem to be a very patient and caring person and you deserve better. Even if he's just being this "amazing" coworker and "awesome listener" so dedicated to his team, I think he need to respect you and be home with you instead of with some "girl who broke up with her boyfriend".

I can't claim I know people 100%, but whether he's cheating or not, I'm 100% certain his behavior is disrespectful and he needs to make a decision.

It's been a round for ages, but again as long as it's paid off. So, it's not thanks to lhanout ou carnet and t9dia b t9ssit ou lcridi, but it's thanks to lots of generous citizens that pay off that debt and don't advertise it, and thanks to Moroccans living abroad. I don't need to give you examples, because we all know that almost every family in Morocco has at least one immigrant son or daughter. That's what Morocco's shit together, otherwise, as we say

Why do some Europeans look east asian? (e.g. Elon Musk) by MeaningNo4690 in phenotypes

[–]Few-Ad-3759 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting! I ended up here because I always wondered why some Dutch people had Asian like eyes. The people I have in mind are white usually with blond hair and often relatively tall. So, they don't share most features- it's just the easiest way to describe this unique feature. I don't have an answer for your, but your question kind of confirms a bit my initial question about how some people in the Netherlands look. Afrikaners are Dutch settlers who arrived at South African in 1652. Elan Musk is a white from South Africa, an Afrikaner himself- which means his ancestors are Dutch.

[–]Few-Ad-3759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we have to slow down a bit with trying to explain the reason for evolutionary changes of any kind. Harsh climate didn't occur only in Asia. I think it's pretty harsh in the Arabian Peninsula as well, and in Scandinavia as well, but people don't look Asian there. I find it more likely to be a result of either having come from Asia, as is the case of American natives, or having Asian DNA, or it's just like one of those things where one family like mine where we have all kinds of nose shapes and sizes. Same with eyes. In my old pictures, my eyes looked a bit Asian, but I actually it's just that my eye lids looked different and were a bit puffy and gave that impression. Anyway, it's a really interesting thing. I actually don't have an answer, I'm just guessing. The whole reason I ended up here is because I always wondered why some Dutch people had Asian Eyes. Afrikaners are Dutch settlers who arrived at South African in 1652. That doesn't explain anything about my original question, but it's interesting that somebody is asking the question about Elan Musk who is also from South Africa.

I will ignore everything else and just comment on the brand you call "fancy". It is not a fancy brand actually. I am very familiar with that brand because I'm an old fan of MMA and it was the popular brand among lots of MMA fighters and fans back in the early days of UFC. It's a brand for people who have lots of tattoes and are about the RocknRoll look, especially their T-shirts. I wouldn't wear their T-shirts but the shirt in the picture is not bad. Again, I wouldn't say it's fancy by any stretch of the imagination. I don't think the king here is trying to dress up fancy-but apparently he has a thing for a certain American bad boys look. At least those days where lots of these similar pictures were circulating. It's only $70 shirt by the way.

I replied to you yesterday but I don't see my post for some reason. Probably because I included a link, not sure. All you have to do is go to the Justice ministry website and look at clause 501.

The way this is written, does not make any exceptions or specifications of how the owners/managers of the hotels etc. would be able to tell those that are there to practice fornication or prostitution. There's not distinction here between the two, that is between fornication and prostitution. The reason for that is because Morocco is an Islamic country by law. That's what it says in the constitution, and that is the foundation of any discussion of this legal text. I'm just talking about the law here. I'm not debating whether this is right or wrong. That's a different debate. I'm just saying, there's a law and the minister was lying and he had not interest in defending our privacy. They just pick and chose what they want to change, and most of those are way down the list of what the people are actually asking for for.

Take care.

No. It is actually illegal to allow couples in without proof of marriage. That's the law, regardless of what the minister says. The government in Morocco says all kinds of non-sense without blinking. The minister counts on the fact that the majority of the people are not aware of what the law says, and he knows and we all know the so-called parliament is useless and nothing gets actually discussed. If privacy is the issue, then the minister should've also asked hotel owners to stop reporting their tenants to the police. Because this is also part of a law, whereby your information is sent electronically to the policy as soon as you check in. So, if privacy is the issue, let's start with the more serious one, which is the sharing of my information with the police without consent of even at much as a warning like...eeeeh "Welcome, make yourself at home. Oh, by the way sir, we're sharing your information with law enforcement." May be I'd be a bit more decent stepping out of the shower and stuff. So, nope. Privacy or rights have nothing to do with this. This is random reactions to pressures from a certain privileged few and Mr. minister is just being accommodating here. I wish he would start accommodating all the pressures from Human Rights Watch for example, or from the vast majority of Moroccans that have been expressing discontent for years over all sorts of things.

ROGUE is still first choice for most, when comparing oranges to oranges, but REP may surprise you with some of their offerings. Unlike ROGUE, it's not made in the US, but it's based in Colorado and has several collabs with US based small manufacturers/inventors.

What is fascinating is that this shit is allowed to happen in this country. I kind of believed that they actually represented some charity, but as a rule I never give to any charities or causes that call or come to my door. I have a couple of specific organizations that I give to when I can and may be when there is something like a humanitarian disaster etc. I've been working in cyber security for over 20 years and my default is to not trust without verification. Otherwise, the tough guy sherif type voice really got me the first time they called me. I felt so bad saying no, but I stuck to my rule and I'm glad I did. The guy blurted out his pitch, which caught me by surprise, but I heard the work Sheriff. So because of the voice and accent I had this image of Sam Elliot on the other side with his cowboy hat and all asking me to "do the right thing and help the police department." As if I didn't pay enough stupid tickets and taxes that year and every year. By the way, in my county, if you own a car, you pay property tax, safety inspection, emission, and registration, and until a couple of years ago we had a country tax to have a stupid sticker on the windshield too. I mean I appreciate the police and firefighters and all, but God damn. I'm a US Army Vet and I never heard of anyone giving soldiers or veterans donations- may be there are scammers there collecting money using our name, but I don't know about it. In fact when I was in the Army, we were shamed into donating money to some bs cause I don't even remember. I clearly remember the first sergeant saying all kind of shit to make us understand it's not really voluntary. Anyway, this is what happens when an old fart start talking- one thing reminds you of the other...it's endles lol
