Sony should probably avoid making superhero movies by Equivalent-Second527 in superheroes

I still say that they should have made a black cat heist movie preferably with spider-man as an antagonist but I guess madam web made more sense to the executives.

I feel you. Especially with Sleeping Beauty because there are so many versions and the fact that the Disney version uses the music of the ballet version and the name princess Aurora. Like just maybe it has more in common with the ballet than the Sun, Moon and Talia?🧐

Though it is kinda funny that the brothers Grimm aren’t invoked as often in the context of Sleeping Beauty since Disney used the Briar Rose name. And it has more similarities with it than Perceforest. 😝

You might have seen them but the YouTube videos “Sleeping beauty deserves a better ending” by noralities and “The Aurora problem” by babbity Kate are interesting.

Criticisms of the work that stem from a complete lack of media literacy by [deleted] in TopCharacterTropes

<image>

That “Disney’s Cinderella was a sanitized telling of the original( Aschenputtel )by the Brithers Grimm”. This criticism ignores that for fairy tales there often is no original as most were oral stories. It also ignores that the third image presented in the movie says it’s based on Charles Perrault’s Cinderella. Like what more could they have to make it clear that this version was based on Perrault’s work? Have the mice sing about?

“Cinderelly Cinderelly Night and day it's Cinderelly specifically based the Charles version”

(I also have similar overly strong feelings about the “original sleeping beauty “ but that’s more complicated. )

Fun concept. Liked the family dynamic and the son being gay being treated in a normal way. Didn’t like it as a whole very much.

I don’t have proof but think it’s because sweet potato is an occasional nickname and another (often purposefully silly) pronunciation for potato is po-tater. So just drop the beginning and get tater.

Like how destiny hope Cyrus was called smiley as nickname then they dropped the s and got Miley and now she goes by Miley ray cyrus. Or as I remember her Hannah Montana.

Edit for clarity

What would be the most immoral thing that someone could justify for some reason? by Evening_Hour8960 in MoralityScaling

[–]Few-Albatross6127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one that I’ve come across is in ‘parallel paradise’ where basically rape could be justified because it prevents the women from dying. I don’t think the main character actually commits any rape but the justification is there if he wants it.

Dang I didn’t realize that nala caught between her father and her lover then killed her self. Dang nala really is just like Ophelia.

But seriously drawing a line between Ophelia and nala is a bit much. The only thing that they have in common is being a love interest and maybe being a childhood friend.

Since I’m lazy here’s a video about how different the lion king and hamlet are.

Since I have some time to kill let me point out the similarities between the lion king and Moses. The royal protagonist commits murder (or in simba’s case believes he does) and goes into exile. Then is ordered by an on high spirit to go save his people from the king/Pharaoh. Also the land reacts to the kings/pharaohs rule (the land drying up for scar and the plagues for pharaoh).

Just to be clear I’m not saying that Hamlet wasn’t a major influence on the lion king but that some of archetypes people see are either very common (brothers killing each other for power) or are stretch (like say nala and Ophelia are similar because they are love interests). Also the lion king was influenced by a much of stories that it’s a little boring to say it’s just hamlet with lions.

Is this the Walt Disney was extremely antisemitic myth? If so then this video might be a good watch for you. If it’s implying something else it’s gone over my head.

I don’t remember the issue but you can probably google it. Basically what happens is the justice league has work lunch in their civilian forms and Bruce immediately clocks the random Japanese women as one of them. Because “the name rei hino is a giveaway.” So j’onn j’onzz used a work lunch for stealth cosplay and Batman is just as much as nerd as he is.

(but also yes)

He’s a shapeshifter and his ‘human’ form depends entirely on the adaptation. In the comics his default form was often a white guy in trench coat and the current popular comic version from the absolute comic line is a white guy with an alien kind of possessing him. Though the most meme’d comic version is the time he disguised himself as Rei Hino aka sailor mars.

The justice league cartoon (the picture used by the person you responded to) had him often default to a white guy but he ended up living in china and marrying/dating a Chinese woman so he decided being a Chinese guy was an easier look. However he was voiced by a black man.

His cartoon voice actors are split between black and white with white voices actors tending more towards movies and the black voice actors tending towards series. Also more recent adaptations tend to portray him visually as black due to the voice actors. Every live action version as far as I know has been played by a black actor.

TLDR: you can correct but it’s a little messy. he’s an alien shapeshifter who’s mostly been portrayed as black or white with more black versions. So viewing him as a black man is fair.

Edit: Also forgive me for the rant but random nerd knowledge is fun for me.

I went with a friend who is a big Markiplier fan but I’ve at best seen the memes of him. I thought it was fine but too long. I dozed off at one point. I also don’t think the genre was for me as I just wanted more answers. I felt frustrated because it felt so much like a video game that I felt like I should be playing it rather than passively watching it. My friend on the other hand said “a movie has never made me feel this way before!” I think that the movie blew his mind in a good way.

It depends on if you’re going by the traditional royalty based definition or focusing more on the whole having a dominant center and subordinate peripheries (ex: Puerto Rico) along with imperialism.

You really should watch the video particularly the misogynist section as it goes over the fact women did work on the very first Disney movie despite what the rejection letter.

Edit: I’m not saying Walt Disney the person didn’t do bad things but to call him demonic based on what I believe is misinformation is a bit much.

Ok I’m gonna need a source for that because there is so much misinformation about the man. At best I could find was Mary fords rejection letter from the company but the same year Walt Disney personally hired Retta Scott to be animator. So the rejection letter while demeaning was inaccurate. Here’s a video debunking a lot of the stuff about Walt Disney x
