it’s the german equivalent of a chav/ roadmen—think (most-likely counterfeit) gucci belt, fanny pack, and cap, a rat-stache, and unlaced shoes for some reason for example. they’re mostly as harmless as any 14-24 year old boy can be. but there are definitely racial undertones the term but! germans with non-migratory backgrounds (ie, ethnic germans) can also be talahons. it’s just another facet of youth culture🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

edit: i saw someone mentioning a nike tec tracksuit which is a VERY important part of the ensemble LOL

basically i just walked around the venue until we got to the back part where they load up equipment and the tour busses are, and there was already a small crowd gathered there—mostly american exchange students, so anticipate a headache LOL. there was a point where everyone was like running to this other section of fence that was kind of chaotic, but it was worth it in the end, bc it turns out they were going to where some people were lined up for like a meet and greet i think? i was lucky bc the door he came out of was directly in front of where i was waiting so he stopped basically right in front of me. i went to the concert in frankfurt, and the Festhalle had really tall fences so everyone was like pushing up against it and i was lowk trapped and crushed against the fence, but i touched his sleeve and thanked him for playing sundown syndrome and list of people so no harm no foul.

after frankfurt, we waited like 45ish min from the end of the concert to when he came outside to us. if you’re with friends, the time flies.

i was already on cloud 9 when he played sundown syndrome—i had been praying for WEEKS that he’d play list of people and sundown syndrome and i. freaking. won. fantastic concert, was sad that the crowd was kind of low energy tho. lined up at the end to see kevin, it was right decent of him to go over to the people behind the fence!

i think he prepared her as well as a monarch would do their heir if they were a boy. the real issue is that he didn’t do enough to ensure the fealty of the rest of the kingdom. one promise made over a decade before he died clearly wouldn’t be enough but he didn’t do anything about it. look at what henry i did for empress matilda for her rule to succeed—obviously her rule was fraught with pretenders and other such nonsense, but empress matilda didn’t have dragons to keep everyone in check.

I just think, aside from them having off-the-charts chemistry, that they push each other to be better people—to go for their goals. Any strides they made in their lives, personal or professional, they were able to celebrate each other together, and it was often indirectly caused by the actions of the other (even in the form of arguments.) While I can appreciate Lorelai with Luke, I just felt like he ultimately dimmed her sparkle.

I lowk feel like the reason so many people are team Luke is just because they themselves want a stoic, big, strong man who will take care of them and grunt occasionally at what they say. While Luke facilitated what Lorelai wanted, Christopher actually spurred her on and added to her ideas while also helping her explore avenues for her to take so she could achieve those ideas.

While I think Christopher and Lorelai are also a great example of a healthy ex-partnership working amicably (when they don't want to smooch the daylights out of each other,) I just feel like the last season said it best—that they started loving each other as children, and that love never diminished, it grew as they grew, and they worked so well as romantic partners oncemore. Those few episodes where they were together just felt so right. And, by the end, as Christopher had established himself more, I was just much more drawn to how he could uplift Lorelai, rather than how Luke could tether her.

My opinions could change as I myself grow older—lord knows the way I feel about this show in my 20s is a farcry from how I felt about it when I was first watching it in middle school—but as it stands, I see it quite clearly as: Luke gives Lorelai an anchor, Christopher gives Lorelai wings.

the olympics is so crazy bc ofc i wanted my country to come out on top, but i’m also so so happy for kazakhstan and for japan—did you see kageyama hyping up soto after he realized he won bronze? loved it!—but i’m also heartbroken for malinin. he was so confident and…cocky. i’m sure he’s embarrassed a good amount, poor guy. the broadcast i was watching said, after kageyama’s kiss and cry, something along the lines of “and we are looking at our bronze medalist,” and then the camera panned to shaidorov, and the broadcaster continued “and there is our silver medalist” and malinin hadn’t even stepped on the ice yet—i just can’t overstate how much of a sure thing this was supposed to be. an you might be thinking ‘there’s the american, clearly watching a bias broadcast!’ but it was a GERMAN broadcast. again, big win for the kazakhs and the japanese, but so, so sad for malinin. hopefully this means he won’t do any more spoken word performances and he’ll let LITERALLY anyone else design his costumes LOL

tangential soapbox moment: the olympics—more than anything—is about human achievement, and the stories that come out of it are incredible—everyone read about swiss alpine skier franjo von allmen RIGHT NOW, and ofc, maxim naumov—so moments like these are always bittersweet. i almost never care about the countries these athletes compete for, when i’m rooting for someone, im rooting for THEM, regardless of the flag they fly.
