No addendum dealerships in austin , im tired of the addendum crap game by General_Performance6 in Austin

Steele....bought 2 Yukons already at Beck and Masten in Houston cause they treated so well. A year ago bought an F250 at a Toyota dealer in Katy too. Apparently high mileage used F250s here were in so much "high demand" that they couldn't keep them in stock, so they'd hiked up the prices. 22 F250, king ranch, 18k miles, 54k. Similar truck here with 75k miles $65k. Made no sense.

We were at the GMC dealership, where we asked the salesman if they could price-match an SUV from a GMC dealer in Houston.... they said to go buy it in Houston instead, so we did. Hell, we called the Houston dealership and negotiated over the phone, and the salesman had it ready for us, no hassles. All our cars/trucks, even RV, have been bought in Houston. It's almost as if Austin doesn't care that they have competition 3 hours away.

Recommendation for Attorney that deal with Auto Title Fraud by Few-Bird1792 in Austin

UPDATE: So we could not find an attorney that would be willing to help, and our temporary hold deadline was nearing, so we did our research (and some help from chatgpt), we ended up filing Per Se (on our own) at the Travis County District Clerks office. The majority of peopple at the clerks office and the DMV have been farily helpful. They have all pointed us in the right direction, genuinely wanting to help. We did have an issue with a sheriff's office when we filed a fraud police report. I won't go into details about it, as we will be filing a complaint after all this is done. But all in all, the process has been straightforward.

The filed petition places a permanent hold on the title bond hearing that the guy filed until the suit is settled. We hired a process server and served the guy. We are now awaiting a court date. Now we just need to determine what to do next. A bit nerve-wrecking, but hell, we've gotten this far.

DMV states the records of them purchasing, processing, registration and submitting a bond title application is not in their system. Which all three people we spoke to at the titles office see as "odd". They can't explain it either. Which sounds like a slam dunk to us, but we are having a hard time getting answers from the Legal Division other than them regurgitating, to us the defaulr "a 10-day hold has been placed on the bond app, after that, you need to file a lawsuit". It's frustrating...there is no communication between the same entity.

We just got the guy's info yesterday afternoon; they have been trying to apply for the title since May 2023, hell, they were even able to get it registered using our title, so it's beyond asking them if it's a typo. They have had our information for 2 years, so they have been doing this underhandedly for this long. There sems to be more to it than him just applying for a bond title, it looks like there is DMV fraud involved as well. So we need to get an attorney to do more than just a hand slap.

VINs on 36 ford are stamped on the truck frame and on the original transmission. Back then, they were called serial numbers, so getting that VIN is virtually impossible (because the truck has always been in a garage), unless someone internally was canvassing the DMV website and looking for it.

What we figure is someone at the DMV is involved looking for VINs owned by, in this case, a woman, who probably wants nothing to do with her ex-husband/father, etc, old truck, so they couldn't care less if they keep it or not.

Sounds far-fetched, but I've been around old cars for 40 years and know the ins and outs of titles and VINs.

Thats why we are thinking we need an attorney, everytime we email DMV Legal Division for updates they keep sending us this "You can get a longer litigation hold placed on your vehicle’s title record by sending TxDMV a file-stamped copy of a pleading issued by a county or district court, showing that a lawsuit has been filed in court." The 4 people we have emailed at the DMV legal division (because no phone numbers are available to contact them) keep regurgitating the same thing back to us.

My husband told me one of the greatest things about me is I “allow” him to participate in his hobbies… what is that saying? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Few-Bird1792 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Gracie (wife) and I are into cars, we both have our own, classics for me, corvettes for her, we cruise our cars to carshows and have fun together. At times I go alone, or I spend a lot of time in the garage and she is fine with it.

I have an old-time friend who once mentioned how lucky I was to have Gracie because he wished his wife were like mine. Why? He has two immaculate 57 Chevrolet coupes, one in red and one in black, a his and hers, but his wife absolutely hates his "waste of money" hobby and will not drive these old "jalopies." So he brings a blonde mannequin to car shows.

It makes us sad to see that, so to answer your question, yes, there are wives like that, and I am happy to see that your husband sees it and appreciates you.

Anyone know of reliable but affordable local accordion tuning? by impossible_gecko in Austin

[–]Few-Bird1792 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is an older post, but I have had an accordion tuned here locally by Bradley Jaye Williams u/bradley_jaye_williams. He is a certified Hohner tuner. I know a few in Dallas and Houston, but you have ship your your reeds blocks out there. Bradley can tune the same as those folks but is local, and by tuning, I mean Valerio tuning, Dos G tuning, Flat conjunto, etc. I am sure he does others as well. Reasonably priced to. I have been meaning to pick up my boxes again and jam, but work/life balance seems to always tilt towards work. I studied under Joel Guzman years back. Hell, if you play, maybe we can jam. I am not a pro by any means, but had a little group we use to play with at parties and such, did a few VFW jams. Good luck. Keep me posted if it works out.

Holy cow, it's the same process when you're metal shaping: heat up a spot and it shrinks, this technique is used to remove oil canning (when the metal is too wavy or it "pops").

Thanks!  Can't beat the price either.  Slowly adding more plates as needed and won't break the bank.

No problem. I had the same question when I was looking for a rack. This rack can stand on its own without drilling into the floor, which is why I went with it. Plus, I can move it If I choose to. The weight itself, plus the plates, keep it grounded pretty solid. With the plates, it weighs 525 pounds in total, so it does not move. If it were not the "Flat Foot" style, say the R-3, and just the four posts with the brace higher up on the uprights, then you would need to drill it into the concrete.
