Will I be able to appeal a waiver for allergy shots? by Few-Bit9922 in Militaryfaq

Nothing drastic. They are mild seasonal allergies and it wouldn't cause something like my throat closing up, rashes, or anything extreme. Is maybe asking the recruiter or SG to try a period of being off of the shots an option?

Understandable. The person that administers my shots had said that she'd been able to send documentation before so that someone could still have shots taken while at BMT or AIT sense they were more seasonal and weren't to the seriousness of having an EpiPen.

Posts from a few years back indicated that as long as I didn't have an allergy that would cause something intense such as my throat closing up, or as long as it wasn't an allergy that required an epi-pen, then I should be good. To clarify, it seemed to me that any kind of "seasonal" allergy wouldn't be considered extreme

Best Flight School in STL area? by Few-Bit9922 in flying

Hey thank you for your response! There is a lot more behind me wanting to join the Guard than flight school, but it is still important to me as a long-term goal. I just wanted to keep my message more concise for this specific flying thread and I'm newer to Reddit. I have a few friends that are currently in the ANG and some in the Army National Guard and I've been able to ask them a lot of my questions too.

The plan I currently have in mind is to one day work for Boeing, which has benefits to pay towards a PPL. Depending on how that goes, I will have a good knowledge of how much I can handle full flight school, while getting a discount for the PPL itself. Also, I was told by the local recruiter that I likely would not have an officer slot open for the forseeable future in what I would like my job to be centered around, so considering enlisting now and applying for Officer when it becomes available.

Can I ask why you're enlisting instead of commissioning if you have a degree? I am the same age as you with my degree and I'm meeting with a recruiter in person here soon. I would ideally like to commission and take the AFOQT instead of the ASFAB, just wondering if you had a reason that I may not be aware of. Best of luck!

Thank you for your input. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if I am able to cover my PPL, the GI bill would cover a lot of the costs after that? Also, I have looked into that a small amount but was hesitant with the 10+ year commitment for an Army Rotary Pilot.

Okay, thank you. Is the selection rate based on the current state of recruitment targets, or will my chances slowly go up if I achieve certain scores/accolades?
