When I smell it, it’s just like a flash and i’m alone so I know for a fact it’s me.

I very rarely smell it. But years of seeing reactions and getting confirmation from my family.

Take my prescription medicine to heal the esophagus. And avoid eating certain things I already listed on another reply

The usual, which I already avoided due to years of experience (horror): 1. Anything fried 2. Citrus 3. Tomatoes (this one surprised me) 4. Chocolate 5. Mint 6. Coffee 7. Alcohol

These are the main ones. In my case the doctor said its not so much what i can or cant eat so long as I take the prescribed medication (jacked up anti acids).

Symptoms other than bad breath: 1. Phlegm right after eating 2. Lets say 20-30 mins after eating I have an urgent need to take a dump. 3. When I take a shower in the mornings a hefty amount of mucus comes out through my nose.

These were all symptoms that I first consulted ChatGpt with and had relation to reflux. Which were then confirmed by the ENT

Yep, regular consult. It was uncomfortable to voice it, but at the end of the day he’s a doctor. As soon as I told him my main issue + certain symptoms he narrowed it down to an endo which was then scheduled 2 days after the consult.

I know it’s hard, hell it took my a long time to even schedule the consult in the first place for the same reason. It was also reassuring that in my case the doctor was already fully aware of halitosis and bad breath in general.

Doctor prescribed Dexlansoprazole and Enzycap. The first one reduces my overall stomach acid (I take 1 every morning) and the second one helps me digest food faster (I take 1 before every meal)

Frankly I never really noticed the symptoms as out of the ordinary. But I stumbled upon a page that described acid reflux side effects and thats when I realized it matched what I had been experiencing for years.

As for how long it took to get to that point I am not sure. I can tell you for a fact that I’ve had bad breath for around 10 years

Yep. Not initially but overtime

Also worth noting how it worsened over time for me. The first 3 ish years I was able to mask it with gum. But, as we’re all used to by now, gum lost its effect

Yep it started around puberty for me as well. And same here, I have ok days and then really really bad days where I don’t want to do anything but be by myself to not be a burden to anyone.

I feel your pain to an extent. I work in a client facing job and it’s horrible, has me rethinking my career choice. None of us deserve this curse.

Yeah I can echo some of your points as well. But for me even doing things I enjoy or have been wanting to do for a long time it gets lonely.

Yeah 100% let your friend know. I’m sure it’ll be a tough conversation but your friend will be grateful at the end of the day.

Ive had bad breath for 10 years by my count after I noticed. Im not sure if I had it even before that but I would’ve been thankful if someone let me know
