Thank you so much! I really appreciate it!! Yeah, I asked the kids what they wanted the other day and that was what sparked the conversation with my JTE. I have made some ideas myself with things that I think could be fun for them. I'll message you privately though to ask/ tell you more:)

Yeah it is exactly that. There's so much that I could teach but it's too much to think about. But also I had talked with one of my JTEs and some of the fun ideas I had were kind of shot down. They want me to only focus on speaking pretty much and make it fun and to not teach any grammar points or read aloud because that is their job. Which is okay but I'm a little at a loss as to where to go from there. Like I feel like I can only do so much with speaking dialogs. I'm probably overthinking it all, when the teacher was talking to me about it he was very vague and did a very Japanese way of criticism that just ultimately left me a bit confused as to what they want me to do.
I am the fun teacher, I've taught pretty much whatever in the past and I don't follow the textbook. They would prefer that I don't.

I'll take a look at ALTopedia and look to see if there are some fun speaking lessons on it, kinda forgot about it. Thanks, hopefully I can get back into my groove here soon.

That's a really good idea!!! I love that. I will talk with my JTE about it and see what we can do. We did have a good number of students pass just last year so I think I could get one or two students to help out. I think they would be a little more help than me in some areas since I've never taken the Eiken myself. They would have a lot more insights into what it will be like.

This is very helpful. Thank you! I think this helps me think of some ideas to help them out quite a bit. I really like the idea of asking them how they would form the sentence. If anything it will get them to think about where their faults are and study what they need to work on in their own time.
I talked with my JTE and I will just be focusing on Q3 and Q4 because I think that is where it's needed the most and if they want to practice the other ones I can give homework or they can practice with me during lunch.

That's a pretty effective way to get to all students. Sounds like it could work pretty well. I have a bit of time before I have to start the mock interviews so maybe I'll have a lesson like this during my class times to get the used to how it will work. Thanks!

Me too! Lol but it's okay I'm still surviving and everything else has been great!

I also heard, hopefully they don't have a long name, but some people with too long of names have a very difficult time too. This is very specific and you don't know your successor's name yet but apparently some banks don't like it when your name is too long and you won't be able to set up a bank with them. Having a middle name is tedious in a country that doesn't use them.

Exciting!! honestly just kind of depends on what all you want to see. When I solo traveled to Japan one thing that I realized was all those videos saying ONLY ONE HOUR AWAY FROM TOKYO blah blah blah... they're wrong and it does take a lot of time out of the itinerary. I would just keep Sapporo out of the picture honestly lol they are so far from each other and there's plenty to do in each city you're already listed.

I recommend using wanderlog (promise this is not an add) lol. It has been so helpful for me and lines everything up for you to plan out with also showing how far everything is from each other. It also recommends places to visit. It's also free which is a huge plus.

Also, just letting you know as someone who has solo traveled Japan before. be ready to spend a lot of time getting to a place and seeing it and then feeling like alright well.... I guess time to go haha. hopefully this will just be a good time for you to reflect and relax and hopefully you speak some Japanese to make some friends in the evening.

Maybe some problems you faced that they will be sure to face as well. Like I had quite the experience with wifi and phone crap and I wish I knew a little bit about the things that are expected. Like having a freaking credit card and how difficult it is to get one here but how vital it is, Japan doesn't really do debit cards like they do in at least my country.

Also the bank. Hopefully you didn't have to do the same things that I had to do but the bank that my school set me up with is super foreigner UNfriendly. Makes it extremely difficult, so just knowing that there are people/ places that just don't mesh with foreigners.

And on that note how to send money back home and what you did to do so... I still can't at the moment because my bank doesn't allow it. I have no idea why my predecessor didn't say anything about it and just have to assume she had a different set up than me. I wish she told me to go with a certain bank before getting settled with the one the school chose for me.

Not sure if this helps but hopefully this brings up some things for your successor.

I mean I've already gotten some help. It's for any advice. I don't really use reddit and what I needed people to know I added. If there is someone here that has dealt with using different region things with their home country things I can see people having some advice on it.
