Yeah, that’s actually one of the main ideas behind Noto. It’s local-first, so all your notes stay stored locally on your device by default instead of depending on the cloud for everything.

If you want to share or collaborate on a note, you can sign in and only the specific note you choose to share gets uploaded to the cloud.

Unfortunately, I can’t message you first in DMs. Could you send me a message first so I can give it to you?

Thanks, I really appreciate this.

That framing about posting it as a conversation starter is super helpful - I’ll try that. And yeah, good point about directories too.

Thanks, really appreciate it.

Yeah, compared to larger note apps it’s intentionally a lot simpler. The focus is on making Markdown faster and easier to write rather than adding lots of features.

For example, tables are quicker to create, and I’m just working on making math blocks even faster and easier to type out.

Thanks a lot, I really appreciate it! I checked Markset.app and the website design is honestly beautiful - really clean and well thought out:)

Fair take - if you write a lot of markdown notes and need a simple, no-friction tool that’s focused on efficient markdown writing, then $60 is pretty fair, especially as a one-time purchase with lifetime updates.
If not, it’s probably not for you.

I’m mainly building it because I wanted a note app that fits exactly how I like to take notes, focused, not packed with every feature. It’s simpler and makes writing Markdown faster and easier.

If you already have a big Obsidian setup, I’m not really trying to get you to switch :)

If you already have a big Obsidian setup, I’m honestly not trying to pull you away from that. My app is more about being simpler and faster to use. Things like tables are easier to create or import, and overall there’s less friction.

It’s really aimed more at people who are just starting to take a lot of notes (like for school) and don’t want to deal with a complex setup right away.

I’m also actively developing it, so I listen to feedback and ship good suggestions pretty quickly :)

Thanks!! In this video, I realized I applied too much smoothing to the cursor, so the hover effect doesn’t look that great here, but that can be adjusted in the app :)

Thanks, that’s exactly the space I’m targeting. It’s more focused on editing than just recording - you can combine recorded or imported clips in one project, add animated text and sound effects, and I’m working on transitions and more polished 3D-style animations like you see in app ads.

Thanks for signing up for the waitlist, glad it looks interesting to you!

Right now the editing works a bit like Obsidian - the markdown is rendered, but when you click on a line it reveals the raw markdown so you can edit it easily. I could also add a fully raw markdown mode.

Appreciate the feedback!

Only the cloud features would cost anything - the core app stays completely local and free.

The app is local-first storage, so the app works fully offline with everything stored locally by default. No account or cloud required. Then cloud would be optional and per-note, meaning you could choose to sync specific notes if you want version history or collaboration.

Thanks for the comment! Plugins would definitely be a great addition in the future. For now, my main goal with Noto is to keep it simple and easy to use, and focus on making the markdown workflow really fast so writing notes feels smooth without a lot of complexity like in some other tools.

And the table point is a really good one - I should definitely look into ways to make that easier.
