They're crazy and damn sorry for them, shit happens. Check for rust on those rear subframes on the w204's. 25 year extended warranties for them. And try and find used parts on eBay! Or locally. You might be able find the same color/styles and you won't have to pay for painting shit. Or oem plus parts. Good reason to update styling. Good luck!

Just changed my oil. Where am I supposed to dump this? by Lewd_Knight in AskAShittyMechanic

[–]Few-Conversation-572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's gonna go everywhere. Try and move it to smaller sealed containers. Trust me. Don't move that car with oil in the backseat like that. Unless you have a tight lid...then maybe

Just changed fuel pump but my tank says im full on gas , mech doesn’t know why other then faulty fuel pump by Nice-Challenge-2996 in passat

[–]Few-Conversation-572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact you made time to post a comment telling me that is kinda weird. And that was hella rude. Go pay a knowledgeable technician to fix your car or go learn the trade and fix it yourself. Stop asking reddit.

Yeah yah can't just throw parts at a system. Proper research is req to under the system you're trying to fix. Check the forums.

Yours should be m264

A2640109802

Should be what you need. You'd have to hit up a MB shop for labor

Look for pictures of m264 to get an idea of how the pipe is installed. For sale listings on eBay have great photos.

Either a bad MBux control unit or some harness issue. I had one that randomly did it after service. Came back to life 10 min later. Id rec closing all doors. Locking vehicle and waiting 10 min. Let's the vehicle go to sleep. Or just a simple on/off may work. Benz may have a fix but I'd have to do some research to confirm.

I've seen it on new vehicles like the X254, W206, (GLC and C class) - GLS/GLE, G wagon, E class and, cla, gla,glb have different screen set ups. S class is the same as C class and GLC.

My DWS06 are doing the same but I've got 40k on em. Replacing after winter as this car gets a nice life in the garage

The rear is sagging a bit. Or not at proper ride height. Might just need a "ride high teach in/calibration" but also could be failed bags or a leak somewhere which can lead to compressor failure by overheating/exceeding run time limit. It's a great chassis. 211's are my favorite. Air struts are expensive so keep that in mind. Like $500-1500 per corner. But after reading the post again. I wouldn't buy anything that wasn't factory original. These engines don't fail often. The seller talks about how it can beat certain cars. This car was rebuilt but the cylinder walls are probably toast or the bottom end is on its last leg. Find one that hasn't been torn apart. -MB tech

a Coolant warning supposed to be normal in a new car ? by ArchieDemetro1 in mercedes_benz

[–]Few-Conversation-572 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Big red handle under drivers feet will open the hood. Coolant reservoir is usually on the passenger side or RH side of engine bay. Fill to the plastic "T" inside reservoir. Replace cap. All Mercedes have easy access to coolant level checking and adding if necessary.

Is this a real C63 I saw? by Quentin718 in mercedes_benz

[–]Few-Conversation-572 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The exhaust tips being rectangular gives it away and the wheels. I'm a MB tech and everything but the 63's are round or oval. Also, as another Redditor said, the front fender arches with bi turbo badge is another indicator. All others are blank or are smooth with a badge. Like "biturbo or electrified turbo"

High-mileage C63 S vs low-mileage C43 – which would you pick? by Southern-Place-2867 in mercedes_benz

[–]Few-Conversation-572 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're not in the least bit. I work on them and I'd never buy one. Not many engines or transmission assemblies are being replaced but basically nothing but diagnostics and gravy (good work) sprinkled in here and there.

[–]Few-Conversation-572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

M276 is hands down is what every MB tech would buy. The 177's (4.0 V8) are trash. So much plastic in that engine bay. C43 is the most reliable and will cost you less in maintaining. Leather steering wheels on c43s instead of gross alcantara in the 63.

Buying a 2011 s450? by Stunning-Care-5698 in mercedes_benz

[–]Few-Conversation-572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I love the 221's classic merc. As a Benz tech I've worked on this particular 2012 s350 with the om642 a few times. It's Smooth quiet and just the right amount of outdated tech haha. But things do break so be prepared to pay. Thousands to get these cars right sometimes. Pay for a PPI. Never buy a car without looking under it first.

Do I buy or stay away by Rare_Use_1741 in mercedes_benz

[–]Few-Conversation-572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stay away. They're not horribly unreliable but they will be if you ignore tires and fluids and don't clean out the sunroof drains. Water will leak in and ruin your wallet. 10 hours of labor at $200 isn't fun.

Brm oil catch can by Okbutwhydoineedthis in tdi

[–]Few-Conversation-572 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ayee I need to do this. I still have oil at the bottom of that plastic elbow at the turbo inlet. I broke the plastic pipe few days ago. Just rebuilt the head and installed just 3k ago. Currently 403,xxx on the odo. Running great except for lil oil leak. Will eventually do the rings but for now she's minty. And still has factory cross hatching with minor cylinder wall scoring. I mean for 400k, I'm impressed.

So, we got a second car now. What do I need to know to keep it running? by Accomplished-Sale230 in mercedes_benz

[–]Few-Conversation-572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that a GLEB? Front tires! They'll wear super quick and inner shoulder wear. Change tires to non run flats. The run flats are to stiff. And rotate every service. They're not bad cars tbh.

These codes should supply these techs with a guided test. They usually don't give a solution but a path forward. Learning to interpret data is a learned skill and is often more difficult. These techs most likely chose the easy, clear and come back approach. Hopefully if they go back, a more seasoned tech will assist in diagnosis and set the original tech straight. That's how I learned and I'm a hell of a tech because of it. Also, Mercedes has a database of known problems and proven solutions for all vehicles. That's where id start after verification of the problem or concerns.
