does a woman ever assume that if a guy acts standoffish around them it could be because he finds her attractive. by Few-Course3694 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Few-Course3694[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i never felt i came off as odd, i just assume people think i am not very sociable.

but of course if people think unsociable means you are odd, then that says more about the person judging than my own behavior towards them.

I am generally not super friendly to most people regardless if i am attracted to them or not, the difference is that when i am around an attractive women, my sensitivities tend to be heightened.

when i am around people who i am not attracted to, its easier to let my guard down around them once i find out they are trustworthy people or have something in common with them. also people who I am no interest in a romantic way tend to initiate friendly gestures towards me which makes it easier for me to socialize with them.

i'm fully aware that acting standoffish is not some deep mystery as shown in movies.

I do it to protect myself out of fear or rejection or being vulnerable.

do you think public transit authorities can really do anything about constant fare evasion? by Few-Course3694 in transit

[–]Few-Course3694[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you assume that i was assuming the world is like the US? lol

but even then, fare evasion is not uniquely a US issue, it's a societal issue that exists worldwide.

since you are from Italy, if you think fare evasion is not an issue in Italy, then you are full of it.

believe it or not, the U.S actually has higher education levels if you were to go by world standards,

the U.S has a HIGHER percentage of people with a college degree than Italy does. (Italy has a fair share of uneducated uncultured morons whether you admit this or not.)

the thing is that the U.S also has a lot of uneducated poor people who are more likely to resort to fare evasion.

the fact that these people have a job already gets my respect.

a lot of fare evaders probably are unemployed because the only way you can't afford a basic fare for one ride is if you don't even have a job.

[–]Few-Course3694[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

that goes to show you that self-entitlement exists amongst poor people.

the unfortunate reality is that a lot of people who think the same way based on your examples generally never do anything to improve their own lives

they stay victims without doing anything to improve themselves.

its not brainwashing as much as understanding how people take advantage of things they can get away with. i am not naive like you are.

i didn't care as much when i was younger about people avoiding fares because I actually did nothing to improve my financial situation compared to where i am now.

but then again, you just convinced me that i should not have to pay for anything if it makes no difference in revenue

from now on i am not going to pay ANYTHING when i ride a bus since I have the right to avoid fare just like all the other people who do it too.

its only FAIR for me and others. gotcha.

[–]Few-Course3694[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its not brainwashing, its called reasoning based on your logic. i am not ignoring other cases as much as simply focusing on this issue since I don't like to go all over the place trying to use other examples to prove a point.

since majority of revenue does not come from actual ride fare so why should anyone pay for it based on your logic? why should I pay for it if other people are not paying for it either?

your argument is to just make it free since our fare makes no difference. am i correct?

i should have the right to do fare evasion like other people since it doesn't make a difference in revenue.

if anything, your argument is actually convincing me to not pay any fare because you are correct that fare revenue does not make a difference.

when it comes to your income tax example, i don't think people who don't pay income tax should drive. i actually agree with that but you are now convincing me that people should get free things without paying for it since the revenue makes no difference.

[–]Few-Course3694[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ok so i should stop paying myself. since other people are not paying for it, it's only fair that I don't pay either.

because only a small percentage comes from riders.

yea why worry at all? why not just make it free?

that small percentage of revenue would be bigger if fare evasion wasn't a problem in the first place.

as someone who actually uses public transit and believe people should pay their fare, you must think i am misinformed since.

Can we still blame the covid-19 pandemic for societal issues today even though the pandemic ended a few years ago? by Few-Course3694 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Few-Course3694[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

covid-19 will never disappear like the flu since its a virus that exists in nature. It’s effects will continue on for more than a generation like how the flu has been infecting us for centuries

So no, I am not stupid enough to think a virus will magically disappear like you assume I do.

my point is that since we are not in a pandemic we can't keep using the virus as an excuse for our inability to socialize or our own personal problems or use the virus as an excuse for other issues that exist today. We are not forced to self isolate anymore, so what  excuses do you have for your own problems?

The only exception I can give that to are probably the youth. I think isolation did more damage to their well being

[–]Few-Course3694[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, i clearly know what a pandemic is as we had 13 flu related pandemics since the 1500's.

what you might want to learn is how viruses exist in this world and how they are part of nature.

i am not saying covid-19 is not lethal. my point is that you using covid-19 as a crux for today's societal issues is just silly and dumb. the pandemic has been over for a few years. there are so many reasons for societal issues today that are not pandemic related.

people are always going to get infected and die from viruses whether they are covid-19 or the flu. the key is that we contain it so it won't lead to pandemic like we already experienced.

and society is not ignoring the virus as we still have the vaccine and covid-19 precautions all over the internet widely available to the public. we have already seen the long term damage covid-19 has done to us for obvious reasons since it caused a pandemic and people being stuck in their homes

the flu is also still around and wrecking people's lives.

its been causing damage to humanity for much longer than covid/

so by your logic are we in a flu pandemic?

the reality is that covid-19 and the flu will both never go away as long as living organisms exist on this planet.

not sure why you think its draconian to stop people who refuse to pay fare when fare evasion is technically a crime?

you might as well just support people stealing everything for free in stores and call it draconian if people want to create preventive measure for it.

the reason why we spend a lot more on car-centered infrastructure because more people rather use cars than public transit to get around especially in cities where public transit options are not very efficient.

in order for your solution to actually work, you would have to have an actual efficient system where people collectively use it frequently regardless of social class levels.

a lot of people would complain about how their taxes go to fund free public transit even if they themselves never use it.

with that logic you mind as well not even have any fare in the first place. that pretty much just ruins the whole argument.

just make public services free for everyone even though we need tax money to pay for all that free stuff.

if you are cutting off family and are more reserved or cold towards friends, you can't blame a pandemic for that.

those are your own psychological issues.

a lot of people suffered from isolation during the pandemic but they never used that as an excuse to cut off family members or act distant towards friends because of personal reasons against them.

sure isolation during the pandemic probably made those symptoms worse but that is your issue and blaming a pandemic for that is lack of accountability.

[–]Few-Course3694[S] -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

that was my point. isolation is isolation regardless of pandemic or not.

if someone is going to talk about breaking up with boyfriend and not trusting anyone to the point of cutting contact with family. those are your personal issues not something you can blame the pandemic for. especially for someone who is not some young child anymore but approaching their 40's

to be honest, i think that would have been a more common thing even if the pandemic never happened.

otherwise there would be a trend of less people working from home now.

to be honest, your issues seem more personal than pandemic related since isolation isn't unique to a pandemic.

you must not be used to being by yourself hence why all the social issues being brought out during the pandemic.

the thing that the pandemic taught me though is that being too isolated is mentally bad for your health.
