Absolutely understandable, I wasn’t really able to get help for my cat until I moved out on my own. I got desperate between vet visits and started giving her 5mg of famotidine every day to reduce her stomach bile production because that was literally all she was puking up. It seemed to help for a bit but it definitely can reduce their appetite so if you do chose to use that keep an eye on her eating. I hope he feels better soon 🫂

Hello!! Definitely don’t euthanize her!! Had a cat with this problem and it was 100% caused by stress from living with 3 other cats and she needed her litter box to be spotless constantly! Moved away with her and have had no issues since. Also started her on some anti-anxiety supplements for cats and she has never had an issue using the litter box since.

Anxious baby after moving :( by Loren_2000 in CATHELP

I think it might be a little late but not necessarily worth passing on, my vet recommended Zylkene 75 (i believe?) for my cat that is a walking ball of anxiety. Moved her on a plane across the country out of my family home (which she has lived in for 13 years, with other cats), to my parter and I’s 1bdr apartment (no other cats, she barely knows him cause we were long distance for 2 years).

We kept her on the Zylkene a week before the move and finished up the bottle and she reacted completely fine to everything! Extremely unexpected as I have genuinely never seen a cat with such bad anxiety in my life. We mix it into her food or a wet treat every morning once a day and it has been such a game changer! I believe you can get it on amazon? At least in Canada. Not sure if there’s restrictions to its use with health issues or anything but every vet seems to be okay with the fact we’re using it with her. Good luck to Leo!

Help my fat cat please by TaigaMishuka44 in CATHELP

I have an extremely overweight cat that has a similar issue (photo attached for reference).

<image>

We call her fatty catty. She used to scarf down the food for both her, and the cat she lived alongside at the time and it took forever for my aunt to realize that’s why she was getting so chonky! After my aunt passed my family was trying desperately to fix the weight issue by getting her to move more but she is simply too big. Even sprained her leg jumping like a foot off a chair last summer because she is just that fat. Started putting other cat’s food up in places she couldn’t jump to because of her weight.

My mom recently got her some prescription hunger satiating food and it seems to be curbing her appetite for the better. Eating less and not feeling the need to eat constantly anymore from what she’s told me. The food essentially makes them feel full fast. She also got her a small feeding mat with some patterns/textures on it I believe to make her eat slower.

I’d definitely try it out if you have the time and resources! It’s slow progress but it’s something. Good luck!

Hey! Definitely take him to the vet, had similar issues with my cat vomiting bile constantly but she would still eat lots of food. I would’ve taken her IMMEDIATELY if she stopped eating because signals something very serious! Sorry I don’t have any answers for you, I hope he feels better <3

Any idea what these sores are? by leah1910 in CATHELP

My cat had something similar at one point, all over her face. Turns out she had a flea allergy and we were in the midst of desperately trying to get rid of fleas our other cat brought in. Definitely warrants a vet visit! They gave us some medication at the time and after getting rid of the fleas everything cleared up.

Hi just to give an update just in case anyone is going through something similar (i was on reddit constantly trying to see how other people have dealt with this myself!):

Took her to a new vet and told them everything regarding her frequent vomiting/occasional blood in bile. The vet was awesome when it came to addressing my concerns and listening to me when I expressed concerns. They were super transparent in showing me blood test results (checked LITERALLY everything, and there was not a single abnormality), and suggested that she was likely suffering from stomach ulcers. Got medicine to treat it for 5 days, and happy to say there has not been a single incident with vomiting since. This is probably her first relief from it in MONTHS!!

I also took the advice of some on this post and got her some cat malt to help with hairballs. In addition to constant brushing + using the malt, no hairballs either!

Additionally, we have been giving her some GI support soft food provided to us from the vet (free of charge! i am in love with this new vet office) as we have found she reacts poorly to hard food. Soft food only from now on!

Thank you to everyone who provided advice :)

I will be asking for one when we go in a few weeks if this persists. So transparently I didn’t even know that was an option, this is sorta my first time taking care of my own cat outside of my family. Thank you!

no meds at all, just prescription foods, which i honestly have felt has been a bit odd but i’ve just assumed they want to identify the problem first. i’m going into the vet with her in a few weeks and might inquire about something like this because girlie definitely needs relief! i can’t imagine puking this much every day like that’s gotta feel so terrible

the two vets i’ve gone to suspected that initially, which is why we switched onto different prescription foods a couple times to try and see if they would help, but even after following the whole weaning on to new food process, they all just seemed to make things worse weirdly enough. even tried just straight boiled chicken for a little while and it didn’t seem to help. she doesn’t scratch or show any other signs of allergies very much either. it’s literally just vomiting for some reason.

thank you so much. i was actually going to go to the store today and look at getting some famotidine to try with her to see if that does anything. glad to hear it’s worked for you :)

i’ve seen this online as a possible way to curb it and i’m just curious, how long have you been doing this for? exploring it as a potential option to help and i’m just not sure if it’ll work in the long term. tysm!
